I loved that this book mixed Greek and Celtic mythology in a (fairly) believable way, and brought it to SoCal. (Why not, we got every other freak here, lol.) I also loved our lead heroine's voice - she sounded 16, whereas in a lot of YA the 16 year old sounds more like she's 60.
What threw me a little in the beginning was the title compared to the plot; I thought the heroine, Freddy was (or was supposed to be) the Heir to the Underworld. That refers to Polydegmon, the young man she falls in love...more

Both book and author were new to me, so i was excited to read Heir to the Underworld by E.D. Walker. A YA tale of other worldly legends and mythologies.
Freddy is a typical teenager, bizarre things happen around her and in a typical teenage fashion she takes it all on board in a quite blase fashion, her focus being on the "boy" (he's quite old) Deg she's taken a fancy to.
What i really liked about Freddy, while her attitude was fairly teenager-ish she was well trained in martial arts, and can wi...more

I would recommend this to people that like mythology in their stories. It was a unique read and easy to follow.
Freddy has met someone who is drop dead gorgeous. Unfortunately she finds out that she would have had an easier life if she had not met him being that he is the son of Hades, Greek god of the underworld. Now Freddy find herself caught as a pawn in a game of gods.
This book combines Celtic and Greek gods. This sounds like it could be disaster, but I thought it worked well together. I woul...more

Interesting story. I liked Freddy and Deg.
Sometimes mythology stories get kinda confusing, I haven't read up on my mythology since I was in grade school, but the book explained a lot of things.

E.D. Walker is a SoCal native with a BA in English Lit from Berkeley (GO BEARS!), who came of age with her nose stuck in a book and an obese cat kneading his claws in her lap. These days her nose is glued to her laptop as she pounds out her latest manuscript, and the obese cat, well, he just has to lie in wait until she goes to bed so he can knead his claws in her shoulder at 3am. And drool.
