Probably should go with 3.5 can't go wrong with a book bragging about dogs! It's quite an informative little book for young people! Well worth checking out at your library!
Really liked the way they talk about how to do research, apart from the information on the dog heroes profiled in the book. Nice little pocket history.

i want to read more of these
The authors give a great deal of information on dogs and how they are heroes in a very short book. It also has a place in the back showing other books to read and other places to search for information on dogs.

I loved most of this book but I could not read the part about 9/11/2001 to my child. At six, he is not ready to hear about a dog dying while trying to help humans.
dogs carry medicine in a pouch around their neck to sick people in the arctic.
My 6 year said "I want to give it 5 stars." with out me asking.
