Very accessible verse, sprung from headlines and everyday events. Joel Brouwer's perspective makes one think:

"He once believed his job was only to see,
to be a third eye for those of us hungry for more
than a meager pair can provide"

"The brittle unbearable rests in your palm.
Will you close your fist or won't you, and why?"

"I want to be content
with indecision, I wish to choose it."

I will be going back to these poems again, not to figure out what they mean--the thetic statement of each poem at least seems apparent--but to chew on and savor those meanings, because they are rich and original.

Basically, Brouwer took a lot of his inspiration from reading newspapers and other non-fiction sources. As a result, a reader gets poems about Laika the Space Dog, Yocktoseconds, a rampaging elephant, and more.
