I really love stories about awkward and self-conscious characters. Inevitably, I know that I’m going to get to read a story about someone finding the courage to come out of their shell. They seem to be the best characters, perhaps because they’re more relatable, or because love inspires them to become a better person. Its a bit shmaltzy, but in an “aww, how sweet” kind of way that, if done well, can be genuine and not saccharine. This story hovers right on the line of overly sweet, but doesn’t g...more

Todd is a pretty ordinary guy, an electrician working for tv shows and enjoying every minute of it. He is a big fan of America’s Next Top Dancer and in particular of Nathaniel, one of the dancer; when he has the chance to sub for one of the electrician working for that show, he would have never guessed that was also the chance to meet Nate. Even if working for a real show, Nate is as much ordinary as Todd, and when the two guys meet, a sweet and romantic love story will start.

I liked the contra...more
Lovely and sweet short story!
I'm a sucker for class difference and blue collar stories, so I adored this one :) Hot and heartwarming!

Todd is an electrician who works on TV shows in Hollywood. He gets called into work temporarily on the set of a dance contest show. He's thrilled since he loves the show and has been crushing on Nathanial (Nate), one of the contestants for week. He's thrilled to see Nate dance up close and actually talk to him. Nathanial proposes that he teach big bear of a Todd to dance. Todd's got no rhythm, but agrees in order to spend time with Nate who manages to teach him to dance without killing...more
Review: This was a charming, very enjoyable story about Todd who gets the chance not only to meet, but to experience a lot more with his fantasy man.
Review for Brief Encounters Reviews:

At first, I found the author’s style rather simplistic, and I was concerned it didn’t give enough emphasis to the emotions of the characters. Todd’s excitement at his new job opportunity and the anticipation of seeing his screen hero seemed to be muted by a very linear stor...more

They say the tango is the dance of love...after reading Dancer and Sexy Big Man, I’d say the waltz has the tango beat by leaps and bounds.

I’ll admit right off that the blurb intrigued me. I’ve done my share of dancing and I’ve got friends who know a thing or two about moving around a stage. Nothing they’ve ever said sounded so delicate, beautiful, and engaging as the dance between Nate and Todd. Nothing.

I’m glad I picked up this book. The characters are complex and fun. The writing flows well...more
What a sweet short story!! What I celebrate the most from this story is the idea of an electrician and a dancer hooking up. There aren't many M/M stories with blue collar workers taking the front seat. So I hugely embrace Todd as a character. Sure, the description of him being a big hairy guy isn't really my thing (I'm not into hairy guys) BUT he's just so sweet, with his crush over Nathaniel, the dancer. Throws in some lovely dancing lessons, a courtship (which I LOVE rather than just jump stra...more

I just love stories about sexy dancers. This one was just right, though I wish it were a full length story. Todd, an electrician who works in the television industry is temporarily assigned to work on America's Next Top Dancer, his favorite TV show. He's always liked it but it's become his favorite due to his crush on one of the dancers - Nataniel, aka Nate. They meet, they dance, they date, they dance, they fall in love. Sweet. Nice little romance for someone looking for a quick feel good story...more

Recommends it for: Romance lovers
This is an adorable story about a lumbering electrician, Todd, who gets the opportunity to meet his tv crush, Nathaniel, while working on the dance competition show America's Next Top Dancer. I really liked seeing how Nathaniel slowly brought Todd out of his shell and into his heart. I found myslef smiling and saying "aww" numerous times. There's no conflict, so if you're in the mood for a short, feel-good book, this is the one to read.
This was really a sweet story. Wish it would have been longer:-) I guess you could say it was "short and sweet":-)

This was a fast-paced story with people who seemed totally real. I really enjoyed it.
