The Prison in Space was a Second Doctor script, rightly dropped from Season 6. The author was comedy writer Dick Sharples, and it concerns a future Earth where women have taken over. (Like the Two Ronnies' The Worm that Turned, but not as good, if you can imagine that.) Zoe is brainwashed into thinking that women are superior, until - and I am not making this up - Jamie spanks her. (As he threatened on their first meeting.) The eponymous prison is called the OSCE, here meaning the Outer Space Co ...more

Big Finish needs to learn that some "Lost Stories" deserve to stay lost. The Prison in Space is godawful. (I realize that they didn't have much to choose from for this box set, since TPiS basically the only Troughton-era unmade story that had a script that could be adapted, but that doesn't mean it was a good idea to go forward with it.)

The Dalek story fares a bit better (but really, how many brothers does Sara Kingdom have!?), but it's kind of a pointless listen since it ends on a cliffhanger t

Interesting story. Fairly controversial for a 40 year old story. Bonus, I think it's got the right stuff to piss off both mysogynists and feminists alike: Good job! Seriously though, a good little story and well performed. Had a solid Troughton vibe to it.

The Dalek story was okay but not really my bag. I really liked the 60's Sci-fi feel they brought to it. It did piss me off that they snuck it into a second Doctor box set when it had fuck all to do with the second Doctor; but it had Jean Marsh

This box set has 2 great adventures. The first one has THE Doctor, Jamie and Zoe landing on a planet run entirely by women. The men are prisoners and made useless. Can the doctor free the planet for everyone. Find out. The second story Sara Kingdom fighting the Daleks in a series that was almost made in America in the 1960's. It's wonderful to hear Jean Marsh again.

Some lost stories really should have remained lost. This is a modern remake of a lousy 1960s script about a society ruled by women.
