That Mama is a Grouch book explains why Mama is a grouch she is in need of some quite time, but she isn’t having one because her little girl decided to leave all her toys all over the entire house without picking them up after playing. This story is about listening, agreement and conversation between an adult and a child. It teaches and explains to children why it is necessary to clean up their room and pick up their toys and also listen to their parents. I like the illustrations as it helps the...more

As a grandmother of five little ones having new ways to teach the grandchildren about rules and good behavior when visiting is helpful. Sherry Ellis does this with rhyming words and colorful pictures in, "That Mama is a Grouch." The mother in this story gets mad at her child's antics and explains the importance of rules and in the end her daughter learns a bit of a lesson and understands better why her mother sometimes is a grouch. While this book is for children 3-7 my two grandchildren that ar...more

That Mama is a Grouch is a book that my family and I will treasure for ages. It's one of my boys' favorites! They are four years apart (3&7), and can each relate to the topics and messages in this story. The vibrant illustrations and colorful dialogue captures their attention and keeps them interested. It's a wholesome, fun read that speaks to both parents and children. Ellis weaves messages of understanding, compassion and patience into a tale that children can relate to. I highly suggest S...more

Absolutely Brilliant! My children love this book. The first time me and my daughter read it she went right upstairs to clean her room, and that never happens! Every Mother and child can relate to this book. It is both humorous and delightful and explains both aspects of the typical family household, the messy child and the grouchy mom. I highly recommend this book!

I like this book! If I had a dollar for every time I told my son to clean up his room and he said I was being a Grouch.
