This book, well, sounds cheesy, but it's like a bible to me.
I wasn't even born when it was written, or when it was published, or when it was republished for that matter, but it is a delicate and mind-blowing blend of the spiritual and musical-genius of Michael that anyone of any age can appreciate. He was such a gentle person, and reading this, the delicate words seem to just lift off the page and calm me... Though it was written before all the problems, when all his money was in the fore-front

Wonderful book! I savored every moment, and wish it was much longer, more detailed, and at least as thick as some of the BIOgraphies about him. It's one of the few books I actually felt stress about reading and understanding each and every word that was written - partly because of how much I paid to get my hands on this rare gem, and partly because it's one of the very few first-hand resources on Michael Jackson. Almost everything else is tainted by the perspective of someone who is writing ABOU ...more

I enjoyed reading Michael's words about his life up until 1985, which is where the book ended. I didn't want it to end, I wanted to read more about his life after that, but unfortunately, he did not write another book. Moonwalk describes his early life and his feelings of insecurity on a personal level and told of his father's heavy-handed discipline. He talked about not being able to have friends his own age unless they were in show business because all the other people he met, treated him like ...more

Well despite the fact Michael Jackson is my idol I love this book! It's not fiction it's something real! Autobiography! So .. what else I can say?

I picked up this Michael Jackson autobiography from the library a few weeks after his untimely death. It's a light, breezy read, and I enjoyed the opportunity to get to know a little bit about the man in his own words.

It seems that Jackson actually did write Moonwalk, rather than following common celebrity practice and hiring a ghostwriter. The prose is conversational, and it makes the whole book feel wonderfully personal: more like a series of letters or journal entries than a book written for

When this book was published in 1988 I was only 11 years old. 20 years later I read this book, after the author has gone to heaven. I'm glad that this book exists. I'm glad that Michael eventually agreed for the book to be printed after a last minute hesitation about it.

I love the book. There're many photos of Michael himself and with the people he loved and adored. There's one picture of himself that he drew , which are precious for me, a big fan. On the hard cover, Michael's signature printed

I am a massive Michael Jackson fan, and I love hearing his story in his own words. His publishers rejected the first draft of the book because it was not scandalous enough, and so this was the first time he revealed the childhood beatings he experienced, which undoubtedly contributed to the person who he became (not the freak people say he is, but the wonderful, loving humanitarian (but of course, I'm biased!)) It also contains some interesting passages regarding how he strongly opposed the drug ...more

On my way to the library yesterday, I heard the sad news about Michael Jackson's passing. I borrowed this book and read it last night. He was an incredibly talented person who was forced into the public eye at a very young age. I think many people misunderstood him. This book was written by him when he was 29 years old. At one point in the book he said that he already felt like he was 80 because he had been working so hard for most of his life (beginning when he was only five). Every single day ...more

This is the one autobiography Michael Jackson actually wrote himself, and it gives a look into his musical process and a bit of insight into his internal world. I don't know what other to say, than he was an incredible genius. The way in which he describes how he creates music, what his songs mean to him is simply mind blowing. For example, in this passage:

"'Everybody' is more playful than 'Off the Wall' dance tunes, with Mike McKinney propelling it like a plane turning and bearing down. The bac

"I'm a person of the present, and I have to ask, How are things going now? What's happening now? What's going to happen in the future that could affect what has happened in the past?" ~ Michael Jackson, quote from Moon Walk, Michael Jackson's One & Only Autobiography, His Life, in His Words.

Michael's book was first published in 1988. We now know his future, but not clear how that future affected his then "now" or past. He said at one point in his bio that he felt like an old person, due to h

Moonwalk is an amazing and very descriptive story of Michael Jackson's life prior to and up until 1985. Throughout the book, Jackson talks about his struggles as a growing famous teenager. He acknowledges that fame isn't what it all seems to be. In fact, he would love to trade places with anyone at anytime. He exaggerates on the point that because of his fame, his life is not what he wanted it to be. Growing up with an abusive father, with no friends and absolutely no independence makes him love ...more
"Moonwalk" by Michael Jackson the king of pop, is a journey through Michael's early life. It is his only autobiography published in 1988. He wrote about his childhood and how he and his brothers started the Jackson 5 with the support of his parents. His life was a very simple life in a small house in Gary, Indiana, but his performances where so great for a little star that then became the king of pop who everyone knows! I got so addicted to the book as Michael took the readers to a world of his ...more

The pop singer Michael Jackson breaks the barrier of silence that has surrounded his private life. He recalls a childhood that was both harsh and joyful,
the transformation of the Jackson Five into worldwide stardom, his sometimes difficult relationships with his family, and the inspiration and drive behind
his music. He also talks about show-business friends such as Diana Ross, Paul McCartney, Fred Astaire and Marlon Brando, and about his decision to have
extensive plastic surgery. The book is ill

This book offers an insight into Michael jackson. Some people say that he is reluctant to go into intense detail about his as the a lot of people call "bizarre" behaviour, his private life and who michael jackson really is, but to be honest why should he go into intense detail about all this, Michael jackson deserved a private life no matter how famous he was, maybe the main reason why he only goes into so much detail about his life in this autobiography was because he wanted to keep a few thing ...more

I really enjoyed this book. It was nice to get a peek into the life of Michael Jackson that we normally don't know about. I just wish it would have been a more recent book so we can get what he was feeling now a days, before he died.

I love and have always loved Michael and his music. He will truely be the King Of Pop forever!!! While I wasn't even born when most of the events in this book take place it's nice to see what kind of childhood he had, even if it wasn't the best with all the performin

I enjoyed this book, which I purchased and first read years ago. It gives interesting insight into a man who was, in my opinion, undoubtedly a musical genius. Unfortunately, as with most geniuses, this trait can turn against a person.
It was certainly interesting to read about Michael's childhood and their treatment at the hands of their father, which I felt was rather restrained. Not to mention the impact that thousands of screaming female fans would have had on an eleven-year-old, in addition

I am a huge fan of Michael Jackson and I knew pretty much his whole life before I even had this book in my collection. I decided to get it one day, and I read it within a couple days after purchasing it. It is an easy read, easy to follow, and shows an insight into what Michael felt of his life and he shares some personal stories. Although the controversy is still years to come, it shows his struggles with who he is and how the tabloids treated him after the "Thriller" days.

I read this book many many years ago and being a huge Michael Jackson fan I found it to be very open and a great read. Michael talks about his childhood and his rise to fame especially during his "Thriller" era. I only wish that he would have added more to the book in his last years of life or that he would have wrote another book on his life after the trials. A big thank you to him for sharing his memories for his fans, especially now that he is gone. This is one book for sure I will NEVER get ...more

Really enjoyed reading this... until I got to the afterward and realized that they were taped conversations transcribed. I mean, MJ did go over everything and add more detail but I would have liked to know that in the beginning. Otherwise, a good read but perhaps sadder now because we know how his life eventually ends. In 1988, he was truly a different person. It's distressing to see how that changed, as his celebrity grew.

An honest and wonderful autobiograhy which gives us an insight into Michael Jackson's life and career from his Jackson 5 days till the Bad Era. Moonwalk was written in 1988 when he was just 29 years old. I couldn't stop reading and finished it in a day. A must have for every Michael fan. Rest in peace Michael, you'll always live on in our hearts.

Its so sad because the public eye know so little about this legend and right after his sudden we still know not that much. He is a genius he wasnt even trained to be so good at singing and dancing. Hes amazing LOVE THIS BOOK. LOVE MJ. Hes moon walking on heaven.

Michael is talking to you as if you are having a cup of tea with him in his living room. You get the sense that Michael is having more than tea, because his stream of consciousness takes fascinating turns and goes off on self-maieutic tangents, which provide insight into his character, determination, and artistry.

When I learned the Michael Jackson one of my favorite singers of all time had written a book I tracked it down like a bloodhound on a scent trail. And I am happy to announce that I was not disappointed. Just reading words that he had written and intended for his fans to read gave me a strong sense of euphoria.

This book was well written though it was very short and somewhat closed off like Michael always was with a lot of his personal life. It made me think of a child scared to document his or h

Michael Jackson was a very talented and multifaceted entertainer and man. We all basically know his story or at least think we do, but until you read Moonwalk you never know how Michael viewed his upbringing and his career(which coincided).

Of course this book was originally published in 1988, so this is his prospective for the year before that.

I loved that he shared this with his fans, his life at that time from his point of view interspersed with pictures of his family and himself through dif
