This book gave me some good information about how to go about lowering my high cholesterol. I started the niacin treatment, but unfortunately found that I suffer rashes from it and have since discontinued. I plan to use the other information to hopefully lower my cholesterol.
“My Liver Hates My Guts,” is the title of a country western tune and reflects my opinion of this book’s cholesterol-lowering program. A big part of Kowalski’s cure, in addition to diet, is mega dosing on niacin in amounts exceeding 100 times more than the minimum daily requirement for adults. To his credit, he issues caveats that go with this practice. I am not comfortable with it at all, however.
