I've read and reviewed this before but I've since read The Siren and The Angel and know Eleanor so much better, I felt the need to go back and revisit.

First off let me make it clear that I liked this short story!
The only problem was that it was too short. :(
Having read The Siren by Tiffany Reisz, I think I likely enjoyed this story more than someone who hasn't. I enjoyed getting a glimpse of Nora from her past, and her time with Daniel was well..... spent. ;)

What a great quickie. This novel was so easy to read, and brought the characters about so quick and wonderfully I was surprised when it ended that I didn't feel left out or wanting as i sometimes do. The story was perfect for the medium, or length. DO I want more? Well yes in a sequel sort of way, but in this the story was there, it wasn't contrived or lacking and I am grateful. So often short stories are not true short stories, they have too much to them, or the assumptions they needed to make...more

Seven Day Loan is a prequel to Reisz’s The Siren , a prequel that I of course would read AFTER reading The Siren (oh well). The biggest “OMG” moment of The Siren is when you find out what Soren’s profession is. His profession is discussed in Seven Day Loan hence why I suggest reading it after, making the reveal in The Siren more of a surprise.

Really good but a short tease!

I waivered on how to rate this story. It was a battle of quality versus quantity for me. Is it well written and gripping? Did I enjoy the heck out it? Unequivocally, yes. Is it an extremely short and quick read? Well, at 38 pages, I'd say so. But, ultimately, I had to give the story and Miz Reisz the props deserved. So, so good! Seven Day Loan is a seductive short story, about an hour of reading. Though a quick read, emotionally it really packs a punch! As the first installment in the Original Sinners series (a novella: #0.5), this isn't a romance, at least not in the blatant conventional way. But it is erotic to be sure. Eleanor's unorthodox situation and the references to her master insinuate a profundity and soul-reaching sentiment that isn't fully grasped until the end. To be honest, I hated the ending. I liked Elenor & Daniel. Their issues created a prime situation for their hearts to mingle. But their sexy times were in extreme contrast to the tenderness they showed each other. That kind of created an unevenness that didn't allow me to be swept away.

3.5 stars. After reading "The Sinner," I wasn't sure I'd read any more in this series, but I already had this story on my Kindle (I picked it up when it was free), and I decided to give it a go. (The version I read was called "The Gift," but it appears from the description to be the same story.)

I gave The Siren two stars mainly because of the quality of the writing—and because I didn’t completely hate it. This novella, however, has made me doubt Reisz’s basic command of English. The book has to be really, really bad for me to notice its grammar. I’m terrible with commas and all other forms of punctuation but when words sound wrong to me it hurts my head.

This short novella was fantastic. I have fallen in love with The Siren and even though this short story isn’t written up to the standard of The Siren, it is still freaken amazing.

I loved 99.9 % of this book but have to go with 4.5 and I’m even dropping a star mostly because it was a novella and I usually don’t give 5 stars to books I really enjoyed and just felt like I was being teased. But to be honest I went in with the mind frame that I was going to give my first 5 star novella rating and a half a paragraph prevented me from doing so. My reviews are always about how I felt while I read them and that one half paragraph just loomed in the background for me.
