Hunters & Prey is my 3rd book of Katie Salidas. And I must say she doesn't disappoint me. Her other two books were short paranormal erotic novellas and she hooked me from there. So when she contacted me and asked me if I'd be interested in reading "Hunters & Prey" I immediately agreed. Now as GCR followers, you guys should know I am NOT really into paranormal books. But I must admit with Katie Salidas along with another author has lured me into the genre. And to my surprise, I'm really e ...more

Katie Salidas writes another great adventure for Alyssa and her clan called Hunters Pray. I enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one. Again you get a mix of Urban Fantasy, romance and Dark Fantasy. I love how Kate can mix these genre’s together and write a good book that each one can enjoy.

Alyssa is still trying to settle in her new vampire life and she finds she is having awful dreams. One night while she is out feeding she runs into trouble and runs to her old hangout where her and

Book 2 in the Immortalis series. Hunters and Prey takes place a while after the battle with Santino. The one that brought Lysander to the brink of death. Alyssa is still young and learning the ways of the vampire. She feeds only on those who deserve death; the dirt bags that prey on the innocent and had once tried to kill her, if not for Lysander she would be dead.

Hunters & Prey picks up (we have to assume) shortly after Immortalis Carpe Noctem left off ~ Post-Kallisto & Acta Sanctorum-battle with Alyssa continuing to struggle between her need for blood and having to kill her victims to keep her existence a secret.

Alyssa, while being followed by someone her clan isn't even sure is alive, seeks shelter in a cafe where she runs into her best friend, Fallon. Fallon hasn't seen Alyssa in a while. Once she starts asking questions she shouldn't know the

This book is a follow up to the Immortalis Carpe Noctem.

Alyssa, with the help of her ancient vampire mate, Lysander, has finally accepted that her mortal life is over. She's now living with him and his other "children", the Peregrinus clan. One evening while hunting, she thought she saw Santino Vitale, the most fearsome hunter of Acta Sanctorum (vampire hunters). She informed Lysander of this but he convinced her that Santino was dead or if he's not dead, it would take a lot of time and blood fo

I really love the visuals Katie Salidas creates with her writing; her descriptions were wonderful, and I really liked the flow of the book. I liked the first book in this series, but I didn't love it because the main character really annoyed me, and she continued to annoy me in this book, but I see some hope for her in this book! She makes some seriously damaging decisions in this book, that cause lots of problems for her friends. She doesn't think before acting, and although her intentions are ...more

Katie has done it again in the next chapter in the life of a young vampire named Alyssa!

When I began reading the new book by Katie, Hunters and Prey, I was a little bothered by the similarity between the way Alyssa chose her victims and how Nicholas Cage's character in Ghost Rider punished his victims. Nicholas punished 'bad' people by making them feel the pain of their victims. In Hunters and Prey, Alyssa chose her 'blood source' by taking blood from only those who had harmed others in some way

I’ve been anxiously awaiting the return of this series. I was extremely impressed with Mrs. Salidas’ first novel, Immortalis: Carpe Noctem, (an introduction to the vampires of Las Vegas) and her ability to make each character come alive. This book takes us even further into the lives of those now familiar characters, giving them new depth. Santino Vitale, a personal favorite of mine, returns and though he is still, an intimidating vampire hunter inspiring visions of serial-killer Michael Myers, ...more

How the mighty has fallen! I liked the twist to the story in this follow up in the Immortalis series. This kept me entertained all the way through the book. I think this should be a very interesting story for future books in this series and I'm interested to see what becomes of the Acta Sanctorum.

I didn't think I would, but I liked the fact that Alyssa feeds only on bad guys. I'm not usually fond of vampires killing their meals, but I found this worked for me. I found Alyssa's will to not harm

Vampire stories have become so prevalent in today’s fiction that even readers outside the genre are aware of the trend. This preponderance of preternatural fantasy can make it more and more difficult to find a truly original spin on the vampire myth. Sparkles, soul mates, daywalkers, and boarding school... even though there are great examples of each of these tropes, sometimes it’s hard to find the good hidden amongst the derivative. I am going to review this as a series instead of three separate books. Sometimes a vampire book can seem the same after reading so many, and lately I have had the pleasure of reading some wonderful vampire stories that have put an original twist to them. As with this series I am happy to say this series has that something different that I am always looking for in a great book.

I have to say Hunters & Prey Book 2 in the immortals Series is one of the greatest vampire love stories I have read in a long time. It is actually up there with the Twilight Saga! I won this as a free book on from the author.

This book is about a women named Alyssa who had a rough last day of her old life; she was beat to within a inch of her life and was almost raped until her now lover/maker Lysander saved her and changed her into a vampire. She is still trying to cope. The d

In the vampire realm, humans are considered food, so what happens when the former best friend of a vampire, is the one that saves her from death? In this second installment, IMMORTALS: HUNTERS AND PREY, Katie Salidas turns the table on the very belief system of her vampire clan. Has she just signed a death warrant for her best friend? The real problem is, can she save her friend from her own blood lust? This is a well-written and gritty vampire ta

Alyssa felt, deep down inside, that her biggest enemy, Santino, didn't perish in the showdown in Las Vegas. He haunts her dreams causing horrible daymares. When she's out feeding and he appears in the shadows, her daymares become a reality. Wow!...Intense! The strength of Alyssa’s control and the depth of her rage will reel you in!

Katie Salidas has done it again! In Hunters & Prey, book 2 of her Immortalis Series, Salidas has continued Alyssa’s adventures with an “insiders” look on the trials and tribulations of a newly turned vampire.

As we learned in book one of the series, Immortalis: Carpe Noctem, getting used to the ins and outs of being a newly turned vampire is most definitely not all “candy & glamour”. As with any dr

Whilst definitely better than the first book, Alyssa's actions are the main reason for my low rating.

Alyssa is incredibly selfish and stubborn, believing she is right and the 2000 year old vampires are always wrong. She doesn't listen, she doesn't care about her own safety until her life's flashing before her eyes. She involves others, namely her best friend Fallon from her former, human life despite knowing there would be serious consequences from being warned enough times to never reveal who s
I’m not sure why I’m continuing on with this series, except perhaps I’m just stubborn like that. I dislike the characters, their reactions make no sense to me and I find them completely unrelatable.
If I had to describe Alyssa, I would say she’s whiny, annoying, naïve, idiotic and spineless. She rushes into situations without care or thought, so maybe I should add dumb to the list. She also is a complete know it all without actually knowing anything. Case in point she thinks she knows better tha

I picked up the Kindle version of this book because I often write pretty heavy stories, and when I do make the time to read, I need something light and fun to lift my spirits. I wasn’t disappointed. I think Ms. Salidas aims for dark, sensuous and brooding, but the storyline is too playful for that (although it is quite sexy in places), and her main character is too naive and airy. That’s part of its appeal, however, and why it makes for a quick, easy read.

I’ll try to avoid any real spoilers, but

Alyssa has slowly learned to come to terms with the fact that she is now an immortal. Lysander has taught her that she can't reveal herself to others. That she mustn't let on to her friends and family that she still lives - to some extent, anyway. Yet part of her cannot deny that she yearns to co-exist within the human world.

As Lysander continues to instruct her on the do's and dont's of the vampiric world, she comes to accept the changes that have been wrought upon her and is determined to blen

Hunters & Prey (Immortalis 2) in this book Alyssa is more comfortable with being a vampire. I actually like that drama of this story. Everything was black and white but it wasn’t. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. This was the underlining truth of this novel.

Katie Salidas found her voice and the story seemed to flow better than in the last one. We the introduction of a character that only had a brief appearance in the first novel, it allows Alyssa to take stock of her life as a vampire. It
