This book takes place before Savannah Breeze, with the same characters, Weezie and BeBe.
Weeize is recently divorced and living on the same property as her ex-husband and his girlfriend (in the carriage house.) This book was given to me by a true Southern gentleman. He had no idea what the book was about but read the jacket and thought, since I lived in Atlanta & was divorced, that I would like it. He was wrong....I loved it!!! All the characters have the most colorful personalities - and if you know the South that's how it is. This is an easy to read, yet well written, light romance/murder mystery set in Savannah, GA. The author really nails the location, with lots of relevant name-dropping and great descriptions of the social atmosphere as well as the hot, humid climate. She does a good job of explaining the "art" of antique picking without boring the reader, and makes her characters very real, with plausible, distinct personalities. An entertaining little book about a woman in Savannah,GA who makes her living as an antiques picker. This one is an easy read, and it has enough stuff to keep you interested (murder, relationships, back-stabbing, greed). I do think it was written well... the characters are well developed, and you definitely get a sense of "knowing" them by the time you are finished. I'm more into dramatic books, but this kept me busy while driving cross-country. Although, honestly, I'm not sure if ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed every word of it!
The author really knows her stuff, and has such a knack for putting together a seamless tale, with plenty of twists and turns. I felt like I was watching one of my longtime, standard, "old favorite" black-and-white movies. There's crazy family dynamic, witty repartee, genuine emotional conflict, crazy "whodunit" schemes and all set in the laid back southern Savannah summer, with good ol' southern accents and names.

I liked this book but I did't love it and I'm not really sure why. I enjoyed the setting and the characters but something fell short for me. Maybe it's that I'm not into the whole antique deal and that played prominently into the story or maybe it's that I was just anxious to move on to something else or maybe it's that I expect a "Chick Lit" book to be even more outlandish, I'm not sure. I would definitley read something else by Andrews but I don't feel like I'm dying to run out an...more

Loved it - reminded me of "Steel Magnolias" especially since the main character was named 'Weezie' (just like Weezer)! Another perfect beach read loaned to me from Cathy.
The book is about Weezie's life - an antique picker, divorcee, Catholic Southerner who gets caught up in a good old fashioned revenge story. Loved every minute of it!

There is much I enjoyed about this book--the whole description of the Savannah scene was excellent. The writing style also an enjoyable read; only small negative for me was too much detail on antique purchases. Some of that was fine--I learned about "pickers", for example, but so much description of so many purchases/deals just made the book longer than it needed to be, I thought. However, for others, I am sure, that aspect greatly contributed to their enjoyment.

I absolutely loved this book. Actually I listened to the unabridged audio CD version, and the reader was excellent. The characters were most interesting, but the subject matter was the most intrigueing. I loved antiques and have a particular curiousity for the south (ever since I read "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil"), so I really enjoyed the story's seting and topics.
I look forward to reading any others in this series, and perhaps her others as well.

A fast, entertaining read. Lots of quirky, fun characters. A mixture of romance, mystery, and antiquing. First novel from mystery writer Kathy Hogan Trochek. Author was a journalist covering the Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil scandal. Highly recommend.

First off I have to say that I really enjoy all the books I have read by this authour. There is so much Southern charm in it, which I think I have mentioned in my other reviews for her books.
Weezy Foley loses her historical house and hubby to a woman who later ends up dead. The police believe that Weezie is the culprit.
In the end she gets the old boyfriend, the historical house and a sober mother.

I really enjoyed this book with it's references to life in Savannah Georgia. The author is really good at adding these references into the everyday conversations between her characters. I felt at times that I was sweating right along with the main character Weezie in the humid summer heat. A great little mystery, easy read and a fun way to spend the day. A few "F" words so beware:)

Weezie is a "picker." She buys things from estate sales and resells them. She is recently divorced (her ex was cheating on her) and when her ex's gal ends up dead, Weezie finds herself being blamed for the crime. It's a really cute love story that is a fast, easy read.

My grown children live in Savannah and I visit often. I read this book as sort of a joke since it is about savannah and my friend in savannah recommended it (she knows the author). It is a quick read but prbably not interesting to anyone without ties to the area. It is described to a tee, full of local characters. Simple and predictable mystery type story.

Anyone who likes girly books
It was a very entertaining book. It is set in Savannah, Georgia and that was great because my husband and I just took a vacation there this June. It was fun and even had a little mystery and suspense. Very good. This is the first I had read of this author and I really liked it. I will read her other books now I think.

Not quite a mystery, not quite chick lit, this book was a nice entertaining read, better written than most light mysteries. It fit my mood of the moment perfectly as it's a great escape from whatever might be going on around you. It would also be a good beach read. I look forward to reading more by this author.

If you want a damn good read set in the southm, this is it. A lot of people dismissed this as fluff, but I it's so beautifully written, I don't see how anyone could NOT love this book about antiques, love gone wrong, and even a little junking thrown in for good measure. It's pure fun and unputdownable.

Yet another one of my spreadsheet-work audiobooks. This book was very entertaining and exactly what I needed at the time. It was fun, light, had great characterizations and definitely kept me engaged until the end. I actually created more spreadsheet work for myself just so I could finish it!

Southern chic lit is how I would label this one. The story takes place in Savannah. The main character is a "picker" with an exceptional eye for the true value of her finds. I had more fun reading about her finds than the romantic angle and the mystery angle. A lot of story in this book.

The story itself was interesting, but something about the main character (Eloise) just never quite came together for me. I struggled throughout the book to picture her as the early-thirties divorcee she's supposed to be, instead of an older woman more likely in her forties.
