This second novel in an 8-novel series picks up the adventures of a family wherein two sisters now find themselves transported back in time to the mid-days of the Civil War. However, this younger sister is way different from her older sibling, Sophie, the heroine of book one. While this is a stand-alone novel and one can certainly pick up the story with the clues and brief story snippets given in this book, it is far more fulfilling to read the first book and then this one. Yet Emma is flighty,...more
This one is a sequel and should be read in order because the story picks right up where The Bride Price left off. The plot formula is much of the same which I enjoyed. It tied off a few dangling threads from the first one, but also introduced a few new ones and there is still a feel of not quite understanding what the villains are up to.
The story shifts from Sophie and Jamie in the lead roles though they still get a huge amount of page time. This story focuses on Sophie's younger sister, Emma We...more

Before I say anything else, I should let you know that I am a Civil War history buff. So much so that I ended up with minors in both History and African-American studies in college.
So, when I saw the first book of this series "The Bride Price" was free on iBooks, I got it. After finishing that one I was hooked! For good or ill, both books so far don't really end, they just stop, so I must get the next one to continue the story :)
I'll be honest, one must suspend reality to make the premise of thi...more

This is a continuation of Civil War Brides collection. I liked this story a lot for the most part, but what I did not like was that the women are strong in the 20th century, but then become somewhat whimpy in the 19th century. For instance, Emma is a strong and independent woman in 2011, but after she gets transported she is easily sidelined by headaches and twisted ankles. She easily falls under the spell of Clayton, but gives up all resemblance of herself becoming happy to follow order...more

I took advantage of number one being available for free and now I am HOOKED. As usual, Ms. Jackson has created characters that are loveable, realistic and flawed. The second book follows Emma into 1863 where she finds her family and finds love too. As with book one, they are in the midst of dangerous times, and more specifically, there are others from the future that have specific plans for the time traveling family.

This story of Emma going back in time just as her sister and brother-in-law did in the first book was good, but has the same issues I didn't like in book one. The part of the plot where their lives were in danger just seemed to be thrown in. It didn't make enough sense in the scheme of things and kind of confused the issues at hand. As far as the love story goes, it's a good book. However, I found it hard to believe the shallow, materialistic heroine could so easily fall in love and accept the s...more
What a great book, rich in history (Civil War), time travel, romance, and intrique!
A sequel to "The Bride Price" which is a fabulous first book. You needn't read it before "The Bride Found" although you will find that they do build on each other in such a way that the second book is like picking up some old friends whose stories you wish to continue.

Loved this book! Great, clean romance. Fun historical facts on the civil war and Preident Lincoln. Easy read. Very excited to continue this series!!! I would recommend for anyone! So glad I stumbled upon this author. She is great! I think the first book might have been a free book on Amazon, but now I'm hooked!

From the first page I loved the main character's wit and view of things. I loved the smooth way Tracey Jackson handles the time travel, it was nice and the fun situations that arise are priceless.
I love the cast of characters and have already bought book 3 to get back into the mix again.
One note, I struggled personally with the dilemma of knowing at the end of the civil war the sad end of President Lincoln, could I personally not tell the president. I talked it over with my husband, just for a...more

The second book in the series and I found the book boring at times. Slow paced the book did not grab my attention as the first. Although I do appreciate that Emma and Sophie managed to get together.
I liked Clayton and he learned quickly how to "handle" the strong willed woman from the future.

Tracey was born and raised in New Zealand, and that's where her love of horses was formed. Her grandfather taught her to ride at four years old, and she couldn't get enough.
Her love and passion for Abraham Lincoln and the entire Civil War era might have come from her American father, however, he lays no claim to influencing her. Tracey's mother used to tell her she was simply born in the wrong pla...more
