I thought I liked the series opener, Promise, but I had no idea how much I would love the second installment. Honestly, it was even better than the first. I'm loving everything about this series and can't believe I have to wait so long to find out what happens next in the third book. Kristie Cook really knows how to keep her readers and fans wanting more!

Promise left me very sad at the end and I wad dying to know what would become of Tristan and Alexis would deal with everything that happened. S...more

This book was better than Promise, and I loved Promise! There is not much I can say without spoiling the book. I'll say that I couldn't put it down. I really got invested in Alexis and her emotions, almost like I could feel everything she did. It made for a pretty intense read. I can't wait till the next one comes out. Please hurry Kristie!! If you haven't read them, get on it!
Warning: There is a bit of language and sex. So steer clear if you can't handle that.

I received the book for free throu...more

The book as a whole was a satisfying sequel to Purpose, though you won't feel that on the first quarter of the book. Life and real action begins on the second quarter of the book. The thing that made it different from Promise is the fact that it reveals another aspect of Tristan and Alexis' love, and the Amadis in general. The way Alexis has different personalities and turned moody most of the time, really irritated me to the bones. and I admired how Sophia was able to stand up by her. There was...more

It's funny because I'm siting here trying to come up with adequate words for this review when really I feel like saying "hot....wow... amazing....yippy...ohh...nice....need to fan self....HOT"...You think that's good enough? For those of you who have read this book already I know you are shaking your head YES because you fully understand what I am referring to. For those of you who haven't read Purpose, please do yourself a favor and purchase a little of Tristan for Christmas. You won't be disap...more

This wasn't an easy read. In the first book, we don't know the outcome of whether or not Tristian is alive. We see the birth of Dorian and the book comes to an end. The beginning of this we see that 7 years has gone by. And Alexis is still in a very emotional grieving process. I had a couple problems with this. It's been 7 years, she should have found a way to cope by then. She should have been rational to be a mother to her son. The extreme emotional breakdowns, after...more

Purpose picked up where Promise left off so well. Again, I was SO GLAD I had it by my side when I finished Promise. I am EAGERLY awaiting Devotion in Feb 2011 and Genesis, a Novella available Oct 19th 2011 in ebook form!

Alexis is getting through life without the other half of her soul. Dorian keeps her busy and so does her writing. They keep her grounded and from falling over the edge completely.

This book was INTENSE! The imagination of author Kristie Cook is outstanding. I love the paranormal...more

It was more than easy to fall in love with the first book in the Soul Savers series – Promise. With an incredible story, writing and amazing characters that stick with you, I knew that as I read the last page I needed to know more. Thankfully I didn’t have to wait but a few short months for the second book – Purpose to be released. Let me just say that Cook has totally outdone herself. Her writing and story from one book to the next blended and flowed and her characters were the same that I fell...more

It was a bit slow at first, I wasn't feeling the new sides of Alexis.

Once the book got started I really enjoyed it though. I'm intrigued as to what happens in the next book, I want to know more, however, the reader, and Alexis finally find out a bit more about her heritage which I really liked.

A great addition to the first novel. Such a compelling story that I immediately fell in love. Can't wait to see what's in store for Tristan & Alexis in the next one. Great Story!

Aw, this book was fantastic. I loved all of the twists and turns that were included and they kept me reading. Also the part when Lexi was beside herself because of Tristan-for 7 years-was not over done or drawn out. Which I really liked because it can be hard to harness in such a dramatic time, and sometimes authors make this the main focus for the entire book. I hope that in the next book there is a little bit more of Owen however. He is such a dynamic character and each book leaves me wanting...more

LOVED this book. LOVING this series. Read the first 2 books in as many days. Thrilled that I found them now so that I only have to wait until Feb. to read book #3. Which is about as long as I could stand. They are like Twilight (which I also loved) for adults. AND Twilight for Christians. But with none of the sappy, overly positive, fakey spin that would usually accompany such a premise. The characters are fascinating, honest, powerful, and people I so wish I knew in real life. The story is Bril...more

Though I didn't like the ending of Promise, I knew there would be a sequel, so when I finally got to read Purpose, I was thrilled. It was good to discover just how things work out for Alexis and her son. Kristie did a great job of putting me inside Alexis's skin so I could feel her pain and confusion over losing Tristan. I got to a point where I was just as angry with him as she was for his leaving her. This is Kristie's best book yet and I look forward to more books in the Soul Saver series.

This is my first review on a book, and just as losing your virginity should be with a special someone ,I think this book is worth it .
I never thought I would cry because of a book but when I finished the first part tears ran down my face. The ending really broke my heart and in a matter of minutes I bought the second and third part and started reading them. Almost half the book(purpose)I couldn't stop crying, and when my mom called and I told her why she said I'm such a silly girl. Kristie made me...more

I really DON'T want to be a 'DebbieDowner' but...after reading the second book I just don't think I'll continue with the series, at least not right now. Since I'm sleepy and can't properly convey my feelings, I'll just list them.
*This book is more romance than anything paranormal. Again I'm not really interested in reading books where romance is the main point (I said this in my review of the first book); I like it as a second thought.

*You don't find out TRULY what Alexis is until the end of the...more

Not gonna lie... very twilight-esq beginning... Tristan is gone... Alexia is severly depressed. Very very silimiar. Except it's been 7 years. I adore this book, Twilight-like or not. I love this series so far. The writing has me laughing out loud (which honestly isn't hard) and crying (which is hard) There are parts of the plot that hit home for me, personally. Obviously as a Heaven vs Hell type book, the religion and faith that is brought up in the book is, to me, the most powerful part of the...more

Read this in 5 hours...very good follow up! It took a while to get going though. The first part of the book didn’t have much action and in a nut shell, Alexis is now 27 years old. The first 25% of the book covered the 7 years without Tristan. 7 long, depressing, sad years. 7 years that Alexis fights the thoughts that Tristan is dead. Her writing and their son Dorian is what keeps her going during this time, but even with that, she is depressed. She lashes out at her mother and Owen. She lets her...more

I don’t know about anyone else, but the beginning of this book was hard to handle. I won’t go into detail in case you haven’t read the first book, Promise, in this series, but Alexis is very depressed. The depression is what makes about a large portion at the beginning of the book. The author takes us where Stephenie Meyer did not take us in New Moon. In New Moon, most of the depression is skipped over and shown with simple pages marked with a month. In Purpose, the author explains the emotions...more

This week has been a very good week because I read Kristi Cook's first and second novel in the Soul Savers Series! My only complaint is that I have to wait X (?) amount of months for the third novel to be published.

Highlights of this novel for me included the different personalities Alexis would take on in dealing with her grief in losing Tristan. Having lost some loved ones to early in life, I know the feeling of Psycho Alexis lashing out at little things as she is unable to deal with everyday...more

My Thoughts:
My first thought was absolute avarice! I was positively gleeful to find out what happened to Tristian and Alexis. I wasn't quite crouching over my Nook, and hissing "My precious" like Gollum in LOTR, but that's highly likely to happen when I get to Devotion. As you can see from the previous posts, my obsession this week has been the Soul Saver series, beginning with Promise and also including Genesis, and Purpose does not disappoint!

We pick up with Alexis seven years later, where she...more

"Purpose" is an equally enjoyable sequel to 'Promise.' This story takes place 7 years after 'Promise' ends. Alexis is a mess. Her moods and personality changes waver from depression, anger, madness and numbness. She has aged and gained weight and she just cannot get on with the business of living without her soul mate, Tristan. The only person that somewhat keeps her from ending it all is her son, Dorian. He is the love of her life and she does not want to leave him without both a mother and a f...more

I really liked Kristie Cook's first book Promise and was excited to start reading the second book. I started reading it Monday evening late and I had severe difficulties not reading it throughout the whole night. I got my sleep and finished it on Tuesday. I loved this book!

Purpose starts 7 years after Tristan had to leave Alexis. They had a very short honeymoon, which was interrupted by Daemoni attack. Alexis is still waiting Tristan to return. After 7 long years, her mind is getting very torme...more

Wow, I am really enjoying this series. The first book was great, but this second book of the series is wonderful. It's a typical good vs evil story with vampires, werewolves, warlocks, etc. with a love story. A mix between Harry Potter and the Twilight Series (with maybe too many similarities with Twilight). **Spoiler Alert** But what I love the most about this series is that the "good" side are Angels - the strength and power and love come from God. What I didn't like about the Harry Potter ser...more

Today's review is on the book Purpose by: Kristie Cook

Puropse is the second book in Cook's Soul Savers series and sadly is a big flop in my opinion.

The first quarter of the book focuses on Alexis and her self loathing. Even with Tristan being gone for 7 years she still mourns his loss to the point where I as a reader became bored out of my mind. She is so distraught that her mother has pretty much taken over as a parent of Alexis' son Dorian.

Finally, when I was just about ready to put the book d...more

The wonderful Kristie Cook has done it again! Just like with her first novel, Promise, I fell in love immediately! I cannot wait until I can get the next one! This book takes place seven years after Promise ended. In that time poor Alexis has been in a horrible state of depression and many other mental problems. Her mother is still with her to help her care for her son. In this novel Alexis goes through many moods that she would classify as Foggy Alexis, Evil Alexis, Angry Alexis, Almost Normal...more

Purpose is even better than the book that came before it! If I could give this book an infinite rating, I would. In Promise, Kristie Cook showed us the joy and happiness of first and true love. But in Purpose, she shows us the opposite; the heartache and despair left behind when that love and hope is taken away.

It's been seven years since the Daemoni attack that took Tristan away from Alexis. It's unknown whether he's alive or dead. The o...more

3.5 rating! After that cliff-hanger at the end of Promise (book 1) I had to start this book straight away. I was dying to find out what happened! And again, Kristie Cook doesn’t disappoint with her story.

After the events in Promise….seven years have passed. Everyone believes Tristan is dead other than Alexis. As the years have gone by, Alexis has never given up hope but has slowly slipped into a state of depression. As Alexis tries to battle her inner demons, she is forced to choose between her...more
