The exciting sequel to Immortalis Carpe Noctem.

Rule number one: humans and vampires don't co-exist. One is the hunter and one is the prey. Simple, right? Not for newly-turned vampire Alyssa. A surprise confrontation with Santino Vitale, the Acta Sanctorum's most fearsome hunter, sends her fleeing back to the world she once knew, and Fallon, the human friend she's missed mo

Hunters & Prey is my 3rd book of Katie Salidas. And I must say she doesn't disappoint me. Her other two books were short paranormal erotic novellas and she hooked me from there. So when she contacted me and asked me if I'd be interested in reading "Hunters & Prey" I immediately agreed. Now as GCR followers, you guys should know I am NOT really into paranormal books. But I must admit with Katie Salidas along with another author has lured me into the genre. And to my surprise, I'm really e ...more

Katie Salidas writes another great adventure for Alyssa and her clan called Hunters Pray. I enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one. Again you get a mix of Urban Fantasy, romance and Dark Fantasy. I love how Kate can mix these genre’s together and write a good book that each one can enjoy.

Alyssa is still trying to settle in her new vampire life and she finds she is having awful dreams. One night while she is out feeding she runs into trouble and runs to her old hangout where her and
This book is a follow up to the Immortalis Carpe Noctem.

Alyssa, with the help of her ancient vampire mate, Lysander, has finally accepted that her mortal life is over. She's now living with him and his other "children", the Peregrinus clan. One evening while hunting, she thought she saw Santino Vitale, the most fearsome hunter of Acta Sanctorum (vampire hunters). She informed Lysander of this but he convinced her that Santino was dead or if he's not dead, it would take a lot of time and blood fo
Katie has done it again in the next chapter in the life of a young vampire named Alyssa!

When I began reading the new book by Katie, Hunters and Prey, I was a little bothered by the similarity between the way Alyssa chose her victims and how Nicholas Cage's character in Ghost Rider punished his victims. Nicholas punished 'bad' people by making them feel the pain of their victims. In Hunters and Prey, Alyssa chose her 'blood source' by taking blood from only those who had harmed others in some way
I’ve been anxiously awaiting the return of this series. I was extremely impressed with Mrs. Salidas’ first novel, Immortalis: Carpe Noctem, (an introduction to the vampires of Las Vegas) and her ability to make each character come alive. This book takes us even further into the lives of those now familiar characters, giving them new depth. Santino Vitale, a personal favorite of mine, returns and though he is still, an intimidating vampire hunter inspiring visions of serial-killer Michael Myers, ...more
Hunters & Prey picks up (we have to assume) shortly after Immortalis Carpe Noctem left off ~ Post-Kallisto & Acta Sanctorum-battle with Alyssa continuing to struggle between her need for blood and having to kill her victims to keep her existence a secret.

Alyssa, while being followed by someone her clan isn't even sure is alive, seeks shelter in a cafe where she runs into her best friend, Fallon. Fallon hasn't seen Alyssa in a while. Once she starts asking questions she shouldn't know the

Book 2 in the Immortalis series. Hunters and Prey takes place a while after the battle with Santino. The one that brought Lysander to the brink of death. Alyssa is still young and learning the ways of the vampire. She feeds only on those who deserve death; the dirt bags that prey on the innocent and had once tried to kill her, if not for Lysander she would be dead.

One night while Alyssa is out feeding she gets a feeling of being watched; still young in the art of a

How the mighty has fallen! I liked the twist to the story in this follow up in the Immortalis series. This kept me entertained all the way through the book. I think this should be a very interesting story for future books in this series and I'm interested to see what becomes of the Acta Sanctorum.

I didn't think I would, but I liked the fact that Alyssa feeds only on bad guys. I'm not usually fond of vampires killing their meals, but I found this worked for me. I found Alyssa's will to not harm
I’m not sure why I’m continuing on with this series, except perhaps I’m just stubborn like that. I dislike the characters, their reactions make no sense to me and I find them completely unrelatable.
If I had to describe Alyssa, I would say she’s whiny, annoying, naïve, idiotic and spineless. She rushes into situations without care or thought, so maybe I should add dumb to the list. She also is a complete know it all without actually knowing anything. Case in point she thinks she knows better tha

Another Gripping read by Katie Salidas... A friend of mine loaned me book 1 a while back and I have been hooked. My review on this is quite late as I knew nothing about reviews really when I did read this book. In this book Alyssa is being hunted by hunters and when she is isolated she does what she knows best. She hides in plain site. She goes to a familiar haunt of hers and runs right smack into her BFF Fallon. She was already having a hard time with the rue that she could never see Fallon aga ...more

This is the 2nd book in the series and I loved it even more than the first! Alyssa a newbie vampire goes against all of the rules by revealing herself to her best friend Fallon. Then the debate/argument follows on turning her friend , because the law Is clear! A human cannot know. No matter that her intentions were good, trouble happens in the form of Santino, one of the vampires most hated hunters. Add a nut job of a fanatical human and ravenous zombies and you have one hell of a plot! This boo ...more
Alyssa who as we know is now a vampire due to Lysander who turned her due to someone who was trying to hurt and rape her but she was too damaged to stay human ..Now they are back in the fact that Santino wants the clan's help but can the clan trust him and why does he need their help and who is Quentin in the last book it was said he heads up Santino and his vampires and has him by the leash sorta speak but why would Santino want to get the clan's help is it to get Quentin out of the way or is t ...more

I really enjoyed "Hunters and Prey" much better than the first book. This story picks up shortly after the ending of the first book. Alyssa is having daymares of the vampire hunter Santino. However, Lysander tells her it is just stress. She cannot shake the feeling he is still alive and she sees him after she goes looking for dinner.

Alyssa's fight with Santino leads her to run to her old hangout at the cafe where she stumbles on her best friend, Fallon. Fallon is incredible happy to see Alyssa b

For all those fans of Katie's first book Immortalis Carpe Noctem, you'll be glad to know that book #2 is available for those to read and book #3 is coming soon :). At the end of Book #1 we saw Alyssa fall in love with Vampire Lysander and then we read in anticipation as a war began between the Vampires and Alyssa nearly died and in order to be saved had to be turned into a Vampire. Now with a few months or so passed , Alyssa has put her new Vampire self to use by hunting those who prey on the in ...more

After the battle that almost left her lover Lysander dead, Alyssa has been having recurring nightmares about the evil vampire hunter, turned vampire; Santino. She knew he was alive and hunting them despite Lysander’s protest to the contrary.

Her fears become a reality when she is face to face with him wail out feeding. Running to the only place that has ever felt safe Alyssa goes back to her old mortal hang out, only to run into the best friend Fallon whom she left behind when she was turned.

I am going to review this as a series instead of three separate books. Sometimes a vampire book can seem the same after reading so many, and lately I have had the pleasure of reading some wonderful vampire stories that have put an original twist to them. As with this series I am happy to say this series has that something different that I am always looking for in a great book.

Alyssa did not want to turn vampire, but, Lysander, a loner vamp turns Alyssa into a vampire in order to say her life, s
Hunters & Prey (Immortalis 2) in this book Alyssa is more comfortable with being a vampire. I actually like that drama of this story. Everything was black and white but it wasn’t. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. This was the underlining truth of this novel.

Katie Salidas found her voice and the story seemed to flow better than in the last one. We the introduction of a character that only had a brief appearance in the first novel, it allows Alyssa to take stock of her life as a vampire. It
You know from my review of Book 1 in this series that I love the vampire world that Ms. Salidas has created. So let me tell you right off that it only got better in book two. First, there is the little details, like using words like “daymares”. Second, for a second in a series, the author pulled off what I see as a writer, as a tough element to writing a series. She was able to catch up a new reader, giving them the information needed to understand Book 2 if they had not read Book 1, while makin ...more
I really enjoyed the first in this series. See review here. And I was looking forward to reading this second novel in the series as soon as I finished the first. And I am really glad to say I was not disappointed.

The series is well written and has a great cast of characters. I admit I love the vampire mythology and all the ways that it can be altered to create different worlds. I really think Katie has a great start to a new world for us all to enjoy and I am looking forward to more.

I picked up the Kindle version of this book because I often write pretty heavy stories, and when I do make the time to read, I need something light and fun to lift my spirits. I wasn’t disappointed. I think Ms. Salidas aims for dark, sensuous and brooding, but the storyline is too playful for that (although it is quite sexy in places), and her main character is too naive and airy. That’s part of its appeal, however, and why it makes for a quick, easy read.

I’ll try to avoid any real spoilers, but

After the fierce battle with Kallisto and the Acta Sanctorum, newborn vampire Alyssa is trying to adjust to her life with Lysander and the P clan. She is haunted by dreams of Santino, the Saints most feared vampire hunter and is certain he is again on the hunt. Her fears play into her ambivelence about her need to feed and kill to survive and her struggle of acceptance.
When confronted by Santino while feeding, Alyssa seeks refuge at Cafe Copioh, where she runs into her best friend, Fallon. It's

This book picks up a few months after the end of Immortalis Carpe Noctem. It was interesting to see how a few months of immortal life changes Alyssa. No longer concerned with just herself, she's very protective of her clan and Lysander. When Santino Vitale threatens her close to their home, she runs hoping to save her family from him.

Even when she breaks vampire cardinal sin #1 and "tells" her best human friend, Fallon, what she is, she stands her ground and tries to break the old prejudices her

The problem with sequels, they sometimes don't live up to the first books excitement or vice versa they are better than the first. What I found with this book is that, it is just as good if not better. It picks up where we left off in the first book. Alyssa, still adjusting to life as a vampire when Santino, the hunter chases her back to her old world. That is one thing she is still having trouble with letting go.

Again I could feel the confusion this character is experiencing through out this b

Hunters & Prey by Katie Salidas was a fantastic addition to this series. Alyssa is having repeated nightmares about their worst enemy, Santino, who belongs to the Acta Sanctorum. This group wishes to rid the world of vampires, deeming them monsters and killers. Lysander brushes her dreams off as stress related, that is until the enemy hits a little too close to home.

While Alyssa is hunting, Santino confronts her sending her running for safety. Fearing he would follow her, she doesn't want to

I wouldn’t say that Alyssa is feeling fine as a vampire in Hunters and Prey, but she is definitely feeling better than she was in Carpe Noctem.

The second book in the Immortalis series was, in my opinion, an improvement on Katie Salidas’s writing. The story catches the attention of the reader and picks our curiosity. That was my main problem with the first book in the series: I didn’t feel any connection with the cha

A great follow-up to the first in the series. Here's an excerpt of my review of this book from my blog post of June 28, 2011 (

"Hunters and Prey" is action packed with an incredible story line filled with vampires, zombies, survival and acceptance. It is also a story of love, sacrifice and strength. I mean, let's face it, it takes a lot of strength to trust that which you fear. Fierce battles ensue between the clan and the hunters after which Fallon is accepted by the
