Besides the Big Book (AA), this helped me in the early stages of recovery. The first 30-90 days of sobriety are the toughest for most, and I needed all the ammo I could get my hands on. I read numerous books pertaining to the subject, but Gifts of Sobriety was the one that gave me the most hope, the possibiity of a better life.

The writing is simple and accessibe, not cute and difficult to relate to. It is not floury, but it does pound home all the positives the recovering addict can look forward

I am in love with this book. If you are in the program of AA and are serious about it, this book breaks down every line in the 9th step promises. It breaks down each line into chapters and explains, in great detail, what exactly these promises mean and the significance that they have on our recovery in everyday life. I personally love it and I am grateful that it has been lent to me by a very awesome woman in my life.
