Suze is in deep. She loves gorgeous, ghostly Jesse but fellow mediator, Paul Slater, is determined to win her heart. And evil Paul knows how to blast Jesse to the Great Beyond. For good. Paul promises he won't do anything to Jesse, as long as Suze will go out with him. Suze doesn't want to lose Jesse forever, so she agrees. But now she's having grave doubts: can a girl rea...more

I'm a BIG fan of The Mediator series, no that there's this fifth book to the collection, I really needed to read this.

The realtionship between Suze and Jesse is one of a kind, mainly because he's a ghost. But, she thinks he doesn't feel the same way. He rarely speaks to her, nobody can see him except her and paul.

Paul's a mediator too (someone who can see and communicate with ghosts). He's one of the bad guys and yeah he likes Suze too! When he kisses her, she actually kisses him back! I was thi...more

I loved this one!! I was heartbroken when Jesse went to the rectory, but oh did my heart flutter at the end - woooo!!! Nice twist too with "Grandpa Slater".

I agree, the fight chapter was hillarious!!! I love that CeeCee realized finally who Jesse is. And I love how she is willing to let Suze explain it all in time. What a great friend!!

I have really enjoyed this series and I have every intention of finishing the last book, however, this book just didn't do it for me. I know a lot was revealed about 'what' Suze is and what all she can do that she was unaware of, that part was great. I just got sick of hearing about Jesse. Good gracious me, that was ALL she thought, talked, whined, moped and pondered over. Jesse, Jesse, Jesse, ect. Why doesn't he like me? What did I do? How could I kiss someone else and like it when I love Jesse...more

Real rating: 3.5

A case of insomnia made me finish this book from june 17th to june 18th (I read it up until 7 am) lol

Then I just rated it and finally went to sleep, because I was in no condition of reviewing at the time.

I actually didn't like this one too much. I still liked it because I like the series as a whole (and this wasn't too bad. Or, at least, not as "bad" as the sixth one), but it was definitely different from the past books.

This time, the book is a little less about ghosts-bothering-...more

Meine Meinung

I swear, this series just get better and better. In this installment of Suze’s life in Carmel, California, the delectably dangerous Paul Slater reenters her life just when she thinks she will never see him again. Paul is the Devil in a hot bod—or so Suze believes as she recalls the past summer when Paul tried to kill her and make her ghostly sweetheart, Jesse, disappear forever.

Paul claims to know what, exactly, they are, why they communicate with ghosts and what else they can do. But Suze doesn...more
I think that this was an interesting installment. There were very little mediator events, which I appreciated. The book mostly concentrated on Jesse, Suze and Paul's love triangle. I was expecting another cliche mediator event to happen, but Meg Cabot surprised me and didn't go down the lane. Instead, all we had in this book was a love triangle. Surprisingly, it was enough for me. I didn't find myself too bored. While trying to remember what was in the previous 200 pages of the book, I can't see...more

This one has probably been my least favorite in the series so far. It seems like nothing really happens until the very end. Also, Suze was kind of being dumb in this one.

This wasn't my favorite in the series, but it still had me up late into the night. I really enjoyed it. I had a bad feeling about Paul the whole way through the book. I feel like it was encouraging us to change our minds about him, but I just couldn't do it. I was stuck with Suze and her opinion of him.
As always, I was rooting for Jesse (can I keep him?) and Suze. When I began the series I knew that somehow, Suze would get Jesse. And I was expecting it in this book. It didn't happen.
I'm not exac...more
The first of the series published outside of her Jenny Carroll penname, this is actually the book I read first (and then reread when I went to read them in the proper order for the first time). The two year difference between the fourth and fifth books shows in the writing. The fifth in the series is far tighter and much better written than the earlier books. Like the fourth book, the tension is palpable in this installment. Paul's return has brought about even more complications for Suze. Espec...more

I read this book a while back. It's great as a stand alone novel. In fact, I didn't even know there was a series until recently. I'm not terribly interested in reading the books prior to this one. This one has stood out in my mind as something fantastic for a while. The end does leave you wanting more, but I've been hesitant about finding out if there was more. I mean, how could it get better than this particular book?

I finally did a little research, low and behold, this is the fifth book. I'm g...more

Cabot has a way of writing that enthralls it's readers. This is definitely a good read for teens. If you are not one, like me, you might still find it keeping you on your toes. :)

The thing with non-early teens and those who have really read a lot of other good books, they might not have the patience to indulge in this series. Cabot has a way of stretching points and ideas that some of us may find too much. One may find a way of learning to adapt to this kind of writing, it is skipping all the ot...more

Thsi book was about all this haunted stuff and ghosts and things. I thing if you are very interested in mysteries and haunted things and ghosts then thi swould be the book for you!
I have such love-hate feelings about this series. I love Jesse, Father Dominic, and the family. Suze I like not at all. You'd think with everything she has encountered she would mature throughout the series or learn from mistakes - even a little bit. But this character does not evolve AT ALL. She is the same spoiled brat in book 5 that she was in book 1. I'd question Jesse's judgement, only he has no other options. I was hoping for more development with aforementioned loved characters, but they...more
If you haven’t figured it out, I LOVE this series. If you haven’t read it yet, you are seriously missing out!

Suze is beginning her junior year of high school in book number five. Obviously, that means a ton more shenanigans are about to ensue. With Suze, nothing is ever easy. However, she’s really preoccupied with the fact that Jessie, the murdered ghost that resides in her bedroom that she has actually fallen in love with, has not kissed her yet. I mean, hello! This boy is the love of her life...more

Review of abridged audiobook

I rate the actual book, Haunted, at 5 stars. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the abridged audiobook, which I rate at only 2 stars.

This is book 5 in the Mediator series, starring Susannah (Suze) Simon, a 16-year-old, high-school girl who encourages (and sometimes forces) recalcitrant ghosts to move on to the afterlife and stop bothering the living. Suze's powers include the ability to not only see ghosts but touch them. Which is a blessing when she can be hugg...more

Me and Meg Cabot have a little agreement...sure it might be one that she is not aware of but that's beside the point. I have given her a chance...and another....and another. I pretend I can't stand her quality of writing, that I think it's superficial, anti-feminist, etc.,etc., blah blah blah...Her stories are bearable but I tend to have a blatant dislike for her main characters (I mean really how many Doc Marten wearing characters can a single author have, especially seeing as most people stopp...more
UHhh...ach Jesse.

well, i love this book. there re so much happen in this book. like there are many interesting scene in this book, and i bet if they decide to make the tv show it would be tense, fun and exciting. :D
okay, like paul. like i a bit disappointed with paul. i mean from the previous book, he seems really nice and turn bad. and perhaps he's isnt that bad. he just thught that suze is fine there. because theres no time limit for mediator. but, the thing that i dont like from paul in this book re bacuse he...more
I get horribly addicted to childrens/young adult literature, the curse of being a teacher. I was standing in line to purchase "Breaking Dawn" the night it came out and one of the young girls in line was talking about this series. I thought, "Heck, I'll check it out." Bad move for me, because I was hooked right away.
The series is about a young girl who is a mediator (someone who can see and talk to ghosts of people who haven't moved on). It is an interesting series, but I really want to be finis...more
This was a pretty good book. You have Suze Simon, 16-year-old girl who's really a Mediator, meaning she can communicate with the deceased and help them to their final resting place. In addition to that, she has Jesse, the ghost of a nineteen-year-old Latino who died in the nineteenth century, and, for some reason, is unable to cross over to the afterlife, living in her bedroom. Well, as luck would have it, Suze and Jesse fall in love(yep, a living girl and a dead guy), but there's someone stand...more

Kasih 3.5 bintang, tapi genepin 4 bintang buat Jesse. Kyaaaaa....Jesse sungguh keren, hihihi....

Dan parahnya si Paul usaha banget me...more

“Well, hi, CeeCee," I said. "Hi, Adam. Nice of you two to drop by. Ever heard of knocking?"
"Oh, please," CeeCee said. "Why? Because we might interrupt you and your precious Jesse?"
Jesse, upon hearing this, raised his eyebrows. Way up.”
