I've read this book, and I've passed it along to some of my friends. It's for young adults, but anyone can enjoy it. The title character, Valentine, is a great example of "girl power". I've read Woolaston's other two books, and I think she a very creative indie author. Valentine's bravery and her realtionship with the girl she takes in (Melinda) is sweet and inspiring.

This book starts out as a young woman drives all the way to California to save her father who is missing. She encounters danger, but helps a number of strangers along her journey. I really liked the friendship between Val and Melinda who is an orphan. I enjoyed this story very much. Val is a strong character, and the book is well written.

A great story. I enjoyed the "girl power" premise that runs through the entire book. The characters are a bit 2 dimensional but it works for the story and I like them. Leaves you wanting more now and in the future. A good read.

The story also deals with the issue of bullying and violence against women. My only complaint: its too short! I wanted to read so much more. Thankfully, there's a sequel, and I think the author is going to publish a paperback soon. I can't wait! Val is a great character, and I like the way she looks out for the people ...more

I'm a writer, reader, and lover of anime, books, poetry and punk rock. I have been writing books for myself since first grade, and self-published my first book in 2009, titled "Fortune's Wing". I have published other books since then, and I'm still writing. I also write poetry, song lyrics and play a little guitar.
