Seventeen-year-old Genesis Green is living anything but a charmed life. As far back as she can remember, she and her mother have been bouncing from town to town, struggling to survive on Ramen noodles and minimum wage.

Late one evening, Genesis and her boyfriend are in a car accident. Carter’s SUV rolls, and Genesis finds herself injured, lying on the pavement. Just before...more

Okay... I went into this book with high hopes for some reason. I was disappointed. The characters are just okay... nothing special. The author uses the ex when she needs him, but then says he's not good enough for Genesis... (don't even get me started on the name Genesis... really?) And then her Guardian comes in and he's all perfect but he can't take care of Genesis like the ex coulda... But he's perfect... psh.

There was one scene where Genesis was riding her bike to school... and Sahara or Sa...more

**Some Spoilers**

Let's cut to the chase, shall we? I can't believe I paid for this book.
It needs editing SO bad. The flow is off, there are missing words, things really should be re-worded, and the structure is pretty wrecked. Not to mention punctuation, grammar, etc.

It was pretty juvenile. Girl has boyfriend (a nice one at that), breaks up with boyfriend because SHE thinks SHE is not good enough. Suddenly she meets her guardian (he saves he...more

This one is maybe closer to 2.5 stars than 3, but I'd rather give it a 3 than a 2.

Basic Premise: Girl (Genesis) who is down on her luck nearly dies. Her Guardian (Seth) shows up (pretty much an angel but with no wings). She's dating another guy (Carter) and some teen boyfriend angst ensues. Later, for some reason, Genesis begins seeing visions of the future, which turns out to be a pretty big deal / desirable trait to both the Guardians and their arch enemies (Diabols, aka demons). Conflict ensu...more
I think Alanis Morissette latest song, Guardian, perfect as soundtrack to this book

You, you who smiled when you’re in pain
You who soldiered through the profane
They were distracted and shut down

So why, why would you talk to me at all
Such words were dishonorable and in vain
Their promise as solid as a fog

And where was your watchman then

I’ll be your keeper for life as your guardian
I’ll be your warrior of care, your first warden
I’ll be your angel on call, I’ll be on demand
The greatest honor of all as
Different. Good.

Genesis can see the future, when she's in a car accident she remembers arms holding her telling her it's ok. it wasn't her boyfriend Carter. Then her guardian Seth appears to her. saves her life a few times, they spend a lot of time together. he's been in love with her, she now is falling for him. She is ask by he guardians to help since she sees things happen in time to stop them. they only have seconds before alerted. Seth is against this and tells her choose him or helping th...more

Even more thrilling than I predicted...

This book was not at all predictable. Most teen romances I've read come in two's and threes. In the first book, the girl meets the guy, falls in love with him, and they have some struggle staying together but are able to overcome that. In the second book, they question their relationship, and maybe a new love interest is introduced. That's where I stop reading out of boredom. But this story wasn't at all like that. I won't give any spoilers for you, but her...more

"Is it selfish of me to want to keep you forever"
I really enjoyed this book, and it was an easy read! Genesis was a strong female lead which I just love. Nothing like a wimpy, whiny girl to ruin a book. Can't wait to read the next book to see if some good butt kicking occurs! This book is clean for teens and older.
Just plain old bad. The characters were not really given any depth. The story line was that pathetic type to where girl see her guardian angle, girl falls in love, within a day, no relationship building it just is. It was just... don't read it.

This isn't your typical Guardian Angel love story. The Guardians protect people without messing with free will, but they aren't angels. Genesis isn't your typical girl, either. After a near death experience, she begins having visions, and the Guardians hope to use them to fight the evil that works against them. Of course, this puts her in danger, but not from who she expects. Seth is her Guardian, and he isn't supposed to show himself to her, but her can't seem to stay away. The romance was cute...more
I really loved this book. It reminded me a little of "Inescapable" (by A.Bartol). I actually decided to read it after having read a short story from the writer which is included in an anthology called "In His Eyes". Basically, the story is about a Guardian and the girl he guards. In the anthology short story we see things through the guardian's eyes and it overlaps with the beggining of the book, in which we see things through the heroine's eyes. So I recommend reading the short story first, it...more

Stars 3.5/5

This is my second Katie Klein book and am I disappointed? Nope Sir thank you very much 
I have to admit that I didn’t like the Guardian as much as I liked Cross My Heart (I gave it 5 stars so if you haven’t read it yet….what are you waiting for?) but I think that it can’t really compare as one was a stand alone book and The Guardian is the start of a series which makes it all more difficult.
The Guardian is a strong start of the series, laying down the genesis (pun TOTALLY intended) s...more
I loved this book! Although I typically stay away from 1st person present tense narrators, I LOVED this book. I have no idea how to do the spoiler thing on goodreads where it blanks out spoilers so please don't read this part!!

I have always hated the whiny, wishy washy character whose parents treat them like know crap. I always want them to stand up and say something to the parent, to stop taking the abuse to move out or protest, report their parents to social
I enjoyed reading The Guardian and I want to read the next book. This book has its Twilight moments and it's predictable but enjoyable.

I lbought this book a year ago by accident. I had no idea what it was about but I'm glad I got it. I read Cross My Heart by Katie Klein and really liked it. This wasn't a bad purchase.

I like Genesis, unlike Bella in Twilight I don't find Genesis annoying. I liked she exercise her free will and she stood by her decisions. Seth is her guardian, he looks out fo...more
Well this one was not as good as Cross My Heart by Katie Klein. But for an Indie author, I think she has a lot of talent.

At the beginning of the book, I was annoyed with Genesis. She seemed like such an insecure brat. And because of her little blow up, I felt really bad for Carter. He was so sweet, I really liked him. Seth, was the one she fell in love with, but I didn't really feel it. There wasn't enough relationship building or something. I don't know, SOMETHING was missing. I did enjoy Seth...more

I liked this book and it did get me interested in continuing the series but some parts of the book were slow. I didn't like how Gee always thought people thought less of her because she was poor. It felt like we went through her life day to day, same thing, school, home, work. I loved when Seth became part of the story, I found the idea of Guardians to be unique and I loved how deeply he cared for her. I did not understand what power Gee had and what good it did, this was a learning process but...more

You know how they say everyone has problems? They weren't kidding. Genesis has been living off of bare minimum, eating cheap meals and trying to get by. Life isn't all bad though- she has Carter, her boyfriend. Then, there was an accident. Lying in the street, waiting for death- or anything- she hears something. Everything will be okay.

Genesis has a guardian angel, and he has been watching her- keeping her safe. After the accident, however, his job gets a whole lot harder. They call it an accid...more
I stumbled across this gem when I saw a review here on Goodreads. Then when I went to Amazon and saw I could download it for free, I thought, "Why not?" Glad I did. I really liked the story, and kept wanting to read to see what happened next. However, I felt like there's a whole lot more to Genesis then what we got. I was left wondering if she's always been "special" or if her accident jump started something? I would've liked to have seen some more character development going on with her and Set...more
It was alright. A quick, one-day read that was entertaining enough that I read through the whole thing, but not enough that I was wanting to continue the series. The two main characters didn't really have any kind of chemistry or history, they were just kinda "there" all of a sudden. Overall, I gave it 2 stars mostly because it wasn't awful, and it was free on Amazon.

The 1st book of the series hooks you in and makes you beg for more. What starts as a teen love triangle turns Genesis' worlds upside down and leaves everyone involved wondering what the hell happened. An accident, a boy and an entire world hidden in the shadows; not to mention demons. Genesis' gifts, her visions of the future, have become the focal point of the war, which ever side controls Genesis controls the fate of good and evil. But who is truly evil and who will she lose to fight this war....more

i have only one word to say.SETH.

i didn't have high hopes for the book i really prayed for it to be phenomenal which sadly it wasn't
the plot was great but it lacked depth and consistency.
i love Genesis and Seth, and they look great together but i just wish there was more action and depth to the story.
the book isn't very clear and griping and neither is it the kind of where you stay up late night and are on the edge and finish it but nonetheless it's a nice decent romantic read.

Genesis isn't a pushover and I love it. She knows her own mind and she isn't afraid to speak up. She's strong, courageous, and compassionate. While she doesn't have the best relationship with her mom, she still loves her and puts up with all the drama.

I love the idea of the Guardians. I mean c'mon, who wouldn't want Seth to look out for them? He's sweet, protective, and witty. Carter is a good guy too. He's generous and kind. Stu is great. He has me craving breakfast for dinner.

Good book! I coul...more
Compared to other paranormal YA novels, this book was lacking in just about everything -- details about the plot, character development, plausibility. It left me wanting more in just about every sense, and I don't know that I will bother reading the rest of the books. I don't feel that I went on a journey with any of the characters, and I'm not buying the insta-romance, nor am I quite following why things happened the way they did or what these people actually are. Not sure if this was enough to...more

I just read the other parts in fast forward.. yeah. Not worth my time..
First things were going well. I thought that for once a paranormal book was going fast enough..
But then it all started to seem senseless...things were just happening for the sake of happening..
For creating false thrill and all..
Every guy who meets the girl falls for her..
Another irritating trait..
The other parts I read..
Nope..not going there..
Could have been better. I had hopes..

Exciting and simple

the plot is thrilling and the characters so realistic. the book is easy to understand and I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series
I liked this book, but I thought that the main character was a little whiny. This review will be short basically. I liked the other characters, but Genesis could definitely use a little tweaking because she had a boyfriend that is in love with her and she could see that. I do like Seth too, but all of these guys fighter over a girl like that if I were a guy I would have just walked away.

I liked this story! I thought it was up to par on the storyline and the plotting. Loved the main characters and hated the right ones. Yes, there are some typo's.... I learn to over look them and go with the storyline and base my reviews from that.If the characters can show me feelings and be likable.... Then I base my review on that also.I personally liked the book.
OK, this book is so juvenile, and, such a rip off of Twilight. Did I like it? Parts of it, yes, but overall it's trying to be a unique story with a not so unique pushing it.

I am currently reading the sequel as it did take a turn unlike Twilight so I'm a little interested now to see where this is all going and how it will end up.

“Holy shit!"

"Since when is shit holy?”
“So far you've been like...a great secret."

A teasing smile plays at his lips. "A secret, huh? Well, if you think you've spent enough time saying goodbye you can go back inside and I'll just plan to meet you in your room. Unless, you know, you're done with me."

"I'm never done with you.”
