Love Immortal packs a wallop---filled with so much steam and sex that the pages threaten to ignite with reading. It must have been quite harrowing to be a gay male in the 1800s, especially since social pressure to marry was so strong. Add to that complication, the fact that Sebastian's lover is immortal and jaded by centuries of one night stands, and I'm pretty sure you will understand the dilemma he faces in Love Immortal. Ms. Addams combines vampires and smoking hot manlove in this historical romance, sure to keep the reader turning pages far into the night.

The characters in this book were well written and I was able to sympathize with their emotions and actions. At first I was ready to give a verbal smack down to Laurent for his cavalier attitude toward love, but soon changed my mind as the plot progressed and more of his reasoning was revealed. Sebastian, the submissive character, was endearing and made me want to bundle him up in a warm blanket and give him lots of comfort food. The ability to bring out the anger and protectiveness in me seems to be Ms. Addams specialty, and I appreciated her effort as it enhanced the realism of the story.

Love Immortal is definitely not your mama's romance book; it's better. Contrary to most historical romances I have read, this book left no doubt as to what was going on in the bed. The love scenes were extremely detailed, and frankly, hotter than Georgia in August. There were tender scenes as well, with heart-warming dialogue. Both hot and sweet were perfectly balanced and served to demonstrate the bond between these two men. I laughed out loud at the 19th century version of the pickup line: "Mayhap I could offer you refreshment away from our current surroundings?"

I enjoyed the pace of this storyline as it covers many years, but manages to go in almost slow motion in exactly the right places. The plot was a striking comparison of the difference between the destinies of two men who made two very different choices. I've always toyed with the concept of “doing it all over again” and the author did a very good job of pointing out that a single choice can change the future in both good and grievously bad ways.

The forced seduction, and violence tags were both added due to the terrible acts the villain commits. Please note this story contains graphic BDSM scenes and rough sex. The story ended rather abruptly, but adequately summed up the drama climaxing right before The End. There were a few grammatical and spelling errors, but they did not detract too much from the flow of the book.

If you are searching for an authentic-feeling historical novel, filled with angst, lost love, and second chances then you will enjoy reading this book. The first in the Mysterious Moonlight series, I look forward to reading more of Ms. Addams works. I'll end this review with my favorite quote from Love Immortal: “It has been too long since I last saw you. I've thought of little but seeing you again."

In Sebastian's circle there are few if any gay men that he can dally with so you can imagine his good fortune upon finding out that Laurent's proclivities are the same as his. What starts out as a night of unbridled passion turns into a silent arrangement of sexual needs and wants. All seems ideal until Graham surfaces and kidnaps Sebastian in the hopes of hurting Laurent for the injustices he feels he has thrust upon him. Graham leaves Laurent with few options in regards to saving Sebastian. The scenes were Laurent and Sebastian meet kind of gave me the feeling like I was being a voyeur into someones private moments that's how strong and intense their attraction seemed. I never felt like I was reading about a gay couple, I felt like I was reading a story about two people who's souls cried out to each other. This gave me no right or wrong way to be with them, Laurent and Sebastian were just meant to be. I was rooting for them through the whole story and dared to hope that for once Laurent could stay happy for all his eternity. BUT in order for you to know whether or not that happens you would have to read this book which I HIGHLY recommend. On a scale from 1-10 I this this book a GIGANTIC 10. This is a paranormal love that just begs to be read. I feel everyone 18+ needs to read this book for themselves and get blown away by Laurent and Sebastian's tale.

I just finished ** Love Immortal** by Brita Addams.. BRAVO my Friend.. That was BRILLIANT!!!! I wasn't sure I would like it... I TOTALLY LOVED IT.... :O) That was Fantastic.... OMG Brita... Congrats!!!!

Love Immortal is a historical gay vampire romance. The story takes place in the 19th century and although I'm not a particularly good judge of that (being Dutch and not a native English speaker) the dialogue has an authentic, ancient feel to it. The scene where our heroes, Laurent and Sebastian, meet takes place at one of those social, high-society get-togethers typical of that period in history. The story takes place in the 19th century and although I'm not a particularly good judge of that (being Dutch and not a native English speaker) the dialogue has an authentic, ancient feel to it. The scene where our heroes, Laurent and Sebastian, meet takes place at one of those social, high-society get-togethers typical of that period in history. But other than this occasional setting and the use of some archaic phrases, the story could've taken place in any other period of history. So, if you're not really a historical romance fan this shouldn't be an obstacle with this book.

You do have to like paranormal romances though, because the vampire aspect plays a bigger role. Laurent is a vampire for two decades when he meets Sebastian, a human. Their attraction is immediate and palpable and they leave together for a hot night of sex, which was supposed to stay just that - one night - to avoid Laurent's secret to get exposed. But the passion continues. And so do their meetings. The vampire aspect is not being romanticized in this story, being a vampire is not desirable at all in Laurent's eyes. And he'll do anything to prevent that others will have to face the same destiny, even when they beg him to turn them. He has lost a lover recently due to his unwillingness to turn him. His reluctance has everything to do with a previous mistake with an old lover, Graham, who turned rogue and is out to get his idea of revenge.

Graham adds some suspense to the story but also a lot of cruelty and violence. And his actions bring a difficult decision upon Laurent, regarding Sebastian. All the action in this book was quite fascinating and thrilling but rather grim. It’s definitely not a cutesy and sweet love story. Which is not only Graham’s fault, although he does have a big influence on Laurent’s view on life and love. Laurent has a dark streak in himself as well, which is especially noticeable in his sexual preferences. He does get off on inflicting pain on his lovers. And although the sex scenes between him and Sebastian were really steamy, they also made me flinch on occasion. And I honestly wasn’t completely sure of Sebastian’s feelings about it all, including the painful BDSM scenes. This probably had something to do with the ‘vampire spell’ he was under once Laurent had bitten him:

Laurent licked him and murmured deep in his throat. "You will have no recollection of this, Sebastian, but you will feel compelled to be in my presence." Sebastian's body trembled, cold fear gripped him. He tugged against Laurent's strong hold. It was futile.

I wasn’t sure which of Sebastian’s feelings and behavior were genuine and which were caused by the bite. Only when the events take a turn, changing his faith, I started to believe his emotions were his own.

When I finished this book I felt as if I had read a lot between the lines instead of getting it all spelled out in details. There were a few jumps in time and sometimes information wasn’t provided where I’d expected some. This does have a certain appeal, because it gives room to the reader’s own imagination. On the other hand, it kept me wondering about the heroes’ relationship and the depth of their feelings for each other. I wondered if it hadn’t been merely the circumstances that made them a couple, rather than their emotional bond. Therefore, for me, the action arc is more memorable than the characters themselves.
Be that as it may, Love Immortal is an exciting, entertaining and hot read, which is well-written and satisfying enough to make me curious for the next book in this series!
