Some spoilers, beware. (Although honestly, after 50 pages my "revelations" below would have become clear anyway.)
Sorry, Ken. But two of your three most prominent plotlines really stank. What's the only way to feel good about leaving your wife for a woman you fell in love with ten years ago? Two ways: 1) Have your entire memory removed so it ain't your fault when you respond like a horny 17-year-old to your once and future flame - how were you supposed to know you were married?, and 2...more

On what is an otherwise normal morning in 1958, Luke Lucas wakes up on the floor of a public bathroom in Washington, D.C.'s Union Station wearing a bum's clothing and with absolutely no memory of anything before that point in his life. However, as he starts to piece his life back together, he discovers that he is a rocket physicist who is working on the launch of the U.S.'s first satellite that is scheduled to occur in about 36 hours. He also finds that he is being followed by the CIA and he mus...more

i don t know if im becoming a reading snob or what but these types of books seem so fake to me after reading great writers. the sex scenes seem to be sprinkled in as obligatory requirements from the publisher. he tried to make his story authentic by putting scientific details in ala tom clancy. i got the feeling he was reading from rocketry manuals while typing this information. it reminded me of those scary days of the cold war which i am old enough to remember.

people who love a thriller, people who want to be a writer
I listened to this book on CD. It was really exciting and kept me wanting to pop in the next CD just to see what was going to happen. It made me want to be a writer. I immediately, after finishing, set out to write a book, but then realized it was in too similar a voice to this book, and after all it was not my voice, so I scrapped the project after about 13 pages. Maybe the fact that it was a book on CD made me like it more, but I thought it was fun, and what would amount to a page turner.

Another fun holiday book to read. I like the spy/thriller genre so quickly got settled into this book. Several pieces of rocket science is used at the beginning of each chapter which fitted in well with the theme of the book.
Reminded me a bit of the Bourne Identity series but still a good read. Read late into the night and then woke up early this morning and finished the book off.

Another audio book and I give it three stars because it kept me awake in the car for 8 hours. I liked the space race theme, but I had the plot figured out almost immediately. I have never read a Follet book, so maybe that is his formula - let the reader in early and use character development to keep them engaged.

It really is amazing that Follett chooses to write on a variety of topics, and he does it well. This book keeps the reader guessing the identity of the protagonist because he has amnesia and has to discover who he is and what he has done. 1958 but lots of flashbacks to WW2. A fast read.

After reading and loving "The Pillars of the Earth," I wanted to read one of Follett's suspense novels so I picked up Code to Zero. I enjoyed the way the plot unraveled and the manner in which Follett revealed the relationships between the characters. It was an entertaining novel.

Once again Ken Follett has set his spy story in a new place. This time he has combined psychology and the race for space. I would never have thought to put those two diverse ideas together in one story. But is seems so plausible. His characaters are well portrayed.

Another just okay book. I was able to finish it, but it seemed to really drag on for the last 100 pages and I was just thinking aboutwhat I could read next. Not nearly as good as the other Follett book I read, The Pillars of the Earth.

After reading Pillars of the Earth and World Without End, I thought I'd try one of Follet's earlier books. Characters are just as good. This was a book on tape that I enjoyed on the way to and from work. Very suspenseful.

Good Ken Follet book. The race to space with Sputnix launched and the space department has problems. Spies and
suspense on the loose. Really enjoyed the twists and turns that he keeps the suspense coming.

I read the Third Twin by Follett and liked it. This was fun, too. I would rather the spy thriller was more up to date, but this centered around the historic event of America's space race.

A Soviet plot to damage the US's first space satellite launch involves a group of pre-war college friends. Loyalty, friendship and love are all challenged. Good suspense.

I listened to this (unabridged) in the car. It was well-written and well-read. I liked it even though it was formula. The plot was twisty enough to be interesting.

This one made me really like Ken Follett. It was suspenseful and an all around fun book to read. I'm a sucker for espionage, though, so maybe that's what got me.

Read this over a couple of nights on spring break. I've read a couple of Follett's books and he's pretty good. Not great literature, but a fun read.

My first Ken Follet book. My dad gave me this book. Unuasual reading for him. I enjoyed it, but did not plan on reading any other books by him.

I would rate this a good cloak and dagger/suspense thriller. While it isn't a challenging read the story does move quickly.
