Read the first chapter!

My Review:

The Plot:

From the moment of her birth, Mehcredi the Assassin has suffered cruelly beneath the vise grip of abuse, neglect, and torture. Abandoned mere moments after arriving into the world, first, with the death of her mother and then with sheer neglect from a would be father who ceases from that very minute to ever acknowledge their relation, Mehcredi is literally left to her own devices. Live or die, no one cares. Surviving not out the generosity of others, instead, Mehcr...more

The baron gained a baby girl but lost his wife. The Baron of Lonefell kept his heart hardened from that moment on. He had loved his wife but now she was gone. He gave the child to the midwife, never to think of her again. He had war to rage.

Mehcredi was named and passed from maid to maid. No one wanted her now that her father had basically disowned her. The laundress had just lost a child so Mehcredi was given to her. When Mehcredi was only a toddler, the woman killed herself. Everyone scuttled...more

I was already a fan of Ms Rossetti's Phoenix Rising series when I read The Lone Warrior. But I wasn't sure what to expect with the Four Sided Pentacle universe. Would it be so different I couldn't relate to it?
This series isn't just a carbon copy of Phoenix Rising, but is not so different that I felt alienated. Unlike other authors, Ms Rossetti has succeeded in creating two worlds that interlink, yet are also very different.
The Lone Warrior was the first m/f story I had read by this author and...more

I've read this book a few times now and each time I marvel at how Rossetti has managed to write such a difficult character as Mehcredi. Depicting both intelligence and logical social ineptitude while keeping the girl real was a juggling act very few would have been able to pull off. The way Mehcredi's innocence of life simply steam-rolls through all of Walker's protective walls is a joy to read. I swung between chuckling and gasping in disbelief at their interactions.

The plot is involved, offer...more

I devoured this book in one sitting. I just kept turning the pages until the end.

Of the three books in this series, this one has to be my favourite so far. Why? Walker and Mehcredi drive the story from page one. They're both incredibly complex characters, complete opposites in nature, personality and backgrounds. You can't help but feel drawn to both of them each time you read their POV and feel the struggles they go through as the story unfolds.

Secondary to the characters, but by no means less...more

The 3rd of the Four-sided Pentacle series introduces Walker, an earth shaman, bent on vengence, and Mehcredi, abandoned as a child and having no concept of human relationships.

At best, one would think these two characters would never gel, so extreme are their circumstances; but then that is the magic of this book. Walker trains Mehcredi how to fight, and how to live with others; while Mehcredi learns how to interact with people and how to interpret their words and actions.

This is a difficult jou...more

Mehcredi grew up a lone. Abandoned as a child, she has never felt the connection to anyone else until she is captured one day by a warrior. Mehcredi is confused as to why the warrior would want to harm her. Walker doesn’t take kindly to the fact that Mehcredi tried to harm his friend even if he starts to find her partially attractive. Mehcredi soon realizes that Walker is keeping her captive forever. He works his way into her body and heart.

At first the relationship is a bit bumpy and Walker in...more

The beginning of this story had me hooked. Until Mehcredi and Walker set off on their journey, I was invested in her story—of her awful childhood and how she makes new friends, gains self-esteem and, at times, loses progress.

I wasn’t so moved by Walker’s growing awareness of and lust towards Mehcredi. To call this book an erotic romance is, I think, stretching the definition. The explicit language merely emphasises the lack of depth in the sex sce...more

Enjoyed this one. It's the 3rd in a series but I didn't feel like I'd missed anything by reading no3 first. Great story and i am going to track down the first two as i like this author's style!

'Cestors' Bones, that book was boring. Didn't realize it was the 3rd book in a series, but I never felt confused or anything. The book was really slow. I had to force my way through it. Thank god it's over and I can get rid of the book. The characters have no chemistry, and Mehcredi is suppose to be an assassin-she ain't-, but ends up being a child like annoyance with no training of any kind. Big yawner.

This book found me.

I have already read the first two books in this series (earlier in the year) and was keen to read this one, but it hadnt been released yet and like many of the series I follow I forgot to look for it/hire it from the library. But then it practically jumped into my had last trip to the library for which I am grateful.

I enjoyed this book immensely it was a good continuation of the other 2 books in the series and neatly tied together a few of the loose strings (while creating mo...more

The beginning and middle of this book was "eh". I loved the first in the series - Cenda and Gray/Shad storyline kept me enthralled. The Prue/Erik was enjoyable. I found the Walker/Mehcredi storyline a bit slow. I found my mind straying from the book at points, and in others I read pretty quickly. The book got interesting for me when the other "sides" of the pentacle got actively involved in the story. From that point on, I enjoyed the book a lot, though that was more towards the end. I liked the...more

Loved the first two books in the series, but this book contained my Least Favorite Tropes Ever and there wasn't enough of the fightin' evil wizards that I also liked from the first books. Also the characterization of recurring characters doesn't match with the way they were portrayed in books 1 and 2.

I loved this book. It was well-written and covered so many emotions. A great storyline and keeps the characters from the other "pentacles" involved with this one. I can't wait for the next one.

I love Denise Rossetti. She never disappoints. *happy sigh* This book was awesome. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves love, friendship, and amazingly rich worlds.

Brutal! What a boring book. I'm embarrassed to say that I actually took precious time from my life to read this crap. Didn't like anything about it: not the story and definitely not the characters.

When I was very small, I had an aunt who would tell me the most wonderful fairy tales - all original. I grew up, as little girls do, but the magic of story still dazzles and enthralls me. On the good days, I like to think of myself as Scheherazade's sister. On the bad days - not so much.

I remain an incurable romantic who loves happy endings, heart-pounding adventure and the eventual triumph of goo...more
