Finding and keeping a job has gotten harder, particularly if you have certain challenges. No one is going to admit there is discrimination going on, but if you have a little more grey in your temples, a little less spring in your step, your completion or accent is not quite right, then all the other reasons you might not get consideration are simply magnified. It's not really such a dream for companies who are hiring to have such a glut of job-seekers. After all, they have to filter through all...more
I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because it is so geared to the corporate sector. I'm not sure some of these tactics would work in other settings (academic in my case). But many of them are transferable to any job search. I particularly liked his introduction to google keyword searches. I did as recommended and read through the entire book first. I actually don't recommend that. About 2/3 of the way through I was getting information overload. The to-do list was getting awfully long, as was the a...more
If you have done any research at all on the latest methods that both companies and Head Hunters are using to discover top talent, you’ll quickly realize that by intelligently making your presence known via social media is the new rage.
This is the most comprehensive job seekers bible I’ve seen to date; principally when it comes to tying job hunter Guerrilla tactics “together” with social media tools. This read is literally a step-by-step handbook and is very easy to follow for job hunters feelin...more

This book has convinced me that my method of being a passive job seeker might not be enough. I went from scared to freaking out to pumped up to somewhat terrified of looking for work, being proactive and getting through an interview. I really like the idea of branding oneself but some of the recommendations are very bold and it will really take a lot of courage to do it. There are definitely a lot of ideas that I will do. This book is really helpful. The examples were mostly for higher executive...more
I'm a new grad, and i spent 4 months looking for a job, i had just 2 interviews and didnt get the job. I recently read this book , wrote my Guerilla Resumé and cover letter, last week i had 4 interviews. Most important i feel confident and prepared during interviews and calls, i'm now very positive about my future. There is so much tools, materials and advices about the whole process.
I strongly recommend this book

Guerrilla Marketing for Job Hunters is right on the money. This book cuts through the ambiguity of other job search books, and gave me clear actions and strategies to follow. The practical steps took some of my nervousness away. I think the guidelines for LinkedIn alone are worth the price of the book.
no effort at all was to address those of us in the public sector. everything seemed focused on sales, executives, and high level players. there was a light touch on those who have limited relevant experience and are just coming out of school - but this advice seemed trivial compared to the focus on the power players the book was obviously written for.
The new paradigm in job hunting! that's exactly what I think this book is about. I tremendously enjoyed realising that what I thought was a state of the art job searching strategies and tactics were actually out of date preconceived ideas that used to work fine for me not so many years ago (really, not many), but not anymore! The impact of the internet put in practical terms for job hunters is here as well as the fact that you have no choice but to take a deep dive into the art of spontaneity (...more
Full of awesome energy and tons of great ideas for personal branding that are rebellious in the best way.
Anyone can get some fresh thinking from reading this, though it has a specific focus on a certain type of job-hunter. The only reason it didn't get five stars from me, personally, is that it's so very targeted at the corporate world.
This is a full course of study, not a quick read, so be prepared to do your homework.

Very applicable for corporate positions - particularly those in sales/marketing. I was not comfortable with some of the things recommended. Some very good suggestions and worth a read but I think you should just take what fits for you and ditch the rest or modify the rest.
