No, dammit, I don't want you to end. This manga series, my favorite of all times, has bottled up countless emotions for me, and even though this time was a reread, I still feel myself dying.

This series has grown on me, since the time we first saw Ed with his short temper and Al with his lion heart. It would be unjust for me to leave the rest of the gang out; every single one of them has become a part of me. Scar, Mustang, Hughes, and even Envy.

Ah, I guess I'm being a little melodramatic. Forgiv

Always love you Ed, you too Al. You both will be ok, won't you? Take care now. Say hi to Winry and Grams. If you guys run into Hohenheim, don't be too harsh. He's old, and broken hearted, and only have one life to live. So be gentle, right. And Ed... drink your milk!! You do want to grow taller, don't you?!? ;p

I wonder, what will happend General Amstrong? Will she and Mustang fight for "The Chair"??!? Naaayy... she isn't that political type anyway. She's back to north I guess. Haha...Major Alex

One of the best manga in the world! Even if I haven't read all the manga, I can surely say it.
God! Who transmuted all these onions into tears? But don't worry, Edward. It is tears of joy!
This one month of my life was a great journey into fantastic alchemy worlds! Hiromi Arakawa did wonderful job with this manga! She is now one of my favorite mangaka!
The powerful parts of this manga:
1. Incredibly solid and well-executed idea, story! So complex and beautiful!

First off: some preliminary awesomeness

Entering into this series, I did not know fully what to expect. I’d heard the title passed around a lot between my various social groups. When one of my friends, who owned books 1-10, lent me the first copy, along with the first copy of Rurouni Kenshin, I definitely found Kenshin more appealing. I made it through FMA volumes 1-2, thought, “Meh, it’s okay, but I don’t like where this is heading,” but, because I had book 3 close at hand, figured I might as we
A strong ending to overall a great adventure manga. Most manga in the same teenage adventure genre have become like American superhero comics or in other words never-ending stories that doesnt mean as much without an actual ending.

Arakawa didnt get greedy and milk it for 500 volumes and FMA is a rare mature quality manga for its genre.

The brilliant ending to this brilliant story has stuck with me for weeks now. (Spoilery discussion of ending to follow!)-- My initial reaction upon reading it was a little mixed--overall, I loved it, but at first I wondered if it was a bit TOO happy. All the main characters survive and more or less get what they've worked towards, and after such a long, convoluted story where so many incredibly dark things happen, I was anticipating a darker or less overtly happy ending. After thinking it over, ...more

I'm actually reviewing the series as a whole. NO, why does it have to end?!? This was the first manga series that I read and the first anime series that I watched and I've absolutely enjoyed both and am sad that both have now ended. Don't worry there will be no spoilers here.

Hiromu Arakawa is a genius. She has crafted a well written series that actually has a true storyline. We really feel the heartache that the Elric brothers endure along the way while trying to find the means to restore their

I FINISHEEEEEEED. It took me a long time, but life happens, I couldn't read all the time. But now, here we are. 109 chapters later.
I'm so nostalgic about Fullmetal Alchemist. It was the first anime that I watched that wasn't from my childhood. And the manga was just as amazing. I'm glad I finally took time to read it. This story about two brothers helping each other really touches me. I'm all for family members and their relationships.

In short, I'm impressed. This is a BIG story with LOTS of characters and a complex storyline. At times I worried that the story had gotten away from its creator, but those worries proved unfounded. Arakawa wrapped it up in a satisfying way, maintaining the complex relationships and circumstances that have developed over the run of the manga. She kept me guessing as to how it would all work out in the end, and I had my doubts. I was pleasantly surprised.

My thoughts on the series as a whole:

After it all, the start that introduced the two brothers and what they could do, the world that they inhabited, the larger grand scheme that they were found themselves intimately involved in, the various characters that have helped, hindered, caused us joy and heartbreak, the gains and losses made in this titanic struggle, after it all, this is it. The final volume of this amazingly terrific series.

*The Following review is written off the cuff and is made in the heat of the moment. It will be pretty sloppy. In time I will come back and refine this thing. Just so you know, otherwise I think this turned out pretty well!*

Fullmetal Alchemist is the kind of series that's so good that I'm kind of jealous of it. The series has a pitch perfect balance of drama, comedy, action, and is able to fit in a large cast of characters who all contribute to the overall plot and manage to get a little charact

Too bad we had to spend most of the denouement with Ed and Al.

I spent most of the series being like, can we get back to politics? Please? Of all the plots and characters in this series, those two were the least interesting. This was a series with SO much cool stuff happening, but we kept having to come back to them. And, like, they were great! But this was a HUGE cast, and everyone was so cool, that it feels like for most of the middle section the protagonist role was shared between all of them

10/10 stars.

What an amazing series! I really loved this! It had such a strong storyline and was executed really well. All of the characters had depth (main characters, side characters, and the bad guys were all well written). The plot twists were great. Despite the seriousness of the actual storyline, there were still plenty of humorous moments and even the fight scenes had funny parts. However, even with the hilarity scattered throughout, the reality of killing and taking other people's lives w

I'm not in the habit of only reviewing the last of something in a series, but I consumed these way too voraciously to pause and write reviews of the former installments. And all I have to say now is: flawless. A crapton of manga is output by the industry, but in my opinion, it only really succeeds and gains more widespread success is if it transcends and breaks the boundaries of the expectations of the craft. There are a million shonen mantas, but FMA is the ruler of all shonen for a reason. Thi ...more

Full Metal Alchemist is about Edward Elric and his little brother Alphonse trying to restore their bodies. When they were both young, their father left them without a warning and their mother died from a disease. Because of that, the boys decided to learn alchemy in order to bring their mother back to life. In their universe, alchemy is a special ability which lets them transform something in to something else for equivalent exchange. When they tried to resurrect their mother, they did not know ...more

I started this series last year. At first I thought it was just some cool story about people who preform some cool science stuff.
But I was wrong.
This series is AMAZING! Amazing characters, amazing story, amazing setting, just amazing everything! And what does an amazing series need? An amazing ending.
And was this series amazing?
Yes, yes it was.
It was absolutely perfect. I'm not going to put any spoilers here but the way it ends leaves you with a satisfying feeling (unlike the first anime) b

I would have sworn that there were only 25 volumes of this, but since I saw the 27th at Barnes and Noble today (and flipped through it, OMG the minicomic with Hohenheim and Trisha D'AWWWWWW) I guess I would be wrong.
Anyhow, I just wanted to make sure that the review I wrote and always intended to post on the final volume was, in a way: it can be found here.

What can I say? This is the end of what I consider to be one of the finest manga ever. It tics all the right boxes for a finale. It ended pretty much exactly how I would have liked it (well I might have asked for a happier ending for my favorite couple but still).

I did see this online when it first came out (and what took me three years to read the last manga? And how is it three years??). There were things I didn't remember (like a scene with Rebecca and Riza while she's being doctored) or that

FMA is one of my favorite stories in any medium. It's very rare when something I love this much comes along. I'm sad it's over, but it's a satisfying ending. I am glad for the few new pages tucked away in the extras. That was a nice touch and I get to remember the excitement and anticipation of seeing a page for the first time.
