I've read and reviewed this before but I've since read The Siren and The Angel and know Eleanor so much better, I felt the need to go back and revisit.
So Eleanor, long before Nora Sutherlin was thought of, well trained submissive to Søren, is loaned out by him to spend a week with Daniel while he goes to Rome on 'business'. Daniel is a reclusive, widowed dominant who has been grief-stricken and living the life of a hermit since the death of his wife and submissive.

Once again, Tiffany Reisz goes all Mr. Mesmer on me and I am lost in her thrall!
This was a delicious morsel.
I am currently delving into the free sequels on the author's website.
Drool.
I'm becoming quite hopelessly enamored with Ms. Reisz' writing: her style and characters, her light and humorous tone. Simmering below the lovely writing is an angst and pathos that pulls my heart along effortlessly in its wake.

Hmmm...you don't really need a review out of me this time, do you? I'd think not, especially after all of the long winded reviews I've saddled you with this week. I've officially switched over to weekend mode already, so I'm slipping into lazy status early.
Okay, so Nora did manage to interest me in this one. I think it's possible that I might have a fondness for the younger version of Eleanor over the more recent version of worldly Nora. Color me perplexed over this riddle. This does make me mo...more

How are you, darling? Doing good?
I have to admit, I've enjoyed this glimpse in your past.
You've managed to surprise me... yet again. Somehow, you always do.
And, let me tell you this - I really like Daniel. Another lost soul, trying to find his way. There seem to be too many of those. Or, maybe, some are just a bit more lost than others?
You have such a good way with words. As good as with a crop. Oh, you'll figure out what I'm talking about. Just you wait.
I do like Daniel. But... not
Just read this for a second time because a friend is. I wish it was longer, but gosh, I love this book! The sequel is on the author's website.

First off let me make it clear that I liked this short story!
The only problem was that it was too short. :(
Having read The Siren by Tiffany Reisz, I think I likely enjoyed this story more than someone who hasn't. I enjoyed getting a glimpse of Nora from her past, and her time with Daniel was well..... spent. ;)

What a great quickie. This novel was so easy to read, and brought the characters about so quick and wonderfully I was surprised when it ended that I didn't feel left out or wanting as i sometimes do. The story was perfect for the medium, or length. DO I want more? Well yes in a sequel sort of way, but in this the story was there, it wasn't contrived or lacking and I am grateful. So often short stories are not true short stories, they have too much to them, or the assumptions they needed to make...more
Well what do you know. How to decide if you should start a new series by an author you haven't tried before? Read one of their short freebies. And boy am I glad I did!
When an author can manage such a great story in such a short space, it makes me want to grab her full books right away! And I shall....soon enough. Muahaha!
Anyways, lol, definitely gonna read this series now!

Seven Day Loan is a prequel to Reisz’s The Siren , a prequel that I of course would read AFTER reading The Siren (oh well). The biggest “OMG” moment of The Siren is when you find out what Soren’s profession is. His profession is discussed in Seven Day Loan hence why I suggest reading it after, making the reveal in The Siren more of a surprise.

Really good but a short tease!
Eleanor, a submissive, is loaned out by her Master to another Dom who has been living as a recluse for three years since his wife's death. Daniel and Eleanor are memorable characters. Right from the start these two found friendship and passion that left me feeling breathless and wanting so much more between them. Even though the sex scenes were hot, the emotional depth in the characters is what really grabbed me.

I waivered on how to rate this story. It was a battle of quality versus quantity for me. Is it well written and gripping? Did I enjoy the heck out it? Unequivocally, yes. Is it an extremely short and quick read? Well, at 38 pages, I'd say so. But, ultimately, I had to give the story and Miz Reisz the props deserved. Because this story packs quite a wallop in those 38 pages.

So, so good! Seven Day Loan is a seductive short story, about an hour of reading. Though a quick read, emotionally it really packs a punch! This is the story of Eleanor, the submissive of a man who "loans" her to a friend named Daniel for a week. Since his wife's death over three years ago, Daniel has not left his house. His friend (we never learn his name) believes that grief-stricken Daniel (also a Dom) would benefit from a week of Eleanor's attention. Eleanor is rather perturbed her master wo...more

Okay, and here I was, thinking that The Siren (by the same author) was a unique piece of writing. turns out this book, Seven Day Loan (a prequel of sorts) is just as good. So when You're done with The Siren, and you feel you need to jump into this world again, like AT ONCE, well this is it.
Absolutely shattering, loving, a story that takes you by the hand, shakes you brutally and then caresses your cheek and kisses your eyelids. There, there, all better.

As the first installment in the Original Sinners series (a novella: #0.5), this isn't a romance, at least not in the blatant conventional way. But it is erotic to be sure. Eleanor's unorthodox situation and the references to her master insinuate a profundity and soul-reaching sentiment that isn't fully grasped until the end. To be honest, I hated the ending. Then I sat on it, let it simmer, and began to gain some perspective. THEN I read The Siren (book 1 in the series, comes after this), and no...more
I liked Elenor & Daniel. Their issues created a prime situation for their hearts to mingle. But their sexy times were in extreme contrast to the tenderness they showed each other. That kind of created an unevenness that didn't allow me to be swept away.

When a short story can drag you in, tie you down, stun you and consume you ...you know you're dealing with a writer with real talent.
Tiffany Reisz has taken the world by storm with her book, The Siren, and her amazing, flawed but oh-so human characters. With Seven Day Loan we get a taste of Nora when a young submissive to Soren. The Gift (Seve Day Loan): This is a short story of 23-year-old Eleanor from the Original Sinners series. His Master, Søren, loans her to Daniel, another Dominant who is mourning the loss of his wife. The story is short, so instead of really deep characters, we get insights into their personalities and feelings during this 7-day-long journey, perfectly expressed through wide brush strokes and just the right filter of emotions, so that we can imagine the things left unsaid and still enjoy the flow...more

3.5 stars. After reading "The Sinner," I wasn't sure I'd read any more in this series, but I already had this story on my Kindle (I picked it up when it was free), and I decided to give it a go. (The version I read was called "The Gift," but it appears from the description to be the same story.)
I enjoyed this one more than "The Sinner," since there are no severe beatings in this book. However, there is a scene that definitely hit my "no way" meter. Let's just say it involves a man's entire hand...more

So yeah, what really got me was the fact that this girl's Dom was a priest. Color me intrigued, hence me going on to read The Original Sinners series.
Overall, it was a quick read, not very fleshed out but enough teasers to lead me to the series. I felt I've read better shorts that gave more and did more in spite of the length.

This is a prequel to the Original Sinners series. I read this after the first one. This was still about the time I was freaked out by Soren. And this story definitely shows why. Soren is Eleanor's Dominate. Soren literally loans Eleanor (Nora) to his friend for a week. Soren's friend, Daniel, is a shut in. Ever since the untimely death of his wife, Daniel hasn't left his property in years. But...more

I gave The Siren two stars mainly because of the quality of the writing—and because I didn’t completely hate it. This novella, however, has made me doubt Reisz’s basic command of English. The book has to be really, really bad for me to notice its grammar. I’m terrible with commas and all other forms of punctuation but when words sound wrong to me it hurts my head.

This short novella was fantastic. I have fallen in love with The Siren and even though this short story isn’t written up to the standard of The Siren, it is still freaken amazing.
It begins with Nora being dropped off by her Dominant at his friend’s house. Nora is to stay there for the week – hence Seven Day Loan – and this man is able to do whatever he pleases with her. Nora is a twenty-three year old Submissive and since her Dominant said she was to be lent out, there was nothing she could do...more

I don't usually write reviews for the short stories I read. Too much hard work when the reviewing could easily take longer than reading the book/story did. But, every rule has its exceptions, and this is one of them.
In this story, which takes place several years before "The Siren" starts, Soren has to go to Rome for a week and decides to loan the twenty-three year old Eleanor to a Daniel, a friend of his. Daniel lives in a huge estate in New England, a place he hasn't left for over three years,...more

I loved 99.9 % of this book but have to go with 4.5 and I’m even dropping a star mostly because it was a novella and I usually don’t give 5 stars to books I really enjoyed and just felt like I was being teased. But to be honest I went in with the mind frame that I was going to give my first 5 star novella rating and a half a paragraph prevented me from doing so. My reviews are always about how I felt while I read them and that one half paragraph just loomed in the background for me.
