This is by far the best Patrick McManus book out there. The title story has to be about the funniest thing I've ever read. Maybe it's the fact that I'm the daughter of an outdoorsman that makes me appreciate the the truth in these stories. Good for a laugh!

Mr. McManus is a great auther and I would like to read more of his books. I enjoy his logic. The book was fun, only a couple of stories were out loud funny to me. But the book was good entertainment for anyone who loves outdoor sportman type activities.
Another in the classic long line of great outdoor humor and short stories. I think you have to live in the Northwest to get everything he is laying down. I read it to my eight year old, and we laughed our heads off together. Great entertainment.
Never have I read stories written more for me. I get the biggest kick out of Pat and his friends. I promise you won't regret reading these. And buy the box set or you will be done way too soon.

This book is funny. It is about a guy that is a little slow. He has no idea whats going on most of the time. He is always outdoors. Sometimes i can be slow like him and im always outdoors.
I love Pat. His writing style is a mixture of exaggeration and understatement, and it's so flawless. A perfect outdoor humorist.
If you enjoy the out of doors, or not, you can relate to these stories.
Hilarious stories. Must read if you like to camp, fish, hunt, laugh, etc.
All of his book are hilarious. I love to read them for brain candy.
Funny. Good read, but I must say, Gentle Ben would never eat Goombaw.

I love his use of irony and foreshadowing. Even when you know it's coming, the "punchlines" are still hilarious.

Quick, light and funny...3.5 stars
I loved this book. I had read bits and pieces of McManus before but never a whole book. I very much enjoy McManus' off the wall view of camping and the great outdoors. I grew up in Wyoming and Colorado and can easily see each story unfolding. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates humor and the outdoors!
This has possibly his funniest story in it ever. His work is cumulative, like Gary Larson, so one joke too many may put you over the top. He's an outdoor writer so it helps, but it is not essential that you have some familiarity with hunting and or fishing. If both offend you...not my problem.
I love this book. It is positively hilarious. I enjoy all that I've read of McMannus's stuff, but this would be one of my favorites. If you need a laugh, pick up this one!

One of my favorite stories. I have heard so many times I can quote nearly the whole book. Daddy loves it when I come up behind him a cry " Bear, bears got me!".
I laughed so hard I couldn't finish reading the story. Very good for exercising your stomach. I love all of Patrick F. McManus' books.
One of my favorite of his. Very easy to read and very very funny! Love to just sit down and read these funny short books.

Goombaw is his grandmother, for anyone who's wondering. Another laugh-out-loud series of stories from McManus' childhood.
Not as funny as a fine and pleasant misery, but worth reading if you like McManus
Very well written :) I love Pat McManus stories! Nice light reads full of laughs.
The chapter, "Try Not to Annoy Me" is one of the funniest things I've ever read.
Thank you to the Snyder family for introducing us to these HILARIOUS stories!
Anything by McManus is funny beyond reason and highly recommened.
Casey read these stories aloud to me. I loved it. So funny.
