I really really liked this book! 4.5 stars... The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, was that I thought it was about 30- 40 pages too long, and the story could have been wrapped up earlier. With that being said, I still really enjoyed it!

Morganna is a girly girl who likes to dance, party and have a good time! She's also very smart and serious about her career in the DEA. No one knows she's in the DEA however, because she knew that Clint- the man she's been pining away for since she was a kid...more

I'm really struggling with this series (I also read the first book in the Elite Ops series and was somewhat ambivalent about it as well). I know many love Lora Leigh but I'm not sure she works for me. Perhaps I should give one of her other series a try before I close the book on this author for good.

First off, Auntee, thanks so much for letting me borrow these SEAL books of Leigh's. I'm enjoying them a bunch!

Before I started this book, Auntee gave me a little forewarning that if I didn't like this one, to keep going with the series because it got better. So I wasn't really sure whether I'd like this book or not.

Clint McIntyre is a hard man who's seen it all during his time as a Navy Seal. Managing to collect a lot of baggage over the years he's also closed off his heart, except when it comes to Morganna Chavez. Clint's always had a soft spot for his best friends little sister and despite his growing affection has done everything to protect the trouble maker. Morganna in turn has been in love with Clint since she was sixteen years old, tempting him with her young body whenever she had the chance, always hoping that somehow they might have a future together. As she grows into a beautiful woman Clint begins to distance himself, not wanting to expose her to his darker tendencies and afraid of her power over him. And as our story truly begins to unfold, he's been running away from Morganna for years. Terrified by what she makes him feel and tempted by her blossoming sexuality. The beginning of this book grabbed my attention right away. The sexual tension, lust and want is intense and well written.

Eventually Morganna resigns herself to the fact that Clint will never be a part of her life and takes a position in Law enforcement, concealing her job from both her brother and Clint. When Clint returns to town for some much needed R&R he is horrified and pretty turned on to see Morganna in his favourite underground BDSM club. She's now all grown up and Clint can't keep away from her any longer, becoming frantic with his blinding possessiveness. He soon discovers that Morganna is in fact working undercover and is the intended bait in an operation to uncover the dealers in a date rape drug ring. The pair butt heads as Clint tries to get her off the case and out of the clubs and the chemistry here is great. Clint is all alpha male and dominant while Morganna holds her own. Of course the two wind up working undercover together; Clint as the leather pants wearing dominant and Morganna as his not quite behaving submissive. I wasn't really into the whole Dom/Sub, BDSM angle but it was different and made for an interesting story line. However it never really takes off so if you're looking for whips, ball gags and bondage you'll be disappointed, as it's just a setting and not really an explored lifestyle.

The climax of this book is exciting and suspenseful; with a great hand to hand fight scene complete with knifes, guns and swinging vases. I did however have trouble with the overabundance of secondary characters that kept popping in and out and couldn't keep any of their names straight. There is some reference here to the previous novella but no back story is really given which was unfortunate. I also felt bogged down by the over the top plotline involving Columbian drug cartels and double crossing agents. It was just too much.

Lore Leigh writes the tortured hero like no other and there were several very touching scenes as Morganna tries to thaw Clint's frozen heart and he struggles to come to terms with his true feelings for Morganna. When Clint finally let's go and surrenders his heart ...Sigh. "Hold me," he growled against her neck. But she was holding him, her arms tight around his shoulders. And it wasn't enough. He needed more. Needed more of her to still the pain building in his soul.

I recommend this book even though it isn't the best in the series. Wild Card(book 4) would have to be my favourite but this is still entertaining and sexy as hell.

When I started this book, I approached it with a bit of trepidation. I'd read some reviews of it where people were turned off by the fact Clint, the hero, was lusting after Morganna, his best friend's sister, from the time she was jailbait. Thankfully, LL skimmed rapidly thru that and by the time they did eventually give into their heated feelings for each other she was in her mid twenties.

WTH, shouldn't he be happy to find out that the woman he "loved" was, or seemed to be, into the same kinky sex stuff he was? Hmm, "love"... I didn't buy his alleged "love" for Morganna for one moment, but that was understandable considering she was less than lovely too. One of Clint's buddies - I don't remember which one and I don't really care! - told him he was nuts for falling for her, and that was a true statement if I ever heard one. But I'm getting sidetracked here... I'll get back to Morganna later; let me go back to ranting about Clint... I'm not into BDSM, so I was kind of glad to see that Clint and Morganna didn't engage heavily into that. That said, I have to remark that his behavior was completely out of character. Wasn't he supposed to be this uber Dom that was famous for his extreme sexual needs? If so, how come he ended up led by the balls (no pun intended) by Morganna? Sure, the "butt plug action" on their 1st encounter was in character - oh, and I would have decked any guy on the spot if he pulled a stunt like that on me! - but Clint didn't live up to all his "Dom celebrity" later. If that was all an act to get him inside the BDSM world in order to catch the bad guys, it was never clear.

Morganna wasn't much better than Clint, IMHO. Was she supposed to be feisty? Well, it didn't work for me. Her outbursts and comebacks to Clint only made me see her as a whiny brat. I know she was only playing a part in those BDSM clubs but, seriously, I got this picture of a brainless bimbo in my mind and nothing could shake it. Her only saving grace was the fact that she didn't have any TSTL moment - besides the fact that she'd pined for less-than-worthy Clint for 10 years! - and didn't put herself in danger voluntarily. Quite frankly, I kind of expected her to disobey Clint's orders and rush into the arms of the nearest bad guy. She didn't, so she wasn't completely lost to me.

As for the plot and the storyline, it was just a mess. Secondary characters appeared out of nowhere and past events where mentioned without enough background to help me better understand what was going on. I've read some reviews where readers complained about being lost in the story, wondering if they should have previously read the novella Reno's Chance that started the series. Well, I've read that short story and I can safely say that it didn't help me one bit. I was as lost as anyone else who hasn't. At first, I tried rereading the scenes to get some sense on who was who and what was happening, but it was not worthy and I gave up on that pretty soon. No wonder I was scratching my head in puzzlement when the mole in the DEA team was revealed near the end of the story: by then, I had completely forgotten who that guy was!

I've read Wild Card and really liked it, which made me backtrack and start reading the Tempting SEALs series. I've read Reno's Chance and Dangerous Games now, and disliked both. Should I give up on this series?

Se pensate di leggere un romanzo dove l'eroe è in mimetica 24/7, si spertica in imprese al limite della resistenza umana e salva il mondo allora cambiate aria. Clint dice di essere un SEAL ma da SEAL non fa niente. Certo, si atteggia a militare tutto d'un pezzo ma in realtà è solo un fissato. Praticamente quello che dovrebbe essere disciplina militare si trasforma in mania di controllo e - ovviamente - in pratiche dom/sub.
Clint non è male come eroe maschile, in fin dei conti ha un approfondimento discreto e il suo comportamento è giustificato da un passato che non viene solo accennato, ma manca sempre qualcosa. Manca il background militare che, secondo me, avrebbe arricchito soprattutto la trama. Ci sono troppe lacune nell'indagine, troppe scene 'facili' in cui i due protagonisti sparano e spariscono senza che la polizia muova un dito. E' inverosimile che un militare, SEAL o non SEAL, possa agire senza rispondere in nessun modo del suo tempo (ok, sei in licenza, ma non decidi TU, da solo, di entrare in un'indagine...o no?!) o che possa coinvolgere altri militari senza risponderne in nessun modo. Questa autonomia all'acqua di rose rende la trama di fondo decisamente poco appassionante, poco realistica e inutili ai fini della storia. Alla Leigh serviva un pretesto per far agire Clint in un certo modo e dargli, così, il lasciapassare per essere accettato ad occhi chiusi.
Perdonato questo aspetto, non c'è molto altro da dire. Il romanzo è un romantic suspance erotico, quindi i due personaggi passano i 5/6 del libro a saltarsi addosso in vari modi e in stadi diversi: il tira e molla ormonale arriva praticamente al limite. Clint poveraccio va fuori di testa (mancanza di sangue al cervello, con le sue continue erezioni) e ad un certo punto si dice 'perché sprecare energie a cercare di resistere? Meglio consumarle facendo fichifichi!'.
E quindi Clint, il finto SEAL, decide che Morganna non è più la sorellina del suo migliore amico (SEAL, once again) e che è cresciuta abbastanza per farsela.
Non bisogna commettere l'errore di confondere l'atteggiamento da dom di Clint non arroganza o manipolazione. Morganna non è una debole, proprio per niente. Da anni ha deciso che Clint è il suo uomo e niente la smuove da questa decisione. Siccome conosce il suo punto debole (il sesso, of course) ci martella sopra finché il poveraccio cede. Morganna è un personaggio che gode del controllo che ha su Clint, si rende perfettamente conto dei rischi ma non ha nessuna intenzione di cedere, perché alla fine il suo è amore.
Certo, i sentimenti sono un contorno insapore, perché se ne parla poco e sempre in relazione a delle scene di sesso molto esplicite, però la nascita della relazione (o meglio dire la resa di Clint) ha un filo logico che la rende accettabile.
Tutto sommato è un erotico con un pizzico d'azione che si lascia leggere ed apprezzare per quello che è. Purtroppo, però, si fregia di avere contenuti che non ha. Spero che nei successivi i protagonisti vivano seriamente la realtà militare, perché altrimenti la Leigh poteva benissimo usare il termine più generico e meno invadente di 'forze speciali'.(less)

This book was so bad that I would probably never read another Lora Leigh book again except I have read other books by her that were very enjoyable. The plot in Dangerous Games was not only weak but oh so boring. Lora did not take any time to investigate Navy Seals because she started the book out stating that Clint had joined the Army when he was in the Navy. Let's see, she also had Navy Seals based in Atlanta and killing people with total disregard for the law. The plot in Dangerous Games was not only weak but oh so boring. Lora did not take any time to investigate Navy Seals because she started the book out stating that Clint had joined the Army when he was in the Navy. Let's see, she also had Navy Seals based in Atlanta and killing people with total disregard for the law. Navy Seals are not spies/spooks with a license to kill their enemies while on American soil when they are not even on a mission with no questions asked. She often referred to the Admiral as a General and that was annoying.

The book was supposed to be based in Atlanta but she often referred to the "sultry SC heat" while they were in Atlanta...umm that's a few hours drive from one to the other. They also frequented a club in South Carolina..thats a long way to go to get to a club.

There were so many typing errors, missing words, and missing letters but those errors were nothing compared to her final fight scene. In the final battle scene she starts calling the bad guy by the wrong name. It was so confusing and I had to read it a few times to realize that in the middle of a fight scene she changed the name of the bad guy. WTH? That's unacceptable. How did any editor miss that? I have so many more complaints. There was a mole in the story that wasn't revealed until later. When you find out who the mole is, the character was so insignificant I barely recognized the name..definently not worth the build up.

Lora's Breed series so far are much better put together without all the problems this book had. Though the love scenes were meant to be hot, they were a let down too. There was all this talk of our Navy Seal being a member of the BDSM club where the membership is 40K a year and he has a private sex room that costs even more. How can he afford that on government pay. He has all this inner dialog of all the bad things he's gonna do to Morganna, but guess what? Boring! Cause it never happens. And who the hell has a butt plug packed in their emergency night bag? Really? Unbelievable.(less)

Ladies. (And men.) All I can really say without ruining the GREATNESS that is this book is that you absolutely MUST have a towel handy. I am not even kidding you.

This was my first read by Lora Leigh but if her other works are anything like this she has now got herself a new, dedicated reader. I'm going to backstep just a minute before I talk about this book though. I love Linda Howard's romance novels. Even though most of the stories are cheesy and predictable, every once in awhile she NAILS a...more Ladies. (And men.) I have several of her books but my two favorite, go-to Linda Howard books are Cry No More and All The Queen's Men. Both of these books have the ideal man for me- strong, in charge, brooding, violent streak, fabulous in bed, and ultimately- uncontrollably and undeniably in love with the lead chick. ATQM is my ultimate fav because hey- it has a black ops agent named John Medina. Yum. So I apparently like military. Unfortunately, Matt is mostly none of these things (there is one he is though...you take your guess ;) ) so I have to live vicariously through books.

Which brings me back to this one. The lead male? Navy SEAL. Hot. Muscular (even though that's not a huge turn on for me, for reading purposes I'm all about this guy), dominant, sexual, volatile, etc. YUM. This also is part of a series and I have to pick up the first one, but this?? Was fabulous. I can't even tell you how great this book is. The story line was good and the bonus is that I had NO CLUE what was going on. I'm still kind of in the dark because there's another story after this one.

The sex in this book is absolutely incredible. It is described so well that the things you play out in your head are better than any porno could ever be. The characters are all so well developed that you like them, even their faults are appealing. I have never in my life read a romance novel that made me want to jump my husband immediately. Unfortunately, I'm reading while he's sleeping and waking him up makes him crabby. Plus I'm totally mingling with Aunt Flo this week and yeah. It's just not a good plan.

I very highly recommend this book if you like sex, or if you like romance novels. Or if you're currently not having sex and would like to- GREAT starter. I'm just saying.(less)

This was awful. It took me so long to slog through it because it was so mind-numbingly boring and made no sense it was hard to muster any interest in it. It seemed that Clint was made into this Dom type and BDSM was just thrown in because it was trendy. There is nothing BDSM-like in this book remotely realistic.

Also, I know very little about the military, but even I know that you don't join the ARMY to become a NAVY SEAL. WTF? Did the author do zero research? I mean just a simple google search c...more

Ok let me start off by saying I am a huge Lora Leigh fan... that being said, this book just really didn't do it for me. While I'm all for the hunky, alpha-man, Clint just wore on me. Erotic activities in sex clubs with good guys and bad guys. Ok but not recommended for buying.

I wasn’t emotionally drawn into the story. It was easy to put down. The ending was happy but didn’t elicit the emotions I like to feel at the end of the book. It was predictable. Nothing surprised or delighted me. The writing was ok. It didn’t have any of my major pet peeves.

Overall, I actually really liked this book. Morganna was tough, yet feminine and Clint was definitely Alpha, and tortured. What did bother me, was that I could not handle the fact that Clint kept rejecting her, for 8 freaking years. is he insane? I have been enjoying the SEALs series (loving the first book I read, Wild Card - the first of the Elite Ops series, and learning the order of the books that actually begin with Reno's Chance)... but was sadly disappointed with Morganna's character in one area in this book that just got on my last nerve. Having problems with this whole gut-wrenching conversation between Morgana and Clint (in chapter 15), where he 'clearly' is hurting and is not ready to admit to feelings nor the fact that he is clearly not going to hurt any future child he might have sired (if not for the vasectomy) - but with his crudeness to Morganna, I can't think he would pick that moment to believe it was the right time to have anal sex with a (mostly) virgin anus RIGHT AFTER telling her words to the effect that "he 'likes' her and wants her, but she shouldn't go looking for rainbows & butterflies...."). I would think that a sane female with as much spirit as Morganna displays, would give him a piece of her mind and show him the door - not the opening of her anus!

Then, if that weren't enough, enter chapter 16 and his penetration of said anus.... Clint asks Morganna, "Are you mine?".... Are you serious, dude? She's told you she wants you, needs you, and loves you - of which you are not able to reciprocate, and you are asking her to give all of herself to someone that cannot allow themselves to answer that same question? What a twit! But she's just as bad for allowing this most intimate of intimacies to have taken place with so many unresolved issues! At least she gets the last laugh by finally answering him with "Yes!...as much yours as you are mine!". Boy, Morganna, you sure told him!

Enough about that - I plan to read the next book in the series, For Maggie's Sake - if I can find it! Wish me luck!(less)

Anyway this is Clint McIntyre and Morganna Chavez's story. Clint is 100% dominant alpha male. He is a SEAL. He also has a dark, abused past which has colored his perception of the future and the relationship that he longs for with Morganna. It is very sad and very frustrating for the reader and for Morganna. You want to shake him and make him see that he isn't like his father and more loving than his parents. His mother is a sad example of motherhood. One of the things that I did like is the Clint is a Dominant. He enjoys the Dominant/submissive lifestyle. I sometimes think that Ms. Leigh doesn't really understand BDSM. She makes her woman think that being submissive is the worst thing that could happen to them. When that is true.

Morganna is looking for a way to make a difference in the world. She needs a purpose while she is waiting for Reno and Clint to come back from each mission. I don't think that the choice she make is the right one and by the end of the story she begins to realize it as well. Morganna is strong and intelligent but she is soft hearted and very caring. I don't think that people that go into law enforcement can be soft hearted. There has to be a hardness to those people in order to do their job. They care about people but they see so much evil. Anyway Morganna is a social person that makes friends with easy and she loves to dance. She is the perfect person for the assignment in this story but it shows her that she is ready for undercover work.

We get to meet other members of the teams, Kell, Ian, and Mace. I liked Mace. He is like so many other nerds. He is clever and intense. He is also paranoid. Ms. Leigh does write a good mystery and she is amazing at running and underlining plot that runs through the series. The beginning of which shows up very quickly in this story. I can't wait for read the other stories so I can see the villain get what he deserves at the end of the series. (less)

This is a really powerful book. Unfortunately, I was reading it on a family road trip where my attention kept getting diverted from it. A particularly emotional scene that took only 3 pages in the book, took me about 3 hours to read because I kept having to focus on other things. As a big fan of Lora Leigh, I liked this book a good deal though it wasn't my favorite. I was curious to read about Clint since he seems to irritate a lot of readers, even those who love Alphas. I really didn't think he was that bad as far as his controlling tendencies (keeping in mind this is fiction and not real life). In fact, he seemed to like it when Morganna didn't put up with his crap but gave it right back to him.

I liked the book a lot. I liked that Morganna was strong and didn´t just wait around to get her man. No, she was proactive from the get go.
And I liked Clint. The Navy SEAL Alpha man. And I like the BDSM theme.

A good friend of mine lent me the paperback version of this (my introduction to Lora Leigh) and insisted I read it soon. Wow. I'm glad I took her advice :-)

Clint McIntyre plays the SEAL Alpha hero to perfection. Really, what would you expect to see?

This book was pretty well-written, but the plot seemed a little trite. There were some sexy scenes in it, but they seemed to me to fall a little flat. The premise was somewhat predictable and there were no surprises. I can only give this book three stars. Two of the stars are for the author's ability to write. I had forgotten how intense Lora Leigh was as an author. She grabs you by the "'nads" and doesn't let go until you're worn out and sweaty. That's what this novel is. Though I have to confess I felt a little confused through most of the novel. There is a back story to do with a drug cartel that is critical to the conflict and I kept wondering "huh?" about it a lot.

This book doesn't seem to quite know what to make of itself-- it's not a straight-up erotic romance like many other Lora Leigh titles, it's still much hotter than a 'typical' romance, it's not quite a full-on romantic suspense, it's not really about BDSM, it's a bit too long...
