Jimmy Stone has had several disappointments in his life. The book starts out with him as a third grader, anticipating his mother bringing his new baby sister home from the hospital, her name would have been Charlotte. In many ways this book feels like two half books. If only the two parts could be reunited with their matching halves you’d end up with a great book and a good book. As it is you’re left with one book that is just okay.

I don't read a lot of YA fiction but since I got my kindle I have been trying to read a wider range of books. The author has been promoting the book on Amazon's kindle forums so I thought I would give it a try.

First off, I must be noted that this is the first book in a series. And because of the fact that it's pretty short, most of it deals with the very important character development necessary to create and enhance the story.
I will not say that the book is boring, far from it, but it starts off slow and then only gets up to speed at the very end. It feels like one of those movies where you spend 75 minutes watching something very dull, and then the last 10 minutes contain all the action. This is not...more

I received this book from smashwords hoping for an early review. (sorry it's not as early as I like)...
Jimmy Stone's Ghost Town had some good ideas, and I really wanted to like it, but there were too many incongruities to make it pleasurable to read. The Point of view was in first person for a 10 year old boy, yet the vocabulary and thought processes written for Jimmy are that of a much older adolescent or even an adult. A fast-moving YA story that should resonate strongly with its target demographic, thanks to generous helpings of the good stuff: action, tween angst, and magic. Neumyer skillfully grounds the more fanciful elements of his story in an easily identifiable, down to earth tale of a sad, lonely boy who misses his mom and doesn't understand the turns his life has taken.

I read Jimmy Stone's Ghost Town on Saturday. The synopsis sounded fun, so I expected it to be a good read but it was even better than I imagined. I was immediately captivated by Jimmy and how easily the story flowed. You know how sometimes, you pick up a book and before you know it it's over? That's how it was for me. I was only aware of what I was reading and I absolutely love it when that happens! I can't wait to see what else Scott has in store. I give this book five stars.
I've been reading a lot of different sort of books since receiving my Kindle (ahem, FREE books) & this was one that I picked up. A quick, enjoyable read. The characters are definitely appealing and it has a serious edge that most YA novels don't have. That being said, the move into the fantasy world was not as exciting, and I wasn't interested enough to continue with the series by purchasing the next book.
Keep an open mind like you would when reading "Wizard of Oz" or "Alice in Wonderland" or even "Tom Sawyer" and you will find this an interesting read. I am assuming with the way it ended that there are more books to follow. I really didn't feel like this was a 'childrens" book but something along the lines of the books I mentioned that an adult would enjoy.
Nice little middle school book. I assume the first of 7 books???? It was a neat little story. My only complaint was a few uses of the word "sh**", as I honestly don't think appropriate for 5th graders. Other than that, fun story with a great main character. Hope there is more to come.
YA book by a new author - was a fast and enjoyable read on my Kindle.

I think this is a great book for kids and they'll love reading the further adventures of Jimmy Stone. Finely written for the age group.
