When Imogen visits her Aunt Sara, she asks immediately to play pretend. Aunt Sara offers to pretend that Imogen is a monkey on the beach. Or perhaps a beautiful princess with a gown and a crown. Or a witch’s cat with magic wands. Or a pirate’s parrot searching for buried treasure. Or a dragon-taming knight. Or an astronaut. But Imogen wants to be only one things today, herself! So she and her Auntie Sara head to the park, play on the swings, eat ice cream, and then curl up on the couch together...more

This book shows how grown-ups always tell kids what to do, but they need to let children have their own imagination and let them decide what they do every once in a while.

This book would be good for first graders with its easy-to-read text and its cute illustrations. I would use this book when discussing imagination and being creative with students.

Very cute book about an auntie and little girl. I like that the book is all about the different things we can imagine to be and the use of very specific descriptions. I also like the way that they could have fun just doing simple thing like ready and having ice cream. Very colorful illustrations.

Imogen's Auntie Sara wants to play and pretend to be pirates, princesses, astronauts and more but Imogen wants to be herself and have fun in her own skin. Fun illustrations that help make this message of strong self-esteem and self-worth subtle enough for children to enjoy.

Cute story about Imogen playing with her Auntie Sara and pretending that she is doing different and creative things. Does she want to be a "dragon-taming knight" or a "witch's kitty cat"? Or simply herself? Possible readaloud option.

Nice book about an aunt playing with her niece. Very cute. I haven't seen many picture books about the relationship between aunts and their nieces and nephews so this was a nice one I'm looking forward to recommending :)
