A good memoir of a little known aspect of the war. What did the Coast Guard do during World War II? In short they were some of the sailors ferrying soldiers to the beaches in the Pacific. Dangerous work indeed. This was a pretty engrossing, very educational story of a young man in the Pacific island hopping campaign. A good read.
