My son is struggling with reading and he needed an adventure book. The Magic Treehouse books are still a bit much for him, so his teacher said to just pick whatever would closely fit the theme. We settled on Junie B. and we went with this one because we thought maybe a crook might imply an adventure? LOL Anyway, my girls read these books when they were younger and loved them. I had my son read this book to me and was impressed that most of the words he was able to read well, but there are severa...more

This is a short chapter book designed early readers who are just being introduced to reading chapter books for the very first time.If you are the teacher, you may enjoy reading a book like this to your students in Kindergarten/first grade. In the book, Junie B. gets a great new pair of fur mittens from his Grandpa Frank Miller. She is absolutely in love with them and she even gets in trouble for taking them out and showing them off to everyone. When she is playing outside with her friends she en...more

Junie B. Jones Is Not a Crook by Barbara Park is only one of the many books that take you on adventures. There is always something going on when Junie B gets involved. In this particular story, Junie loses a pair of mittens and goes searching for it. While searching for her mittens, she comes across a very nice pen and decides to keep it. Finders keepers, right? That's what Junie B. thinks until she gets caught. What is she to do now? Junie B. takes readers on another one of her wild rides. Wher...more

We just started listening to Junie B Jones unabridged on cd in the car. This was the first story on our set, and we loved it! The reader is perfect for Junie B. She sounds like a child and sounds just as I have imagined Junie to sound like! But I have even been laughing outloud in the car.

My 2nd favorite line, "When I first opened them(the furry gloves), I got filled with glee. Glee is when you run. And jump. And skip. And laugh. And clap. And dance on top of the dining room table. Then your m...more

Summary
In this book Junie B. Jones gets a new pair of mittens from her grandpa Frank Miller. She fell completely in love with them and could not wait to show them off to her friends at school. While she is outside with her friends she ends up getting them stolen because she set them down next to her jacket. Junie cannot believe her eyes because she did not think that crooks even existed...more

This book was my introduction to Junie B. Jones. I had picked up a little paperback that had one chapter from several different books about 6-year-olds, since my daughter was 6 at the time. We read the chapter about Junie B. losing her beautiful new mittens, as soon as we stopped laughing, we headed straight for the library to check out the entire book (and a stack of other Junie B books, while we were at it).

That was years before I became a school librarian. Since that first book, I have read...more

This is another book in the Junie B. Jones series. These books are laugh out loud funny for students and adults. Junie B. is a funny girl who has the greatest sense of humor without even knowing it. In this book Junie finds herself struggling with the idea of right and wrong. Someone took her fancy black mittens out of the lost and found without asking, so when she finds a pen on the ground she decides it's okay to keep the pen. However through she learns that she may have to do the right thing...more

I know lots of parents don't like Junie B because she's rude and not super respectful of authority figures and doesn't always use nice words, but this was a great little story about doing the right thing even when it's hard. Junie B also seems like the kind of kid that real kids can relate to. And my favorite thing to tell parents who don't like her because of language/the way she deals with things/etc. is that Junie B is a great conversation starter - talk with and explain to your kids WHY you...more

Disscusion Questions:
1. In the book, Junie B. Jones's mitttens are stolen. Have you ever stolen something?
Yes, when I was in elementary school, somebody took my favorite mechanical pencil. I was sad at that time.:(
2. If you find one million dollar, what will you do?
I don't know but, I might take it if no one was seen it.

I enjoyed reading this book. I like Junie B. Jones series.

Junie B.'s grampa got her new fuzzy mittens and with her attractive coat, she set her mittens and the attractive coat by the tree at recess. And then they were missing when it was time to go back to room 9. And she was really, really sad and mad. She found out about the Lost and Found box, but her mittens weren't there. Then she found a pen that was neat and wanted to keep it instead of putting it in the Lost and Found box.

This was the very first Junie B. Jones book that I have ever read, and I must say that I found her to be very cook and very relatable for little kids. I think the authors use of language, even if it is bad grammar, helps a child to better relate to Junie. I thought it was very cute, and am planning to going to pick up a few more to read to my little girl. I would recommend Junie B. Jones to others.

I love these books so much! Junie B. Jones is always getting herself into some type of trouble, whether it's with her family or when she's at school. These books are very addicting, you can't put the book down. I highly suggest these books to fifth graders and anybody who is older than that. No matter how old someone is, they will love these books and read the whole series!
Samantha
Good book explaining how finders keepers is not the best rule ever. However there were several other points in the book that were not pointed out as being bad. Junie stamps her feet and throws a fit multiple times in this book, and causes scene in class. If i was going to read this book to my class i'd have to address those issues. I don't want anyone getting ideas.

Barbara Park is a really funny writer. I giggled the whole time I read this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who wishes they were a kid again!

Junie B. Jones does say things that she probably shouldn't, but the adults in her life make sure she knows right from wrong. She is a kindergartener, after all!
Kirei
Junie B. learns the importance of being honest. First, she puts down her new mittens and they go missing...a crook has taken them! Later she finds a nifty ball-point pen and keeps it. Will she get her mittens back? Will she do the right thing and put the pen in the lost and found box? Read this book and find out!

1. If you.were Junie, and your mittens were stolen by someone. What do you do?
In my case, I can'y tell anybody, because I 'm afraid to scold by my mother. So I don't say anybody and I try to look for myittens.
2. What was the most expensive goods that werw bought by your grand parents?
I think that I got money for my grandmorher for celebration of an adult. I will have a- coming- of -age celebrati...more

If you can get past the 'kid speak' then it is a pretty cute story. It shows its age though in the part where she assumes all crooks have tattoos and if she can just find someone with a tattoo... this day and age she won't have to look real far.
Definitely a good example of being honest and doing what's right.

When Junie B. Jones loses her mittens she discovers the wonderful Lost and Found Box. But how can she expect anyone else to do the right thing and turn in the mittens when she doesn't want to turn in what SHE found by the water fountain?

A good lesson wrapped up in a fun story. Worth reading.

The ninth book in the series and things just keep getting better. Each book has such great lessons and laughter. You will learn something new or just laugh along with Junie B. as you read this to someone you love or even yourself. Give these a read. You will not be disappointed!
Sam
A terrible thing happened to Junie B. Jones! And it's called -- someone took her new black furry mittens! And they kept them! They didn't even put them in the Lost and Found at school. So when Junie B. finds a wonderful pen on the floor, she should be allowed to keep it, too. Right? That's fair. Right? Right?

Maggie and I are flying through the Junie Bs. We read this one because we were having a little trouble with too many 'Finders Keepers'. We enjoyed it so much that we started back at number 1 and have started plowing through them. These books really are so much fun.

Junie B. Jones got a brand new pair of mittens from her grandpa. At school one day, she lost them and could not find them anywhere. In this story, Junie B. Jones learns a very valuable lesson. This would be a great book to discuss the moral or theme of the story.
Natasha
Junie B. Jones is quite the character. She's pretty sure someone is a crook becuase they "stole" her mittens. But she soon learns how hard it is not to want to keep something she finds. Cute story for all ages. Quick easy read.
Emily
I don't agree with the idea that "it gets them to read". Junie is snotty and disrespectful. If my children are going to read, I would like them to fill their brains with images of children who have some values I would like them to absorb.
Alexa
In this book Junie B. Jones loosses her coat and mittens after she puts themnext to a tree to play horse. When she goes to the LOST AND FOUND she sees a lot of stuff she wants. Will she take and say it's hers? Or will she let the stuff go?
Emily Graham
The 9th book in the Junie B Jones series is just a cute as the others. This story is very much a relatable one to youngsters and provides insight to the logic that young kids have when it comes to things such as right and wrong.
Josiah
Well, it's Junie B. Jones, so you basically know it's going to be hilarious, and this book lives up to that billing. As Barbara Park is so skilled at doing, some really nice moments creep into the text too, so subtle that they don't disrupt the comic flow of the story in the least, and they add a lot to the substance of the narrative.
I can't seem to get enough of Junie B. Jones! :-)

This is a great story with a good moral and it's really funny! It's premise is the "Lost and Found" box, it's purpose and why, "finders keepers, losers weepers," is not a phrase to live by.
