Eat Slay Love (Living With the Dead #3)
by
Jesse Petersen (Goodreads Author)
Sarah and David have survived the zombie apocalypse. They stood side by side and fought the undead, mad scientists, and even bionic monsters until the unthinkable happened. A zombie bite. But not even that could stop them. Now, with a possible cure in hand, they're headed east, looking for a safe zone behind the rumored "Wall." They're feeling pretty optimistic.

Toujours aussi drôle et déjanté. David est "surprenant", et le couple rencontre 2 nouveaux personnages dont la dynamique est assez amusante. On a toujours notre lot irrévérencieux de petites références musicales, people, geek. ^^ J'ai adoré le particulier McCray, ex chanteur has been de boys band (rien que ça) toujours défoncé, et qui semble dans le vent.

I loved it and it was a quick read, a little more so than the other two books...
And while I wished it was longer and the plot a little less obvious...I can't say I didn't love it.
Sarah and David, dear. There are no words for my love of them. And I can't wait for another possible book about their adventures before the revolution. Or possibly a book about the revolution.
Jesse, four of of five in my book. And I'm going to definitely add these to my personal library.

Sarah and Dave are heading towards the rumoured Midwest wall; with the cure for being a zombie in their pocket. Quite literally a test-tube that could save the country, possibly the world
David, meanwhile, is changing. Since he was bitten by a zombie and cured, he hasn’t been quite human. And while this comes with certain advantages, it also comes with a whole lot of worries.
Not least of which is trying to keep it – and a secret – from their new companions. The aging, perpetually stoned rocker is...more

(Spolier Alert: Do not read unless you’ve read the previous two books in the Living With The Dead series.)
If you’re familiar with some of my more recent reviews, you’ll know I’m a big fan of the Living With The Dead series. So I was very excited to sink my teeth into (no zombie pun intended) Eat Slay Love by Jesse Petersen and read it in just a few days.

I have loved traveling with Sarah and David on their quest from Seattle to the Midwest Wall. They have had so many different trails while on their journey to something that may or may not even exist. They have come across numerous different people that were not always helpful, sometimes paranoid, and most often just flat out crazy. The zombie slaying keeps the pages filled with action and fighting.

I had my doubts about Eat Slay Love. For starters, even though I am a zombie enthusiast, zombies tend to work better in movies than books. However, I was pleasantly surprised by Jesse Petersen's contribution to popular zombie fiction.
Our heroes, Dave and Sarah, set out to head for the Midwest Wall near Normal, IL. The Wall is supposed to be the dividing line between the population that has been wiped-out by the zombie apocalypse and the survivors. Normal, IL also happens to be where Sarah's moth...more

In Eat Slay Love we rejoin my favorite post zombie apocalypse married couple, Sarah and David, as they attempt to get to the rumored “Wall” in the east, hoping to find safety from the society that’s let them down. I mean, zombies are the ultimate letdown, right? Of course, with these two, you know it’s not gonna be smooth sailing, and the seas get pretty rough during this outing. See, there was an incident in the last novel that...more

Eat Slay Love is fast paced, funny, and action packed with an added emotional center that just draws me into this series. So many novels (especially of the paranormal persuasion) focus on a couple meeting and falling in love. Petersen's Living with the Dead series goes beyond that initial attraction to focus on the work involved in sustaining a relationship long-term...even in the face of a crazed cult leaders, personal injury, and a full scale zombie apocalypse.

Eat, Slay, Love is the final book in the zombie spoof trilogy, Living with the Dead. After dodging impending divorce and then flipping zombies, the couple looks for the safe zone in order to pass on a cure for the zombie plague.
I don't know how much farther this series could have gone without diminishing in quality, but I was very sad to get to the end. The final book does not wrap everything up neatly and I am glad it did not. I think this series ended perfectly.

EAY SLAY LOVE, by Jesse Petersen, is the continuation of the Living with the Dead series following Sarah and David's journey to the "Wall" to (hopefully) get the only known zombie-cure to government scientists to end the zombie/human war. But as usual nothing is easy for this once-almost-divorced couple, they are faced with cults, David's strange new bitten-related behaviors, teaming up with a TMZ-like stalkerazzi, a druggie rockstar...and of course BRAAAAIIN eating zombies.

Eat Slay Love is a highly funny, super fast paced, action packed thriller of a read. This is book 3 in the series and the first I have read, so you could pick up the series at any book. Jesse Petersen's witty, sarcastic and very snappy writing is fantastic and like nothing I have ever read before.

Originally, when I picked up the first Book Married With Zombies in this series, it was the funny, sarcastic humor that Sarah and David kept while fighting like married people in light of a Zombie Infection Disaster that had me loving the book. But then the funny faded a bit in Book 2 Flip This Zombie, and the reality of how fast and complete something like this could happen, was sinking in and overshadowing some of the snarky humor I originally totally loved. By the beginning of this Book 3, I...more
I'm not going to lie - out of all the horror monsters out there if the zombie apocalypse ever actually happened I would just drop dead from fright - something about them just freaks me out on way too many levels.
So when I saw the ‘Living with the Dead' series I was very dubious about reading it - but I was sick of the other genres I had been reading so I thought I would give it a go.
I read each book in a few hours and could not put them down - one of the pluses with this genre is that I NEED to...more

I knew nothing about Jesse Petersen, nor had I ever heard of this book. I didn’t know her style, what she wrote about, or anything else she had written.

I got an eGalley of this book through NetGalley(dot)com. This is the third book in the Living with the Dead series. I really enjoyed this book and thought it was the best in the series so far. The book is hilarious and lots of fun, but in this installment there is also a complicated and intriguing plot too. Petersen isn't contacted for any more books in this series, but has said she might consider self-publishing more in the future. Shambling in the Dead was recently released and that is a short...more
I honestly liked this book better than the previous ones in the series. I guess it's because of the less predictable scenarios and more action filled pages. Zombies doesn't seem to be the main problem of Sarah and David now in this part of the series, and I liked that the author was able to look into the fact that fellow humans are also a huge threat to other survivors but she was able to balance out the situation with Kathleen's character and her crew.

And here comes the redemption, just in time before I totally despise this series! I love the connection there is now between David and Sarah. I also love that this book isn't all about Sarah anymore and her annoying heroine boost that's just simply too much at times. The plot has improved so much compared to the first books - Yes, zombies still need their daily doze of braaains, there are still crazy survivors, and some less crazy ones. But I like the new additions - like Nicole and her bitchy c...more

OMG! Did the ending of Flip This Zombie just bring you to tears? It should have. The Mad Scientist had me WORRIED. I really thought he may be the end of David and Sarah, but in a blaze of glory it wasn’t. *sigh of relief* Heading to the Wall with a little HOPE in their hearts, our favorite zombie killing couple’s woes are not over. These two are going to add to their merry duo a paparazzi journalist and ex-rocker. It will remain to be seen if these two can be trusted or prove themselves to be a...more

Petersen does a good job of bringing in enough new characters to keep things interesting while still focusing on the main couple.

A further month after the events of Flip This Zombie, Eat Slay Love details life after Dave’s zombie bite and subsequent cure. It worked. Dave is still in one piece, he’s just a little.. different. And people are starting to notice. In particular, one stalkerazzi reporter, Nicole, who they meet. She ends up being a little more useful than expected on their way to the Midwest Wall to share the cure with somebody who could do some good with it and of course, finally, safety.

This book is part of a series about a married couple with issues, who get caught up in the zombie apocalypse, and try to survive. In this installment, they are driving northeast toward the Wall in the midwest, where rumor has it, there is an enclave of uninfected people. They carry what they believe is a cure for zombie infection (at least for early cases). I found the adventures interesting, but not thrilling, and there was for me a little too much irrelevant chatter. I prefer booklike Go-Go Gi...more

Okay, usually, I'm not for married couples-in-therapy as a big part of the plotline, but Petersen won me over from the very first page in the first book in this series, "Married with Zombies". From there it has only gotten better and better, especially with this third installment in the series. Throwing a few new characters into the mix has presented our Heroes with more problems, but we also have a somewhat happy end (as we wait for more books for the series) as a silver lining to...more

Quick Review:
Eat Slay Love is a perfect addition to the Living with the Dead series. It picks up right where Flip This Zombie left off: Sarah and David making their way to the "Wall" that is rumored to be zombie free. There, they plan on somehow getting the cure into the right hands. Unfortunately, the "Wall" is more trouble than expected because the government may be behind the zombie apocalypse. (not a huge shocker) This little dystopian twist was definitely welcomed.

Why I Like the Zombie TV, Movies, and Fiction that I do Like: I'm not really a horror fan. Serial killers and psychopaths with hatchets I can take or leave. Vampires and werewolves etc. are ok, but I like them more as part of a romance or some sort of mystery to be solved - very girlie, yes, I know. The zombie stuff I like tends to have a lot of humor - Zombie Land, the first 2 books in this series. I also like the books etc. that deal with unique and interesting solutions to the day to d...more

I absolutely love this series. I think part of it has to do with the fact that I’ve listened to the entire series so far on audiobook — Cassandra Campbell is a great narrator and I really can’t imagine Sarah’s voice without the narration!
This was an awesome installment to the series. It was so good that I found myself listening to the entire thing in a day — something I don’t do very often when it comes to audiobooks. I just had to know what was going to happen! One of my favourite things about...more

Somewhere between the novel version of a campy B horror movie and AMC’s The Walking Dead exists Jesse Peterson’s Living With The Dead series (containing three books – Married with Zombies, Flip This Zombie and Eat Slay Love – and I swear I saw another one coming out but now I can’t. Pants are sad.).

Sarah and David have been through a lot together: the zombie apocalypse, bionic zombies, mad scientists, backstabbing people, killing their zombie therapist, the list goes on. David was actually bitten by a zombie, but they administered a cure in the nick of time and he seepyms fine. They still have a vial of the cure and hope to take it over the fabled Wall in the east. Things are going along as normal as can be in the zombie apocalypse until David starts behaving strangely. He suddenly has sup...more

A Facebook application once told Jesse Petersen that she'd only survive a day in a zombie outbreak, but she doesn't believe that. For one, she's a good shot and two, she has an aversion to bodily fluids, so she'd never go digging around in zombie goo. Until the zombie apocalypse, she lives in the Tucson with her husband and two cats and writes snarky urban fantasy about monsters and zombies. Find...more
