3.5 stars. A step further than the Horrible Harry in Room 2B books. Not quite so much humor, but rather a little more learning about kindness and empathy. And a bit of a mystery, as everyone tries to figure out who their 'secret December' person is.
I'm not sure having a 'secret December person' was all that good idea. It made it tricky when the kids just plain wanted to be kind to someone else, and so kinda backfired.
I do get exasperated by the choices being Hannukkah or More...

This is a nice story about friendship and being kind to one another, especially during the holiday season. It's a bit early to read this, but our oldest picked this book out to read as one of her independent reading books for her third grade homework and I read it after she did. It's a short tale and is perfect for this age group. We both enjoyed reading this book.
