Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux wakes from a year-long coma to find herself changed—an angel with wings the colors of midnight and dawn—but her fragile body needs time to heal before she can take flight. Her lover, the stunningly dangerous archangel Raphael, is used to being in control—even when it comes to the woman he considers his own. But Elena has never done well with a...more

Loved this one, especially Raphael <3 he gets better with each book :)

Some of my favorite quotes:

"“Do you think you have the right to give me orders now?”

The Archangel of New York, a creature so lethal that part of her feared him even now, lifted the hair off her nape, brushed his lips across her skin. “Of course. You are mine.” No hint of humor, nothing but stark possession."

Ever since I read the previous novel, Angels' Blood, I have been waiting impatiently for this book to come out. I was nervous about reading it though. Sometimes I'll love the first book in a series and then feel disappointed in the following books. That is definitely not the case here. It was definitely worth the wait.

In this book we get to see the vulnerability of Elena in relation to all the other angels in her new world. She's used to being the strongest person and now has to deal with being...more

Ms. Singh has created an incredible, yet dark world here with the Guild Hunters. There is a mix of the sublimely beautiful and awe-inspiring and the deeply chilling and sometimes revolting. Although I prefer the traditional biblical angelic storylines, she has taken most of what I find alluring about angels and paired it with a storyline that features a race of angels who are sensual, primal, dark, and dangerous.

Archangel's Kiss is definitely urban fantasy romance on the dark edge. Singh doesn't...more

Hey! Be nice!

Just LISTEN for a second! Look, I’m not happy about this rating either okay?

OKAY???

I wanted to love this book. I really did. Hell, after reading the first one in the series I even expected to love this book. Obviously I didn’t get my way. What the hell happened? Where the hell did Elena go?

WHODAFUQ is this TSTL Mary Sue body snatcher that’s taken over her?

And WHEREDAFUQ did the intriguing plotline go?

And WHYDAFUQ is Raphael so disgustin...more

In the mood for a dark, intense and smoldering sexy read that may have you gasping for breath? Nalini Singh delivers this in ways you can’t imagine with Archangel’s Kiss, the second book in her Guild Hunter Novel series. The first book, Angels Blood introduced vampire hunter Elena Deveraux, who lives in an alternate New York City universe where angels rule and are things of wonder to bow down to and be very afraid of. Elena was ordered to hunt down a supernatural serial killer than ended up bein...more

I'm kind of totally over the alpha-animal-male-hero and tough-chicks-who-wear-thigh-high-leather-boots kind of literature, so it's a testament to this author that I really loved this book. I mean, there's a bunch of hot angels and vampires running around, this should be silly, right? But I loved the first book in this series and the second one was equally enjoyable. Even though this is definitely a romance book, and has a lot of genre tropes, I just always enjoy reading Nalini Singh. She's at th...more

Did a buddy read/reread of this with Amy and Sarah. This book was so much better the second time around. the first time I was on a high from Angels Blood and its non stop action. This time around I wasn't expecting it and got to just pay attention to the different characters as they get developed. I felt non of the ire against Elena that I felt the first time. Not sure why, I just connected with her better I think this time around. It was fun reading along with 2 others as their st...more

I was so exited for this book and so frustrated that the library didn't seem to be getting it in, that I finally caved and bought it.
And totally loved it. Nalini Singh's writing sucked me in from the first page. Raphael is sort of an uber-Alpha character which took some getting used to in the first book. There were parts of the first book where I honestly didn't want the pair getting together. But he grew on me and by the end of that first book I was hooked. There's still action in this book, b...more

GUEST REVIEWED BY KATI

If Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling series is a multi-part symphony, her Guild Hunters series is rock opera. This is a dark, moody, operatic series, where the author is utterly unafraid to go “there”. You know where I mean? No? Let me explain.

Elena Devereaux is a born vampire hunter. One who fell in love with the archangel Raphael, the angel who oversees North America. Except that, she’s recently been turned into an angel, and awakened from a year-long coma. She’s in the Refug...more

What can I say? Just WOW!, I wish I had read it before. So good. I loved it, read it through the night, couldn't stop. There is something in this new world that NS has created that will blow your mind, just like that.

I loved to read about Angels again, there is something that I found in them so interesting that makes me wanna read more and more. I love the concept that NS developed about them, so different from everything I have read. I swear that I never thought that reading about angels would...more

This book more or less takes off from where “Angels Blood” left off. Now that Elena has awoken with her wings she is taken by Raphael, her Archangel lover, to the beautiful but dangerous home called The Refuge, where the angels keep their children safe and hidden from mortals. But it seems that Raphael and Elena have made many dangerous enemies amongst the cold blooded and ruthless angel race and Elena has come to the attention of the passionless gaze of the Cadre. With an unknown angel trying t...more

Archangel’s Kiss is the second book of the Guild Hunter series that follows Raphael and the newly Made angel, Elena. I know this is supposed to be an urban fantasy romance, but I feel that Archangel’s Kiss focuses more on the romance this time around. A lot of the book is about Elena and Raphael learning to trust each other on a deeper level. Though some may find this annoying and hella boring, I think it’s essential for their relationship to work. Raphael is the goddamn archangel of New York so...more

My Thoughts:

This novel was way better than the first if that's possible, as Angels' Blood was amazing. Euphoric even. This series is a breath of fresh air in the monotony that is the PNR genre. This new addition doesn't disappoint either. I loved the raw chemistry between Elena & Raphael. I love how their relationship evolved. Evolved is a word used alot in this novel & describes it perfectly. Almost everyone evolved in some way, revealing parts of themselves the reader never knew &...more

I love this series so much. I think I want its book babies. I don't know what's wrong with me that I didn't read this series sooner. The plotlines are interesting, the characters fascinating, and the men...YUM. If I was a bigamist (and a character in the books), I would probably try to marry most of the guys.

This is my attempt to re-read the Guild Hunter series, since I used to love it so much. I can't say I feel the same way anymore. I guess I just grew out of it. Or maybe I stopped liking cavemen, and Raphael is one of the biggest cavemen out there. I'm not going to delete my older review. Let it burn my eyes from time to time.

Wow did I love this book. I won't go into plot, but these are my favorite parts:
1. Elena's development. Elena went from being the best hunter to the weakest angel. She needs to do a lot of adjusting in a compressed period of time, and I loved watching her grow and change.

2. Raphael. I think this is the very first depiction I've seen of immortal characters that rings absolutely true for me. After thousands of years, how could anyone relate to humans with only a few year's worth of experience? Con...more

Favorite quote(among favorite quotes):
"I'll never leave you, Elena." A glimpse of the archangel he was, used to power, to control. "And I'll never let you go."
Other women might've rebelled against such a claim, but Elena had never belonged to anyone. Now she did, and the knowledge began to fix something broken inside of her.

Archangel's Kiss is the second Novel in the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh. This series is gold! I honestly loved this series from Angel's blood page 1.
If you haven't read Angels Blood by Nalini Singh, what are you waiting for?? It's a book you will NOT want to miss. It's one of the best books I've read this year for sure. I'm so glad I picked up this series. Now, you have to!

It's incredibly bad. I liked Archangel's blade, could tolerate the first but this is just endless flowery prose, a main heroine who constantly thinks about sex, how sexy everyone is around her, how sexy the world smells, the sex she craves all the time, how hot everyone is, and she does it with bizarre phrases like 'ebony dipped in sapphire'. (When talking about hair. )
It just keeps going on, and on like this, pages of this, and then some recap of the last book, and then we're suddenly talking...more

4.5 stars: Archangel's Kiss picks up about a year after Angels' Blood left off. After the fight with Uram, when vampire hunter Elena and Archangel Raphael almost died, Elena wakes up from a year long coma to find out that she's been turned immortal. But she's not a vampire; she's the first Angel to be made in recent history. Angels are usually born, not Made. It's extremely rare, and makes her a point of interest for the other A...more

Archangel's Kiss is a riveting sequel to the thrilling Angels' Blood. Elena, the first ever angel-Made is getting used to her new life with wings. While Elena enjoys the seemingly peaceful confines of the Refuge, a vampire is found mutilated with a knife bearing the Guild's seal, buried deep within his chest. Someone is not happy with Elena's new status as Raphael's consort and has some plans of their own. Meanwhile another, larger...more

I enjoyed this book more than I did the first one, and I liked the first one a lot! The feel of this book was a bit different. It was more of a mystery, something I love to read about and try to figure out!!

Elena is now a *baby* angel. We get to see her adapting to her wings, the changes in her body, her weakness shows through in this book more, and allows Raphael (soooo sexy) to take care of her. We still see her as a hunter for now, and she'll be facing some decisions in the future.

Great read. The world building was just beautiful, the descriptions almost poetic and the story intriguing. It's a hard to put dowen book. And yet, there was something very aloof and perhaps detached in the writing, that prevented me from really getting involve, emotionally.
That been said, I will definitely read the next one.

When we left off at the end of the last book, Elena had just gained a few things, wings being the most prominent. A rare sort of miracle happened when Raphael and Elena fell in love -- he gained the ability to Make her. But not into a vampire -- into an angel. Being practically unheard of, Elena just became a rarity. But her uniqueness doesn't seem to be a plus in the angel world. As she heals in the Refuge (a place for angels and their vampires, no humans allo...more

Really2 like the relationship between Elena and Raphael , reminds me of Eve and Roarke from In Death series by J.D. Robb
Raphael's seven is adorable too, even though,Dmitri, the head of the seven just get a minor appearance in this book.

I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes).
