Please excuse the blurriness because I took the pics with a phone so they're not the best quality. I just wanted to share the Dimka/Adrian love with my co-fans of the lovely, lovely Richelle Mead.

The graphic novel version of VA should only be read by people who have read the full-length print books first, or else you might get confused somewhat about the story because it's very condensed and a few details are skipped around on. But hot damn, these are fun reads if you've already devoured the boo...more

Just so everyone is aware, I'm only buying this (and eventually the Shadow Kiss graphic novel) due to darling Adrian's presence and because those two books were the high point of the series. I want to be able to scream either "That's totally how I thought he looked!" or "That doesn't look like the mental image I had of him at all!" And hot damn, Christian looks cool on that cover!

Ohmygoodness! Tears of joy. Tears of joy.
I. CANNOT. WAIT. THAT. LONG!!
Friggin April? For real?
Haha, I'm just sooo glad that they're making not only just the first book into a graphic novel, but the WHOLE SERIES :D
I have no idea how I'm gonna wait when they start making the graphic novel for the THRID book. Which is kinda sorta probably like my favorite book in the series. All the action and what-not ;D
But the worst part is the end. Which I will prolly cry yet again when it comes.

Sadly they cut a lot out, but that was to be expected. Beautifully rendered, although at times i was left criticising the artists work. WHO HAS THEIR EYES HALF WAY UP THEIR FOREHEADS?! It was like they just didn't bother.

The storyline moved a little fast but then maybe that's the way it happens in graphic novel. It was my first graphic novel, and I just read the final fight 'cause that's where I had left the novel.

But on any case, they had perfectly depicted Rose, Dimitri, Lisa or almost any other character. Though the strigois looked kinda funny and too unrealistic, they did an amazing work with Adrian freaking Ivashkov!
I was already in love with that guy after the series, and watching him the beautiful aura,...more

I really enjoy a well thought-out graphic novel. Especially of an already existing series, it's fun to see the characters come to life and it's like the "cliff notes" version, which is nice if it has been a long time since reading the actual book (in this case Frostbite).

Dimitri je Boh, Adrian je hot! A Christian veeeeľmi milo prekvapil ... MŇAAAAAAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My first graphic novel yall! And I loved it! I have read the book so I understood the story but sometimes I felt it just skipped right over something or condensed certain parts of the story too much. I think if I had not first read the book I would have been quite confused.

But I had read the book and getting to see Rose and Dimtri and Adrian was a treat. Certain things I had kind of forgotten about and having the scenes in front of me brought back all the feelings I experienced the first time I...more

As I said in my first review, there isn't much I can say on this book as it is the second book of the original series just in picture form, so for me the story is all there and set out wonderfully.

The only flaw in this otherwise beautiful representation of a great book is that it skipped over scenes quite quickly. I understand it is a graphic novel and it can't be 400 pages long like your average book but I think some parts needed to be extended just that little bit. That is where the denominati...more

When you love a series as much as I did with the Vampire Academy, I will look for anything to revisit the characters again. Also, since I am starting to read more graphic novels lately, this book was able to fill both needs at one time.

While the book does not go as in depth as the books do, they are a good refresher book to help you remember things that happened in the actual novels. While we refresh our memories through this book, we also get some amazing artwork that helps bring the characters...more

Rating (and review) for both Vampire Academy and Frostbite:

I am rating these comics based on the art, and the way the story is being depicted. It has nothing to do with the story itself (the Vampire Academy books are amazing). Let's just say, the comic was disappointing when it came to these things. I was expecting more.

Some of the problems I have with this comic are:

1. The art: It hurt my eyes. It bothered me at times. My main problem really is with ho...more

Najlepšie na týchto grafických novelách je to, že ich môžete čítať s niekým súčasne... a keď je ten niekto rovnako zbláznený a "na prášky" do Vampire Academy ako ja, tak ten zážitok stojí za to!!! No a tá ilustrácia...NO COMMENT!!! :DDDDDD

I really liked it, and thought it got the whole gist of Vampire Academy. However, with the graphic novel, you miss certain funny back and forth, or entire conversations that simply make the book. It's harder to empathize with Rose, because you don't fully get immersed into her thoughts.Yet, I think that's simply because it's a graphic novel and you can't cram it full, it just needs the important bits. Leigh Dragoon adapted it very well, and the witty thoughts are still there, making me laugh. It...more

And so Frostbite, the second book in the Vampire Academy series is converted into graphic novel format. The question about does it match up to the pictures in our head is somewhat void now, I think. The artwork and how the characters and their world has already been established and this book is continuing the same theme.

Again, though, the new major characters that are introduced into the series; Janine Hathaway, Adrian Ivashkov and Tasha Ozera are not how I pictured them at all. Not in a bad way...more

The graphic novel adaptation of Richelle Mead’s popular vampire series tells the story of 17-year old Rose Hathaway, a half-human mortal in training to become one of the select bodyguards who protect vampire royalty. Vampire races are divided into three sects, the evil, bloodthirsty Strigoi; the Moroi, magical vampires who only use violence in defense; and Dhampirs – like Rose – half-moroi who train at Vladimir’s Academy to serve as defenders. Rose hopes to graduate in order to protect her best...more

I AM SO EXCITED! I ordered it off of Amazon a few days ago and it should be here within the week! I am totally obsessed with this series, and I know, I know for a fact, that this graphic novel will be just as awesome as the first one! :D I can hardly wait for the movie in 2013, but still, even then, I am going to be criticizing it so much because of how many times I've read the book, and the book series in general. However, as soon it's out, I'm going to go ape and buy tickets. I am so excited!...more

Frostbite the Graphic Novel is a nice, quick read, really fast paced, but that's just kind of what you get in a graphic novel. I enjoyed it! It's been a while since Last Sacrifice and I missed these characters.

I love how Adrian was drawn! He's close to what I thought he'd be, and I kind of wish Dimitri was drawn like him too... I didn't expect Dimitri to be so buff, but that's just my opinion.

As always, not all the characters will be drawn the way you imagined them, so anyone who doesn't want to...more

OH.MY.GOD!!! I loved this graphic novel! Even though FROSTBITE is not my favorite book of the VA series, I definitely thought that Mead, Dragoon and Viceli really upped their game in the second book of this graphic novel series. I’ll break it down into parts so it’s a little clearer…

THE COVER:
The cover features Rose and Christian front and center, surrounded by those red-eyed Strigoi! Rose is definitely looking badass and Christian – *sigh* I love Christian – is looking...more

For the 2nd VA Graphic Novel - Frostbite, I can only say that it didn't met my expectations.
The disadvatage i refer to, in my review of the 1st installement of the series, has not changed, with a great lot of Rose's witty humor missing which is just down right sad.One of the serie's main addictive aspects is Rose's sarcastic sence of humor, remove that and all you left with is just another story.
By any means, i didn't expect to see an exact dialogue's match of the book's adaptated in the comic b...more

Way to butcher a good story. I know you can't transfer everything when turning a full sized book into a graphic novel, but this just felt like they went through the story, hitting up the major plot points and left everything else out. This left the flow of the story severely hampered, with sudden shifts in location, pace and mood, which made it feel discontinuous and hard to follow.

Due to the severely shortened story line any character development from the original book is practically gone and t...more

"Frostbite: A Graphic Novel (Vampire Academy)" by Richelle Mead and features art by Emma Vieceli is a 144-page full-color graphic novel of the second "Vampire Academy" Novel, Frostbite.
I love the Vampire Academy Series. It's one of my fav Series ever. Like the first graphic novel, I did enjoy reading this and I think the artwork is really amazing.

Unfortunately the story is not as complete as in the book. It doesn't go as in depth as the books do, but still a good refresher to help you remember w...more

Setting:
I mentioned in my review for the Vampire Academy: The Graphic Novel, the adaption took out a lot explaining of the world from the novel series. Well, that seemed to have been fixed a little in the prologue of Frostbite: The Graphic Novel. It explained all the stuff about the world they took off in first graphic novel. The problem with this was that they were dumping a huge load of information on you. And although the settin...more

Since I was just about to start another book this afternoon, I decided to read one of the graphic novels I had sitting in its own TBR pile! Richelle Mead's Frostbite was on top, so I decided to go with it! It was also the shortest one!

I love returning to the Vampire Academy world this way! Not only do I get to have color pictures, but the story is condensed. Which can be seen as both good and bad, but since my TBR pile is through the roof, I'm seeing it as good! And I think this might be due to...more

Frostbite is the second graphic novel to be adapted from the Vampire Academy Series. If you have not read the actual book series. I recommend that you do. There is so much more in the books that you just are not able to put into a graphic novel.

The story of this book/graphic novel is someone is picking of the royal families one at a time. The strigoi (the bad vampire's that kill human's moroi and dhampir's to gain strength) are using the unexpected to achieve this. We run into love, anger, loss,...more
