The story follows an astronaut and his canine companion as they drive an old pickup through Rocket Town, passing all manner of space craft like a taxi rocket, a police rocket, a school bus rocket, and even a rocket that looks like a shark.

Each colorful spread is bursting with an eye-dazzling array of rockets from big to small, fast to slow, practical to extremely silly. Ou...more

The pictures are pretty, but the age range who is most apt to enjoy it (preschoolers) are the ones who need a standard and identifiable font used throughout the most in order to help them with letter recognition.
My son enjoys looking at it, but gets frustrated when the words are hidden like scrollwork. I don't personally mind it, but I'm accustomed to looking for words in all sorts of unexpected places.
There were also a lot of comparison opportunities which Mr. Logan skipped over, and I don't r...more

This board book is fabulous. The illustrations are stunning and you can find so much on each page, yet they are not distracting and too "busy". All of my kiddos, ranging from almost two to five, really like it . I think all of them would say their favorite part is the countdown to BLASTOFF! This book is geared towards the younger set with the high quality boardbook pages and large print, but has enough to keep the preK set happy.

I have to always have in some books as reading is so important to me. And the Grandbabes both love stories. My Grandson will love the cardboard book 'Rocket Town'. It is perfect with rockets, trucks and trains while they are traveling in an old pickup. Bright colors that help the countdown to blastoff. This was done by Bob Logan who worked on Madagascar, Open Season and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs too!

A man and his dog drive to Rocket Town, enjoy exploring the town, and then set off on their very own space adventure. What I really like is that the illustrations feature the dog as the main character, journeying through this city of rockets, and it's the dog that made my daughter love this book and want to read it again and again. It's a very creative book, both in regards to the text and the visuals.

This book had an inscription from Bob Logan, and I hope that kid really enjoyed it before he donated it to the LAPL.

I... yeah. My mom got this book because she thought I might branch out to truck rockets.

I will not.

Rockets? Eh, maybe someday...

This book is very nicely done. I like that It’s a board book, so it’s very sturdy. The artwork its wonderful, kind of a retro feel. I love how the last rocket is the old truck. This is a great book for boys!

My son loved it- and the illustrations are fantastic. My husband loved them as much as my little guy did. Simple story, and the drawings are amazing and will capture you. Great for small kids (and their daddies!)

Bob lives in Thousand Oaks, CA with his wife, son, and pug. Bob likes to draw his pictures on a computer and is not one to turn down key lime pie, pleasant conversation or a chance to play the Wii.
