House-sitting for her parents seemed like a good idea, until the microwave blew up and the lights went out.
Now Chloe Burke thinks upgrading the electrical system of her childhood home while they are away would make the perfect Christmas gift. Fortunately, there's an electrician in town who can get the job done by the holidays.

Holiday Sparks is a short story from the Naughty and Nice Anthology, and since each story has also been released as a short, I'll review them separately.
Chloe Burke has come home to house sit for her parents who have taken a holiday cruise. It’s been a long time since Chloe has been here, and much to her surprise the house is an accident waiting to happen. She learns this the hard way when she tries use the microwave and loses electricity to half the house. Had she found the note her mother left...more

I don't know how much my enjoyment of this read was affected by the recent change in my reading time, which has been seriously reduced due to my going back to work full time, but the end result is what matters: I loved it! It was such a cute and sexy Christmas story!

Re-read Dec. 2012. Not quite as good as I remember, but still worth the quick read!
This was an excellent Christmas novella. Although it's very short (7 chapters), it does manage to pull off a bit of depth.
I liked this couple. The hero has been infatuated with the heroine since high school. I love books like this! I loved the humor in this book and the dialogue was quick and snappy. I finished this book in one sitting without a problem and finished it with a smile on my face.

If you're a fan of Shannon Stacey (and if you're not, you're totally missing out. She's a fav contemporary author! Auto buy!) then you'll be thrilled to know this might be a short story, but it's packed with her trade mark tongue in cheek humor, emanates emotion with every page, and was just an all around great read.
This was a reread for me ~ I'd read it last year, but I totally enjoyed it again.

Holiday Sparks by Shannon Stacey is sweet, sexy, and full of the Christmas spirit. Once again, Ms. Stacey has drawn me into her characters and the wonderful plot of this story to the point I couldn’t get enough. Kojack is an awesome pet, and I always enjoy the gossip that comes with living in a small town.

After a little tweet from Angela James about how she couldn't put Shannon Stacey's book down I decided to give her another try. I wasn't completely sold on her when I tried her 2nd book, but figured hey...it's a short one. Ill give her another try.
I'm glad I did.

I really enjoyed this story. Chloe is housesitting for her parents back in her hometown, and Scott is the electrician who comes to do some repairs after Chloe blows a fuse. They went to high school together, but while Scott pined for her, Chloe, a popular cheerleader, didn't even know he existed.

The nobody boy gets a chance with the hottest cheerleader from high school. What a Christmas present. Scott has changed a lot in the last 10 years but Chloe is just as beautiful as ever, however, now Chloe is noticing him. I liked that Chloe was a bitchy cheerleader and remembered the boy who gave her a dandelion. They both agree on a Holiday Fling, but can they do that without having heartbreak in the end.

As the owner of a home with aluminum wiring, I TOTALLY empathized with the heroine Chloe in Holiday Sparks who turns on the microwave and blows a fuse. And the note her mother left her about the wiring -- yup, been there too. Shannon Stacey writes with a deft touch, just the right amount of humor along with the romance.

Conflict: (???) I mean, there isn't really a TRUE conflict (or at least one that would cause any distress). They like each other, but they're both too scared to take it beyond just "hooking-up". Extremely realistic conflict that many readers could appreciate. He (Scott) works/lives in Maine, and she (Chloe) works/lives in Boston. They decide to have a Christmas Fling for three weeks (Fa la la la la!) but then they actually fall completely in-love with each other, so the "long-distance issue" beg...more

Cute story. Stand-alone. Hot electrician, used to be the school's geek back in high school. The cheerleader he used to drool over is back in town to spend Christmas with her parents, and is waiting at their house for them to come home from vacation. While there she discovers their house needs a major electrical upgrade and calls Scott in from the phone book. She can't remember him, because obviously he has changed and is now a hottie. He still drools over her. They decide to have a holiday fling...more

Scott had a crush on Chloe since childhood but he didn't get the chance to date her because he was different back then and they were in different worlds too. My Review:
I enjoyed this book. It wasn't a new storyline...boy & girl knew each other in high school, one was cool, one was decidedly not, unrequited crush, years later and the chemistry is through the roof when they meet again. What was a bit different about this story line was that in this story, it was the guy that was seriously uncool in high school. This was a cute and sexy holiday story. The tone was perfect for a holiday novella - fun, light, sexy. The problem was the message, which was larded on a bit too thick - small town good, big city bad. By the end of this fairly short novella, I was ready to gag (and I like small towns in moderate doses!) I’ve heard a lot of good things about Shannon Stacey but if this is her typical storyline, I think I’ll pass. (Too bad because her writing kept me reading even when the storyline annoyed me.)
So I promised the husband I'd buy no more books for a while. I have a ton in the bookshelf and on my kindle that are waiting to be read. BUT, I'd heard so much about this book that I couldn't resist. What a fun book! I loved the story and the characters. As always with a novella, my complaint is that I would have liked to spend more time with them. Definitely worth the look I'll get from the hubby. And for under $3, it's a bargain for sure. :)

Sweet little story. Shannon Stacey is a new find of mine, and I have enjoyed everything I have read of her contemporaries. I don't usually enjoy short stories because everything seems rushed and roadblocks to happily-ever-after seem to magically disappear. Everything seemed believable (well, as believable as it gets in Romancelandia), roadblocks were dealt with realistically and they were a fun couple, likeable couple that seemed comfortable and happy together.
Really cute, sweet little contemporary that does a lot with it's short page space. I love Stacey's writing style and she does a wonderful job with building the world of her characters', really fleshing it out and making it feel inhabited. The hero in this is also really sweet, and I LOVE his dog. The dog could practically have his own book he's so wonderfully written.

Cute, fluffy holiday romance. Both the hero and heroine are very likeable. This is a second-chance romance of sorts, as they gew up in the same small town, but she doesn't remember him. He had a crush on her and very much remembers her. It's also a geek-turned-hunk romance. There's plenty of chemistry and hot love scenes and just the right tiny amount of angst for a fluffy holiday read.

This is my second Shannon Stacey's books. I love her writing style and I love how she can made heartwarming effect when I finished her books (the first book I read is one of those Kowalski man). Maybe because this book is a novella, a very short story, so I was like... craving more about Scott and Chloe relationship. And Kojak is really cute.
