Tsugawa Tatsuya just lost his parents in an accident... but he's trying not to let that keep him too down as he starts high school.
While trying to obey his father's final wish for him to become an upstanding man, he ends up helping a girl who was being bullied. Despite her exceedingly cold nature, he just can't leave her alone... which may not necessarily be to his benefit

Review for volume 1 - 2

Aion is a pretty standard "average boy meets mysterious fighting girl with magic powers" story. He is a thoroughly good person, she has a dark past. She moves into his house and they grow gradually closer to each other while fighting with monsters (or mermaids in this case).

A series can still improve a lot after only 2 volumes, but I dunno. A good author can make even the first chapter of his series intriguing enough for you to feel the need to continue reading. But there
That was... interesting. It was really slow in starting, but once things got going, it got pretty good.

I almost don't want to read volume 2 because Tokyopop only released the first two volumes...

Recommends it for: People who like Manga and action
AiON Volume 1 by Yuna Kagesaki is an amazing book, but this is a different kind of book, it’s Manga. The book is all about a girl, who’s name is Miyazaki Seine. She wants these mermaids to stop living so she can relax but also to get revenge on her father. She has a snake inside of her and it helps with the poison the mermaid gave to whoever the snake “ate”. There is also a kid, his name is Tsugawa Tatsuya, who wants to become a great man like his father wished him to become one day. He lost hi ...more

Not for those who are queasy with violence, but I assure you the gore is kept to a minimum.

An immortal witch girl fought against brain washing mermaid. The catch, she had to die first to satisfy the victim's urge to kill, if not the victim will be driven mad by the urge as long as the witch is alive. Plenty of violence but not so much gore.

The story itself was very touching though. Plenty of human drama without being too melodramatic and quite a few light hearted humor much like what you'd find

This is the first of an 11 volume series by Chibi vampire author Yuna Kagesaki. Sadly it's one of those series that failed to complete before Tokyopop shut down and so only three volumes were ever published in English, volume 3 of which is now annoyingly hard to track down, sigh.

It's a crying shame because the story behind this one is quite interesting. There's an epic battle going on between mermaids (although sadly none are actually seen in this volume) and an immortal sea witch called Seine (

Personally, I thought this was a nice little concept for a story. I mean, what can't go wrong with a story about an immortal that loves to be picked on and beaten on to death, in the most literal sense, to help those that are trying to kill her by getting rid of parasites? Well a lot of things, but I can't find some of them. I did find one obvious flaw with this, though: The translation. I'm assuming Viz Media decided to save some time and money by converting the original Tokyopop version into a ...more

This is a so-so introduction to what could be a promising story. The main character Tatsuya is interesting, mainly because of the loss of his parents and the promise he made to his father that he would become a great man. The supernatural stuff is moderately entertaining, but nothing particularly new or different is happening at this point. Nothing bad here, just nothing outstanding either. There was so little actual story in volume 1 I will probably try volume two before really passing judgemen ...more
Tatsuya Tsugawa just lost his parents in a terrible accident one week ago, he's now starting high school, gold digging relatives have imposed themselves onto him, and to top it all off he meets a strange girl who goes by the name of Miyazaki. She provokes bullies, nobody can deny or ignore the strange atmosphere around her, but is there something even more strange about her lurking beneath the surface?

This is my first manga that I ever read. I really loved how the author made the concept of witches and mermaids being enemies because I don't think I know any other books with that, which is so interesting!!!

Quick thoughts: A bit heavy on the cliches but still decent and has potential. 11/2014

Edit 1/19/16: Reread. An incredibly slow start considering how great the manga would become in the second half.

This manga is awesome!!! I love the horror and the funny parts. I couldn't stop reading! It is so violent and creepy with a touch of humor and a small drop of romance. I liked more than Chibi Vampire, although I have only seen the anime.

This introduction to AiON didn't grab me. It's got a monster of the week feeling, but I found the opening chapters kind of bland. The lead characters didn't hold my interest, either. Hoping volume 2 picks up the pace, because the premise is promising, and I loved Yuna Kagesaki's Chibi-Vampire.

A creepy fantasy by the creator of Chibi Vampire! I love her artwork, especially the cover. I hope there is another volume of this somewhere...
