Eine echte Empfehlung
Die Story ist einfach großartig (und unterscheidet sich massiv von derjenigen die in der Verfilmung geboten wurde). Bei Ausgrabungen in Israel wird die Beschreibung zu einer Videokamera gefunden - die wie man sehr schnell herausfindet noch nicht mal als Prototyp existiert. Ho dovuto aspettare un po’ per scrivere una recensione a questo libro, perché le sensazioni che mi ha lasciato sono state a dir poco discordanti. Ho dovuto leggere qualcos’altro, riordinare un po’ le idee, rifletterci un po’ su, per poter finalmente buttare giù una o due idee riguardo a questo libro.
L’idea principale che finalmente è venuta a galla dopo questa breve “pausa di riflessione”, è che, dopotutto, questo libro vale bene una lettura.

Questo è decisamente molto più un thriller in stile Dan Brown o Matilde Asensi che non un libro di fantascienza in senso stretto.
Si tocca solo marginalmente il tema del viaggio del tempo, mentre la gran parte del volume è dedicata ad una serie di fughe, inseguimenti e trappole, in una lotta tra "buoni" e "cattivi", tutti alla ricerca di un eccezionale reperto storico: un video, girato da un viaggiatore del tempo, che ritrae niente di meno che Gesù ( il titolo originale era infatti "Jesus Video")...more

Se durante degli scavi archeologici in Israele si trova uno scheletro che ha presso di sé il manuale di una videocamera, si può magari pensare a uno scherzo di cattivo gusto. Quanto ho letto la trama ero rimasto folgorato dall'idea di base del libro, la trovavo molto intrigante: nella necropoli di Bet Hamesh, non lontano da Gerusalemme, l'archeologo Stephen Foxx scopre lo scheletro di un uomo morto duemila anni prima... accompagnato dal manuale di utilizzo di una videocamera. Wat een heerlijk verhaal. Goede research die de lezer een mooie kijk geeft in het leven van 2000 jaar geleden. Natuurlijk zit er de grootvaderparadox in, maar de schrijver werkt er handig omheen. Read the German (original) version. The story/plot is not bad, but the pacing is a bit off. Its interesting in a 'what if' type of sense giving all the timetravel plot pieces.
My main problem was, that I could never really relate to the characters. If you consider, that the final message is something along the lines of (view spoiler) the love story part is probably one of the weakest.

Consigliatissimo. Eschbach è capace di creare scenari affascinanti. Il titolo originale di questo romanzo è Jesus Video: cosa succederebbe se si scoprisse l'esistenza di un video girato ai tempi di Gesù? Quali poteri si scatenerebbero per riuscire ad ottenerlo? Basta leggere il libro (più thriller che fantascienza) per scoprirlo...
Very solid, exciting entertainment. Heard this first a couple of years ago. It was still exciting the second time around. A good "What if" story that makes you think and guess. I also liked the multiple endings a lot.
Was wäre wenn ... Der Autor spinnt den Faden seiner Geschichte sehr konsequent. Spannend zu lesen - unterhaltsam - und wohltuend wenig frömmlerisch. Sehr lesbar.

Eschbach at his best!
Mir hat das Buch sehr gefallen. Es mag etwas sehr weit hergeholt sein, aber das ist nicht unbedingt ein Nachteil - Stil und Zusammenhang stimmen auf jeden Fall, ausserdem fand ich das Buch sehr unterhaltsam und gut durchdacht. Als Hörbuch habe ich es mir dann sogar zweimal angehört - und fand es immer noch nicht langweilig. Der zweiteilige Film, der zu dem Buch gedreht wurde, ist ein ganzes Stück anders und etwas actionlastiger als das Buch und gefiel mir nicht so gut.

A book that kept me engaged throughout, with interesting plot twists and lots of detail. The beginning of the book was somewhat standard, but gradually the pace quickens and you really want to kow what happens next. Not a single detail that is described goes by without an effect and the end is brilliant. A definite good read!
Great book! Looking forward to see the movie if it has as much suspense and action as the book. ;)
I like the story itself more than I like the book. Although it is written nicely, the author fails to tap into the extra level of depth of his characters.

A mystery set in Israel. When on a dig site, something is found that couldn't even exist. It could upset the whole notion of religion as it currently exists.

Amazing book, makes you really think about what if. Andreas Eschbach offers multiple endings, which is an extra bonus. I loved it.
