Finally!!! I'm done reading this headache killer of a book. Basically, I didn't feel anything at all. The beginning went well but after that, it just completely died. There was no romance if you ask me only puppy love. Sure we know if Hunter's past but really what else can we find exciting??? Here is my list of good and bad.

~Good~
1. Hunter's past
2. Exciting Chase adventures
3. Breath taking Dragos plots

~Bad~
1. Corinne being the mate!
2. The short amount of time of Corinne over coming her horrible...more

Deeper than Midnight.

What is going on with numerous reviews and fellow GR peeps telling me that this wasn’t all it was expected to be? Personally I think you should all give your selves a slap in the face. I will excuse this infringement and say you all have been in a book funk, because I thought this book rocked.

It was easily one of my fav breed stories, not the best but pretty darn close. I went back and looked at my review for the last Breed novel that was released and I was not so much of a...more

I have been waiting forever for Hunter's book!! I was not disappointed!

What I Loved:

~I wasn’t confused at all. The author did a great job of refreshing my memory of the past storylines.

~Great sexual tension. Hunter and Corinne were beautiful together.

~It was partly set in Louisiana. I bet Amelie can make a bitchin’ pot of gumbo!

~Getting more insight on the history of Gideon and Savannah’s relationship. I would love to be able to read more about how they fell in love.

~Getting to meet Xander Raph...more

Let me start with what I love about this book. I loved the 1st half. The writing, the premise, and the plot twists alone, were written superbly. This one has alot of suspense, a trade mark to the Breed novels. I love that I got to touch base with all of the Warriors & their mates. U can't help but to care about them all and just because their books ended doesn't mean they are no longer important to us readers.

Hunter, of course! What is not to love about this strong, silent "Hero" Even though...more

I've been looking forward to Hunter's story for quite sometime but wasn't too happy when I found out that Corinne was going to be his Breedmate. I just didn't care for her from before and wasn't too sure if they would work well with each other. I'm happy to say that Lara Adrian brought them together very well. They just fit and were so sweet together especially after everything they've both been through.

I do have to say that you really have to just go with the flow on their relationship. I did f...more

So excited to finally get Hunter's story. He, more than any of the Breeds, made me feel for him, want him have some measure of happiness to balance what he has already been through. Hunter is a Gen One Breed, born and raised to be a weapon against the Order. He is no longer an enemy, instead an ally and a part, but he is lethal and seemingly emotionless. Particularly in the first chase scene with Murdock and the fight with the assassin, you get to see how genuinely bad ass Hunter really is. When...more

I wanted this book to be so much more because I have been obsessed with Hunter from his first appearance, so I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed...

The story was sweet and nice but I wanted more from this amazing hero ... I wanted passion, an explosion of emotions, a heroine who would transform him. Well, Corinne was never that. She was this plain and boring girl who never reacted too strong to anything. I just felt like Hunter changed because he got in love with her but not because of her....more

3.5 stars.

I liked this installment to the Breed series but maybe not as much as I was hoping for. I have been looking forward to Hunter's book for a while because he is such a complex character. Hunter was Dragos' first Gen One creation from the Ancient and the only one to have left Dragos' service alive.

Corinne was one of the Breedmates rescued in the last book. She was being used as a breeder by Dragos. From the timeline it seems she had been held there for almost 60 years- if I have that righ...more

Deeper than Midnight is the 9th book in the Midnight Breed series so although this review won't contain spoilers for this book it may include information from previous books. You might want to skip reading this review if you're not up to date with the series. If you're new to this series it is one I would highly recommend, it is absolutely my favourite paranormal romance series (for me even topping J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood books) and each book consistently manages to raise the standa...more

Loved it. It was so great to be back in this world again. I so wish there was a little more about Tess and Dantes baby and a little follow up on Jenna. But it was good and major cliffhanger! Can't wait for the next book.

I Can't wait for Hunter's story >_<

I'm so excited!!!

But who's going to be his girl? Mira??? Or the new character???

Next year can't come fast enough TT_TT

I really LOVE this series!! It's always been a favorite of mine! However this one wasn't a favorite. It was good..just not great, like the others have been. For me, the excitement..meaning the action and suspense AND the typical level of steaminess just wasn't present as in past books. :(

Having said that..i did really like Hunter.. he was def. YUM...a typical bad ass breed like the rest of them..if not more so and it was nice to see him become more "human" than "machine" because of the heroine. S...more

A gripping story of heartache, betrayal, trust and the discovery of love that left me breathless; Deeper than Midnight is an exceptional addition to an already superb series!

One of Dragos elite hunter’s, Hunter was bred for combat. Escaping his evil master and joining the Order, he still excels at the deadly art of assignation and shows no emotion…until the woman from a life changing vision is taken in by the Order and put under his protection. He is charged with the task of escorting Corinne Bi...more

This one was a pretty decent read. I wasn't sure what to think of Corrine Bishop as the heroine of this story after the horrible nightmare she went through for over seventy-five years. Although, things with her and Hunter did seem a bit rushed, I still enjoyed the story. It seemed as though there were a great deal more side stories in this one which kind of took away from the two lovers. I know those "side-stories" were important for the over all arc of the series but it just lessend the time we...more

I thoroughly enjoyed Deeper Than Midnight. Loved getting to know Hunter and Corinne and their, albeit short, journey to love and trust. I do wish there had been more to their story. It just seemed a bit quick, and lacked a bit of detail regarding Corinne's sudden thrust back into the real world and Hunter's quickly evolving emotions. But that is to be expected with the continuation of the war and conflict story-line between Dragos and the Order which is getting more and more complicated...more

2.5 stars: Not on par with earlier books in the series...just an OK read

The book started good but then went downhill from there. The first half I'd rate 3 - 3.5 stars. I liked the earlier parts with Hunter and Corine. I liked the over-arching storyline with the Order and their fight against Dragos. During those sections, I enjoyed seeing characters from the earlier books. However I did not like the other major plotthread about Harvard. It took up way too much of the storyline. I would have rathe...more

Just finished this one and holy crap! That was one hell of an ending!! Loved seeing Hunter and Corrine's story play out although I had moments where I wanted to shake her. Both have experienced so much pain and had no real love from anyone. Can't wait to read Chase's story. That was another, well ok there were several from him in this one, holy crap and omgosh moments. Worried about our Chase aka Sterling aka Harvard. :) Nice to see this series back on track so to speak.

As usual another great book. I thought the beginning had too much about Chase, but by the end of the book and the way it ended it was a necessary part of the book.

I loved Corrine and Hunter together. All that sexual tension in the beginning. When Hunter sees Corrine in the bath and realizes parts of his body are responding, that was just too funny. But the first time they were actually together was just so sweet. I loved them as a couple.

I'm looking forward to Chases story next. But so many thi...more

I'd give this more of a 3.5 or 3.75, but I'm just being picky.
I actually enjoyed Hunter's character. His moments with Corinne were interesting, but there was just too little of them. The Midnight Breed series has always had a lot of action and this book is no exception to that. Unfortunately, the action is starting to take over the whole book. I felt like I didn't have enough time with the main characters because there was so much time spent building up to future books.
It's unfortunate when a...more

4.5 stars only compare to other books within this series, otherwise, a solid 5 stars. I love this series. The plots pulled my interest and yearned for HEA's and at the same time cringed at the challenges ahead. The fast pace, full of action balanced with the achingly sweet lovestory, what not to love?

It's a great feeling when you have a book in your hands and just hate when you reached the end of the book and can't wait for the next one. Yeah...that's what I got with this series.

I liked the 1st half of this book, but the second half was a disaster.
The start of the book was actually good and I enjoyed reading it.I especially liked the part where Hunter starts having desires for Corinne but never having felt any such emotion, he feels ashamed of himself. This part was understandable and was important because the way Hunter had been brought up,emotions were not a part of his life, especially desires so it was expected.
And then Hunter ruined the whole book by kissing Corinne...more

This was an exellent continutation of the series. I loved Hunter and Corrine. My only complaint was that it was too short.

Okay, I put off reading Deeper Than Midnight when it first came out because from the reviews I'd read everyone had been so disappointed in Hunter's romance. So,going in with low expections, I actually really ended up liking this. I wasn't wowed by Corrine, but even though she was pretty thin characterwise, she wasn't awful. Yes, she had an agenda in finding her son, but I still believed that she came to care for Hunter.

Also it helped that I can ignore a so-so heroine, I am exceedingly hero-cent...more

Ok, well, i wont make this long because many have not read it and i dont intend for this to be a spoiler..I love spoilers, i wouldnt mind if anybody tells me the whole story, but yes, some people do mind and well, i must restrain myself of screaming out loud HOW DISSAPOINTED I AM of this book.

Dont get me wrong, it is majestically written, in the same style only Lara Adrian can write, flawless timeline, excellent dialogues, absolutely neat plot. BUT WAS THIS STORY INTENDED FOR HUNTER OR CHASE?

I found it difficult to get over the fact that Hunter, who until very recently didn't know shit from Shinola when it came to emotions, felt certain he loved Corinne just because he spent a couple of nights rolling between the sheets with her. He seemed more like a lovestruck virgin to me.

And Corinne, who was abused six ways from Sunday for 75 years, felt comfortable being very intimate with a huge, intimidating male who kills for a living just a week or so after she was rescued from her captors....more

After waiting over a year for this i came out a little disapointed. I really love this series but this was supposed to be Hunters story but turned out to be more of a set up of the next book for Sterling and who his breedmate is going to be. I feel that Hunter fell for Corinne way to easily. I get the identifing with her over the tourture they both suffered from dragos but come on. Hunter has been emotionally disconnected his entire life. And After 75 years of torture corinne pretty much just ge...more

4 is for the writing. I'd like to briefly mention how much I love reading this series. For several years now, it has been one of my favorites. I've never had one complaint about any of the books in the series, but this book was a bit of a disappointment for me. The writing is good, actually great, as it has always been, but the story fell short. The story line was fine, but I felt so many of the details were left out. However, the sub-plot with Chase was exciting and left me wanting more, which...more

3 ½ stars. After anxiously waiting for Hunter’s story, I have to say I was somewhat disappointed. The overall story was good; it moved forward and gave us insight of the changes that are coming. Some good action scenes, but there was not enough dialogue for my taste. Lots of description and thought out feelings that just went on and on. I did enjoy the involvement of the characters from the previous books, which was good to a point. I know that Chase’s book is next and there has to be somewhat o...more

As a child, Lara Adrian used to sleep with the covers up around her neck, afraid she might become the midnight prey of deadly vampires. Later on, under the influence of Bram Stoker and Anne Rice, she had to wonder if her fear wasn't actually something else: a secret desire to walk in a darker world, to live a dangerous and sensual dream with a man of seductive, preternatural power. It is that twin...more
