Jessica Andersen incorporates Mayan and other Native American lore into this series. The protagonists' goal is to prevent the Mayan Doomsday Prophecy - the end of days - from occurring. The Nightkeepers use their magic, strengthened by their fated mates, to fight the Mayan underworld's gods.

Snake (Dez) Mendez has not had a charmed life, he’s survived the massacre at Skywatch that took not only his family but most of the Nightkeepers, an ancient race who’s duty it is to protect the earth and prevent the apocalypse the end date will precipitate if the beings of the underworld have their way. He’s battled not only being orphaned but also being stuck with a winikin ( a protector and servants of each of the particular noble blood lines of Nightkeepers) who’s lost his mind, so Dez does t...more
Storm Kissed is a highly erotic tale that magic lures readers deeper into the story.
Reese Montana met the love of her life years ago in the form of bad boy, Dez. Their love affair was intense and electric. It all ended when Reese, put Dez in jail, trying to protect him while they found the gangbangers who were out to get him. Years later, she learns that he is alive and working with the Nightkeepers, a group of humans that hold magic powers, sworn to protect mankind from the 2012 Mayan doomsday...more

Wow! WoW! WOW!! I have not read any of this series...I picked this one up on a total whim and it is book 6 in this series. FANTASTIC BOOK and I would guess that the whole series is this way....so reminiscent of JR Ward Brotherhood series, but these guys are Mages trying to save the world from the destruction that is predicted to happen in 2012. WoW! I cannot tell you how good this book was...it's a fantastic world that Jessica Andersen has created. Now I need to go find the previous 5 books...IM...more

This book is my new favorite out of the Nightkeepers series. It definitely marks a much needed turning point in the ongoing saga of the war of the magi against the 2012 doomsday. This volume picks up a year after the effects of the triad spell rocked the surviving magi. Although he was brought back into the Nightkeeper fold by becoming a triad mage, resident bad boy Snake Mendez (Dez) has gone off on a mysterious...more

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE OTHER NOVELS!
Okay I love the world Andersen has created, though the 2012 ending of the world is kind of getting annoying in the real world... but that's another story. The story centers around the snake magi Dez Martinez and his childhood love, now hunter Reese Montana. The two had a hard childhood and leaned on each other to get through a horrible neighborhood; until Dez unknowingly takes a statuette from his winikin and it turns him into one of the monsters...more

Wow. That's all I can really say with this book. It totally changed the play for the next books in my opinion. I don't like to give anything away so I'll be very cryptic here. But I wonder how the changes will truly play out- no one will feel bitter? The changes are going to be all smooth and fine?
I really did like Dez- although his eating choices sure sounded strange! Not so sure if I liked Reese as much as I liked Dez. Her constantly waffling between trusting and not trusting made me want to r...more

Holy Sh** Batman! Way to come back from two slightly less stellar books! Dez was great (wasn't sure I'd like him), the story REALLY moved forward, things changed significantly and now I'm excited about the series again! Can hardly wait for Sven's book. If you haven't started this series and can deal with the end date prophecy (my book club won't read these because there are people who won't touch these until after 12/21/12 due to superstitions) then I strongly recommend the series. It deals more...more
Book six of The Nightkeepers (Final Prophecy) series only one year out from the Mayan end of days prophecy (21 December, 2012) where if the Nightkeepers don't get their act together demons from the Underworld dimension of Xibalba will over run and take over the Earth. This is a series with a lot of world building and a storyline which can be a little formulaic but Andersen has kept the series fresh with a major twist at the end of this instalment.

Excellent series and plot to entertain each and every time. With each series book it leads you into the next in line almost seamlessly. A carry forward story line. Never thought reading of the prophesied end time would be so riveting. The power of the Nightkeepers in transition and otherwise shows their willingness NOT to take everything at face value. Also, the idea of interpreting these prophesies gives new meaning to "drive me crazy" overall. The characters remain fresh in your mind from prio...more
I have been curious about Mendez since the very first book, when he was hauled to prison and Strike gave up on him. Now a year has passed, and Dez is part of the team. He is big and strong, and he still keeps secrets from his fellow warriors. So when he goes after his mad Winikin when he has send Dez a message, he doesn’t tell the others about it. Who think they have no other choice but to send the bounty hunter who apprehended him before after him. Not knowing that Reese and Dez have a shared p...more
Honestly, I didn't know what to expect from the Nightkeeper that has remained, thus far, largely in the shadows. There was little excitement to learn about the formerly incarcerated Snake "Dez" Mendez. Up until now, all we really heard was that he was big, bad, and spent a lot of time in prison. We saw him captured by a bounty hunter in the first book, but since then, he has been talked about, but not brought into the Nightkeeper world. So what was there to look forward to?

Upon completing Storm Kissed, I have to say this (the Final Prophecy) is such a great series. It is Urban Fantasy at its best, where Jessica Andersen uses Mayan history/mythology, using Gods, Legends, Demons, End of World date and creates our Nightkeepers to try and save the world. She does this using modern day, and it works so very well. Andersen has also done a wonderful job in each book bringing together all the couples (destined mates), and yet keeping all of the characters in the storyline...more
Jessica Andersen has been writing the dynamic and engaging Nightkeepers series for years so jumping right in with Storm Kissed (number six in the series) is not the way to go. I’ve been enjoying this series from the beginning but with all of the reoccurring characters and ongoing story line, this is not the book to start with. If you’ve been enjoying this series since the beginning like me, this was another great addition to the Nightkeepers stories. Dez has been the community’s bad boy for so l...more
Ten years ago, she knew she loved him and she knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. Then everything went to hell. Literally. And they drifted apart. He toward perdition as the leader of a street gang, she toward salvation as a bounty-hunter.
Three years ago she put him in jail to save his life and he hated her for it.
One year ago she learned he was dead. Killed by a rival street gang.
Now, she learns he’s alive. A changed man. A good man. He’s been helping the Nightkeepers, a rac...more

I wanted to read and love this book, I really did. That being said, I just couldn't finish it. Too many characters, too much mythology, strange names and powers (so much that it needed a glossery at the back!) & back story type narrative spoiled the book for me. It simply didn't hold my interest. It may have been that this is the first book I've picked up out of the series, but I believe that even series books should be "stand alone"....
Loved it. A great addition to the Nightkeeper world. We finally get the story surrounding the mysterious Dez and does that story pack a punch. Jessica Andersen really shakes things up with this installment. As a huge fan of the series I am now eagerly awaiting 2012 for the final 3 books. The story of Sven which we get glimpses at in Storm Kissed and then finally Anna and Rabbit with back to back releases.
I loved this book! As I have said before, this series started out slow for me but has picked up speed. Every book she puts out on this one just gets better and better! The end is mind blowing if you have been following the series and is totally got me excited about the next book! Magic Unleashed will be out soon, and I will definitely be reading that one also! If you are even a bit interested in Mayan lore you will love this series.
I wasn't too sure what to expect from this book, Dez wasn't someone who was shown in a good light at all, a former gangbanger and an ex-con, just how would he fit in with the Nightkeepers. As much as this book was about the fight going on in the now, it was also about the past that Dez and Reese had.
You could tell that Dez was hiding things from the start, you just weren't sure what it was. I thought it was more about his past and yes it was, but it was so much more and not anything I expected....more

By far my favorite in the Nightkeeper series. Literally couldn't put it down! Loved Dez and Reese. Andersen threw in an unexpected curveball in this one but looks like things are looking up for the Nightkeepers now (which I will not spoil for those who haven't read it yet). Definitely looking forward to the next book.
I enjoyed this recent addition to the Nightkeepers story. I feel like I missed quite a bit of Dez's transformation/time between the last book and this one. Ms. Andersen left out a leap in character and story development, and I feel like there should have been some sort of time bridge for it. I read a short story in an anthology, but it was very independent of the events at Skywatch. In any event, it's a good read and a very interesting turn of events for the entire storyline.
Storm Kissed was an exciting ride filled with twists and turns not expected.
Reading through the struggles the NightKeepers face in this installment was like riding a roller coaster with your eyes closed and not knowing what the next turn might bring. Dez and Reese are quite a couple. And the unknown of the Triad magic and its effect on Anna was a mystery worth reading.
Strike fans are also in for a ride in this installment. Fasten your seatbelts because its bumpy.

This is book 6 in the Final Prophecy series and the final book is due out before the end of days based on the Mayan calendar. These books are sexy, romantic, suspenseful, and have lots of paranormal elements. Nightkeepers are hereto stop the end of times with the help of the gods. They have been hidden and protected by their winkins after a terrible tragedy occurred. To fully gain their powers and prepare to battle evil to save the world they must find their true mates.
Well what can I say...this book was fan-freaking-tastic!! From beginning to end...and I loved the way JA provided backstory to Reese and Dez's story. I thought he was going to be a completely different character when he was first introduced. I really like what JA did with his character and, in the end, he becomes the new King of the Nightkeepers. :-) The ending was the best part with the whole proposal though...made me go, AWWWWWWWWW!
