Lucas… Playboy. Rebel. Rogue.

No one denies Lucas anything. Women fall at his feet and into his bed at the click of his fingers. His life is charmed, reckless and carefree—he is definitely a bad boy.

Grace Carter knows uncontrollable Lucas could ruin her career, and she won't tolerate his wayward behavior, despite their chemistry. But working with Lucas is thrilling, and aft...more

Liked it better than the first book.

Lucas is a great hero, who hides everything beneath a well developed mask of a shameless playboy. Like all the Wolfe children he has some serious scars from his childhood. After an argument with his brother Jacob, he decides to do something with his life, or try to anyway, so he finds a job with the company that used to be his fathers. There he meets Grace.

After some unfortunate experience when she was in high school, she decided not to let emotions overwhelm...more

Agh, I just lost the stuff I wrote about this. Basically: one of my favorite kinds of heroes, fun and outrageous, but not shallow -- so the romance works. Some fantastic lines between the hero/heroine -- and I also appreciated the resolution, which didn't pretend that everything was just magically perfect, but set up in such a way that the HEA was absolutely believable. Oh! and also that the heroine's arc also had a resolution that felt empowering, when she takes charge of her future instead of...more

With two under my belt in the Notorious Wolfes series, I can tell this is going to be a favorite. I love the family dynamics in this series, even though you don't even see most of the family members in all the books. That tells a lot right there. This family unit has critical fractures. The Wolfes are walking wounded. Every one of them. The good news is that they are on the path to healing.

In The Disgraced Playboy, Caitlin Crews gives us Lucas' story. She takes what appears to be a shallow woman...more

Overall rating -- 2.5 stars

Yes, I understand that the hero is overcompensating for being abandoned by his mother and never loved by his father, but he's a jerk. It would be one thing if he were completely different behind closed doors before he sleeps with the heroine, but he is conceited and pompous from the first page to nearly the last. I don't understand why any woman would fall for his "I'm Lucas Wolfe, the best looking man ever created" act.

At least the heroine was strong and independent,...more

Lucas Wolfe is a shameless playboy. He is a man the British tabloid love, his exploits are legendary and the entire world thinks that he lives off the patronage of older married lovers but in reality he is a master of disguise. He wields his own PR.
Ever since he was abandoned on his father's door as an infant, he was made to feel unworthy by his psychotic father, he started acting as a care-free charmer in front of his siblings and a devil to his father, inciting him to take out his temper on hi...more

Absolutely enjoyed the Lucas-Grace story, starts with Jacob meeting Lucas and tries to make him understand by all the things he does "you are turning into him" the way Lucas hides behind the facade of mackery and careless attitude but he was most affected by past demons,he never knew who his mother was but when he came to know he was so shocked and the things William Wolfe said made such a great impact on him which has made him belief he is the most ugly person and the guilt of not being there fo...more

The hero of this book is Lucas, the 2nd eldest of the Wolfe siblings, he has lived the majority of his adult life as a playboy 'it' guy and all round darling of the tabloids. After a run in with his eldest brother Jacob, Lucas decides to accept a job as a figurehead for a world famous department store that has past connections with his family, where he meets Grace, the heroine. Grace is busy planning the store's upcoming centenary and relaunch celebrations and doesn't have the time or desire to...more

Decent but I thought it lacked a bit of tension/conflict between the hero and the heroine. The heroine also seemed to have a massive over reaction to something that happened when she was a teenager. Although I suppose that having received no counselling it could have lingered on for years and she just got stuck in a rut. I also felt like I would have liked to know more about the hero's history. He was pretty melodramatic. Still he was an interesting, different sort of hero. I did like the way th...more

Great dialogue, but not much in terms of substance for this to be a satisfying read. Worth a read for the repartee between the hero and heroine but don't expect great romance or to be given enough substance to really care about either of the characters. I ramble about this book a great deal more in the discussion thread here.

This book had some really great banter between the hero and heroine, but absolutely nothing else going for it. It was not a very well written book. It lacked character development, scenery description, and substance. I could not get into the story or take an interest in the romance because those vital things were missing from the book.

So far my experience with Presents titles is not living up to my preconceived notions! Which is humbling to admit since I am forever railing against people who judge romance novels based on little more then hearsay and covers. Presents novels definitely have/had a certain...reputation, even amongst romance lovers! Granted I've only read three, but those three have managed to completely twist everything I thought I knew about the line.

This is the second title in the Notorious Wolfes series and I...more

And yet he could not seem to summon the necessary energy that would be required to go out on the town as he normally would, wearing his overused public face and prepared to cavort in front of the cameras as expected. It was as if the Lucas Wolfe he had worked so hard to present to the world for so long no longer fit him as it should, and he did not know what to do about it.
Both the hero and the heroine had their flaws, but they ultimately managed to overcome their hangups. I especially liked the...more

I read this in the middle of the night--which doesn't always make for a memorable experience, but the dialogue in this was unforgettable even in a sleep-deprived haze--plus, I swear, I marked half the book.

Grace is so cocky and self-assured and even when she gives in--she does it on her terms and with such strength of will that it doesn't appear that she's giving in so much as deigning to surrender.

Then there is Lucas--who would be played by James Franco if this were ever made into a movie and I...more

Caitlin Crews seems to be a highly recommended Harlequin Presents writer so I was probably too optimistic when I read this one and was therefore somewhat disappointed.

It was just okay. Lots of angst which I normally enjoy but there was too much repetition with the heroine Grace's internal dialogue. It felt like page-filler rather than a way to increase the conflict/tension. Lucas was a little less repetitive and had a more interesting backstory than Grace but he had the misfortune to be an ass t...more

Second book of the Bad Blood series. This is my first book of Crews and boy, she did not disappoint at all. I loved her prose and her writing style. The dialogues between Grace (h) and Lucas (H) were really good. The put-downs Grace gave for Lucas were entertaining and so were the parts where they slowly reveal the masks and the past is put to rest. I liked Grace, especially how she reacted positively to the situation at the end. The character arc for the leads were good and believable. An enter...more

This was something of an experiment for me, to see if I liked it.
I really, really didn't.
I found there was far too much time spent describing a characters inner thoughts and detailing every tiny change of expression on their face and far too little time spent on developing the plot and dialogue. Not for me.

THE DISGRACED PLAYBOY is the name of this book in the U.S. it's the 2nd in the "notirious wolfes" series, and it's a pretty good entry. it shows the masks people hide behind, and the length they will go to, to protect themselves. another 6 in this series--hope they are as good

This had a great premise and great sounding characters but for some reason I couldn't connect with the characters. I didn't care about what happened to them, so it made it a real struggle to finish the story. Still haven't finished it, not sure if I'll bother.

Great story! Lucas reminds me of a Regency Rake -- I loved him!

This installation to the Wolfe family series was okay, I can't put my finger on a specific reason this novel didn't click for me but something was 'off' the entire time I was reading it. I wasn't a huge fan of the hero the entire time, but he did eventually rise in my esteem by the end of the novel. I did like that he stood up for the heroine at the end and realized he had a lot of self-work to do before he would make a suitable husband. The best line of the book? "I don't know who I am!...Don't...more

This is the second book the Bad Blood series and again it completely drew me in. I couldn't click the pages on my kindle fast enough. So much emotion conveyed in one book! Lucas Wolfe is another tortured hero, hiding behind the image of a shameless playboy as the title suggests. He finds the perfect match in Grace, when they are thrown together on a work project. I started off not liking Lucas that much, he seemed far too arrogant and sure of himself, but as the book progresses you can't help fa...more

Lucas was really fun. Light and inconsistent. And she was a bit heavy.

At the beginning I didn't like her so much. Her dislike of him was a bit forced. If she would have tried to be normal with him, the story would have flown better.

But I revaluated her in the end. And him, well, I really like him!

Onto the next one!

Lucas Wolfe is a well known play boy who regularly features in the tabloids. He agrees to act as the figurehead of an advertising campaign by a well known conservative department store. Grace is the head of PR there and can't stand Lucas' recklessness. However there is instantaneous attraction between the couple and he pursues this although she is reluctant. He discovers pictures of her advertising sexy underwear when she was 17 and points out that she was always so uptight. Grace is embarrassed...more

I really liked the story, and that there seemed to be so much that Grace and Lucas had in common although it did not seem that way when they first met. I also liked the ending, it was HEA but it was not too tidy - it fit them and the state their relationship was at at that point in time.

my only quibble, and this is a personal one, was that a lot of the story was told as an internal monologue of sorts in each of their heads so there were long stretches of paragraphs and paragraphs. I...more

Pero dice...more

The second entry in The Notorious Wolfes series is the story of sexy playboy Lucas Wolfe and the very staid, rigid Grace Carter. From the previous book readers know what Lucas's problem is but he carries his annoyance to a whole new level and the verbal battling that he carries on with a similarly annoying Grace does not for a romantic lovestory make. THE DISGRACED PLAYBOY does however act as a kind of filler for readers on another Wolfe family member and keep us moving towards more stories in t...more

Caitlin Crews discovered her first romance novel at the age of twelve, in a bargain bin at the local five and dime. It involved swashbuckling pirates, grand adventures, a heroine with rustling skirts and a mind of her own, and a seriously mouthwatering and masterful hero. The book (the title of which remains lost in the mists of time) made a serious impression. Caitlin was immediately smitten with...more
