This book is driving me insane, but I am determined to finish it. I was actually enjoying it despite the ridiculousness of the storyline up to page 67 when I was tipped over the cliff of unbelievability into the cesspool of WTF. I am currently on page 119 and am vacillating between tearing the pages out of the ARC, throwing the book on the floor, or just putting it aside. Since I can't review the book until I have finished it and feel compelled to warn people off, I am going to finish it. To app...more
Being certain that there is something fishy about a secret project being done at her gene therapy company, lab assistant Kira Locke, steals some samples to find out just what. But her escape doesn't go quite as planned and her world gets a whole heck of a lot weirder when she is rescued from certain death by a wolf, who is also a sexy man, Jaxon Law, and is introduced to the the wold of the paranormal since her new knowledge makes her a 'guest' of the former soldiers, now shifters, who comprise...more

PNR lovers that don’t mind convoluted tropes
There are few things I find sillier than books that haphazardly mix popular romance tropes. The thought process goes something like this: “if readers like heroes that are shifters, Navy SEALs, have psychic powers, belong to a brotherhood of men fighting evil and have fated mates, wouldn’t they love a hero who is/has ALL of the above?” **eye roll** I know it’s fantasy but to take a story seriously, I need to see some internal logic.

I loved this book! Yes another shifter book, but I don't care. Jaxon is a shifter with special abilities. I really like the way that they shifters were described in this book. I like that their unique abilities that aren't usually associated with shifter, vamps sure but not shifters. I mean shooting fire out of your hands? Bending time? Loved that all the guys were hot but more in a rough sexy way. Kira was so funny. I liked the way that she spoke her mind and she was compassionate to the other...more

Hmmm... Not sure about this book, I liked the characters and story idea and i will read the next instalment/s because of the characters mainly.
There were bits and parts of the story that were too unrealistic for me, I like them to be a bit more realistic to allow me to really like the book and believe it.
I don't know if there was too much information or too little or how it was delivered for me to enjoy the story. It seemed choppy and lacked flow. I don't like how new team members or characters...more

Our Review [by LITERAL ADDICTION’s Pack Alpha - Michelle L Olson]:
Being the intelligent, curious woman that she is, Kira finds herself questioning what is really going on at the research facility she works for. Getting a rush of bravery, she decides to take matters into her own hands and find out just what kind of secrets her bosses are keeping.

First, I must say that to me this author and story line has a lot of potential. I will be reading the rest of this series, but I am hoping that the both gain more depth as it goes on.
This book seemed to move a little too fast in some ways. I felt rushed reading it, and then would hit a spot with details that showed how much more it could have been all the way through.

3-3.5 stars. I enjoyed the overall story, but there were things that happened in this book that I felt just happened way too easily & too fast. However, I did like it enough to continue with the series and I enjoyed the secondary characters as well. I'm really hoping it does get better in the future books.

I found the story slow to get into at first, which was disappointing as I really wanted to like it from the beginning. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of action and enough hotness to wet your appetite (hot, tattooed Navy SEALS shifters) but I've read quite a few books in this genre so maybe I'm becoming hard to please, I don't know. However I AM glad I stayed with it as the story picked up, for me, halfway through. Without spoiling it, the story centres on a group of Navy SEALS with Psy powe...more

I give the author kudos for creating fairly complex backstory before beginning the new novel. However, there's a bit too much going on, some of which doesn't make as much sense as I'd like in my world crafting.
There's a man dealing with an old betrayal and injury.
There's a woman who is dealing with a new reality that there are shapeshifts and other supernatural beings - and coping oddly well.
There's a biological imperative for two people to "bond" and be a "mate pair". Yet only one of the two o...more

Jaxon Law has a retro cog gift. He is part of the elite Alpha Pack team. He has a strange feeling about the mission he is on and it is not a good one. He has spent his life defending those who could not defend themselves. His instincts are right—his team has been set up and half of them end up dead.
Six months later, he meets Kira Locke. She has been a thief and does not know who to trust anymore. Someone is targeting humans with paranormal abilities, and Kira is determined to find out who and f...more

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The base story line of shifters either being recruited by the military or military men being turned into shifters is not new. But Tyler adds her own twists with a cast of extras that really made this book sweet. I know sweet doesn't sound like its a passionate romantic story. But its the best way I can describe it. Kira falls head first into this world and seems to roll with the otherworldly changes like a true champ. Jax has a lot of regret...more

Great start to a new series, and a new author for me. I am eager for book 2 of the Alpha Pack series.
Jax & Kira have great chemistry, their bond is tight and fast, tho sometimes a bit annoying. Kira had a holier than thou attitude quite a bit which grew tedious but Jax makes up for it overall. Hell, Jax is a lethal mix of Navy SEAL, Psychic, Wolf, Timebender...what more can a gal ask for?? LOVE him!
My biggest grievance was Nick. His secrecy and (to not give away spoilers) with what he knows...more

Shifters, angels and the Fae characters make for fascinating reading as this author debuts her Alpha Pack series.

If you’re looking for a good shifter romance with some secret military special ops guys thrown into the mix grab this book. It is filled with an amazing cast of characters, a variety of different species of beings, and a spicy romance between a very alpha male and a clever lead female that has a healthy dose of iron will.

Hmmm where to start. This book was okay. It's got the general set up for a PNR series. Hot supernatural guys all living in some kind of compound and none of them looking for a forever type of woman. Mostly enjoying their hotness and women willing to take what little they were offering.

So I finished listening to this one and I have to say I cannot decide, was it a bad story or just told poorly. It is light on details, which in an erotic romance can be forgiven if the sex and chemistry is off the charts, which in this book is decidedly not the case.

Well I picked this up at Borders because it had werewolves and I love werewolves! However I was a little disappointed in the writing. This really was quite similar to Lora Leigh's Breeds (which I love) but that really wasn't the whole problem. It seemed liked the author threw in everything but the kitchen sink in the paranormal world she set up. Several times I rolled my eyes at what was going on or being said because it was soooo over the top. There was great writing mixed in with it so I did g...more
Not a perfect read but very enjoyable and I definitely want to continue the series.
If you like series' that fall along the lines of BDB, Breed, and LOTU, but in this instance you have a pack of shifters who are a part of a secret military group, you might enjoy this! The characters are for the most part intriguing and likeable. It's an easy read, if not sometimes quite predictable, but my interest was definitely peaked to continue the series. There is great potential for this world to develop a...more

This is a good beginning for a new series and while I'm generally not a big fan of prologues, in this case I'm glad one was included. It really enabled the reader to get a good idea of how Jax and his team was betrayed and his lover involved before it jumps into the present.
There's lots of action from the very beginning when Jax rescues Kira. Those opening scenes are well done and gives the reader a taste of what to expect as the story continues BUT the relationship of Jax and Kira just started...more

To be perfectly honest I had mixed feelings about this book. I had trouble getting past the halfway point but after that I liked it alright. The first half of the book was very iffy for me. I really didn't like the way Jax acted at all. He was being a total jerk and not treating his mate, Kira, very well at all (both before and after he started realizing she was his mate). I almost stopped the book in disgust when Jax decided to go get laid by some other woman because he couldn't deal with the f...more
