Fascinating, charming, sad and sometimes funny book of growing up on the Lost Coast of California before and during the second world war. It is really a series of memories or stories, and illustrated by paintings, drawings, and photos of the time (and of the author, who is a pretty good painter). The book could have stood some editing or proofreading, but it offers unique insights into the history of Shelter Cove and the Southern Humboldt region.
