If I could give MORE than FIVE stars I would!!! Move over Cord, you have to share your spot in my heart/fantasies with Chase =)
I was soo into the story and chemistry between Chase and Ava I could not put it down, I finished around 3:30 AM...Cowgirl Up And Ride has always be my favorite, but Chasin' Eight just shot right there next to it, maybe even a little ahead of it. So, yet another McKay cowboy romance by Lorelei James. This time we get Chase and Ava's story. I have to say I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. Because honestly I was pretty disappointed (and some times even disgusted) by some of the previous books in this series. But for some reason I still continue to read them. This book actually changed how I feel about Lorelei James. I love a good romance, I appreciate a good erotic romance, but I hate when someone writes 200 pages of pur...more
5 BIG BULL RIDIN' STARS!! Loved it!!! This one took a little longer to heat up, but it was worth the wait. The fact that Chase and Ava connected emotionally first, was a big plus. Then when they got to the physical relationship it had such a greater impact. The author took you on the journey with them and what a trip it was. As Chase and Ava revealed themselves to each other, your connection to them as a reader was more intense. I enjoyed their heartfelt conversations, flirtatious dialogue, a to...more

One thing for damn sure, the sex scenes in all LJ's books were never boring and never ever lacking in creativity. And Ava and Chase's loving were pretty phenomenal!
That said, I just wanna express how much I enjoyed myself reading this book.
☑ Ava was a very wicked glamour girl with lots of dirty thoughts in her head.
☑ Chase was a bull rider bad boy trying to reform but had a very hard time doing that with Ava prancing around.
☑ The platonic relationship they had going was very sweet if somewhat...more

When I finished the book, I shook my Kindle. There had to be more. I was enjoying the story too much for it to end.
This is a wonderful story about two people who fall in love. Duh, right? Well, I read a lot of romance and the characters are often two dimensional, stereotypes or just plain boring. Both Chase and Ava have real issues. They talk to each other and share their thoughts with each other. Niether character is boring. They both grow and change because the story drives the changes.

Chasin' Eight is the eleventh of the much coveted Rough Riders series and tells the story of Chase Mckay and Ava Cooper.
The book unwraps by showing Chase Mckay in a difficult spot where he is suspended indefinitely from the PBR tour to do some thinking and practicing over his love life and his career as a bull rider. It features him as a rodeo superstar, who is a notorious playboy, and spends his day only in his two favorite activities namely rodeo...more

I LOVED this book. One of Lorelei's best books in the series. I loved that she took the time for Chase and Ava to become friends and then lovers. I felt that I really got to know them and loved the book even more for that. I was not sure how I felt about Gavin, but I know Lorelei has a plan and I am sure I will love it in the end. Only this I wish for more in the this book was more McKay's. I loved that I got just Chase and Ava, but I did miss the kids and the many other McKay family memers. I h...more
Eleventh in the Rough Riders erotic romance series complete with cowboys in Sundance, Wyoming. The couple focus is on Chase McKay and Ava Dumond Cooper.
I really wanted to go with a "3" for all the errors in this, but I have to appreciate the message that James promotes in this.

This book had it all! Romance, friendship, lust and love...plus some good bromance and sincere character development!
I loved Chase and his struggles along the road. He used sex as his coping mechanism and also used sex to avoid personal contact with fellow riders, friends and family. His dysfunction and frustrations made him complacent and his riding began to deteriorate....enter Ava.

I have a wicked headache and an irritating sore throat. Clearly, I am on board the train to Sickly, but I can't seem to find somewhere to get off. It distresses me.
In any case, I really enjoyed Chasin' Eight. It was full of the hot steamy action James is known for, but it also had a great story. I was disappointed when it ended. I've read most, if not all, of the other Rough Rider books, but Chasin' Eight stands alone quite well.

Lorelei James' cowboys are the sexiest I've ever read so far. Chase McKay isn't any different than all the other cowboys from the McKay family.
The reason I loved Chase was because he was different than the other McKay cowboys. He's not impossibly tall, he's just 5'10, and it's obvious that at times it bothers him a little. Also I felt that the person he was at the ending of the book was much more mature than the one he was at the beginning of the book. So...more

In the mood for some zesty cowboy love? Then it’s time to read Lorelei James. Chasin’ Eight, book eleven in the Rough Riders Series, provides everything a reader needs and more: an alpha hero, a feisty heroine, and enough sexual tension to keep you turning the pages.
Chase is an absolute delight. After screwing things up, he’s taking a break and has sworn off women for a month. Too bad he’s about to meet Ava, an out of work actress wh...more

OMG . . . so much going on in this novel. It certainly seems fairly bland at first and the initial encounters between Chase and Ava very non-specific. But the aspect of this story that hooked me was that these two "spoiled brats" (really) found that they needed a friend. Life had finally caved in on them both--altogether different situations, but both had found that their lives were a mess. Now they really needed a friend, something neither of them could remember having. Chase's vow to swear off...more
Dammit! I went and did it again! I read this latest addition to Lorelei James’ Rough Riders series too fast. Way, way too fast. I wanted to make it last, but since it hasn’t happened so far, I have a feeling it will never happen whenever I read about those McKay boys.
I always mention the emotion that Ms. James writes in her books, it’s what draws me back each time to read her next, along with her charming and intriguing characters. Well, and the lovin’ too. :) While I’ve chuckled here and there...more

I really liked this book. Found it a little different from the others in the series and I liked that. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I really enjoyed the slow build of this couple as they got to know each other but still flirted like crazy. When they finally got to their hot lovin', it seemed like it was the right place for it to start given their troublesome personal histories.
I also really liked that Chase was not the physical perfection that was written for the other males in this serie...more

I've read everything of Lorelei James and have to say that you can really see her grow as a writer from book to book. This Rough Riders installment is different in that it reads like a complete, fully-formed novel. Now, all her books have been great: she has a knack for witty, just plain real dialog that comes off so natural and effortless. And you can't help but love the McKay men because despite all the raunchiness that makes you drool, they're fun-loving family men. I guess that's what we all...more
I did like this book quite a bit. It's not at the top of my McKay family faves, but it's not at the bottom either.
Chase and Ava are a fun couple when they're just relaxing and having fun together. Their chemistry is undeniable and they hit it off immediately. Unfortunately, all this perfect-togetherness makes the middle of the book a little boring. If they'd been chased by paparazzi or something. Some kind of tension going on, it wouldn't have bogged down.
But that was a minor quibble. I found it...more

Chasin' Eight by Lorelei James is the 11th book in her Rough Riders series. The Rough Riders series is one of my favorite western romances not only because sensual material is plentiful in the stories but because Ms. James creates characters whom with their faults and all you still manage to fall in love with at the end of the day.

I've been waiting to read Chase McKay’s story since he was first introduced in the Rough Riders series. He’s a stud. He has that bad boy, playboy thing going for him. I can't help but notice that the cover, while hot, was quite inaccurate, but for aesthetic purposes, it would do.
This was just an OK book to me, both characters have a lot of similarities. Before I start, the live porn in the beginning was quite hot if I may add, and if Ms James would write more of F/F then I'm all for it.

I thought Colt and India's book was the best but Chase and Ava have them bet. Chase turns out to be the most different of the long, talln and handsome Mckay's and that's because he's the shortest. So he makes up for his height by being the worst womanzier on the pro rodeo circuit. I swear I had Garth Brooks' "Rodeo" running through my head the entire time I read this book. Chase is really made to re-evaluate himself and his relationship to his family; and for once, a hero who doesn't fight falli...more
(August) 4.5* I really liked this one. The last couple of McKay/West books have been a bit dull, but this one was different. Ava and Chase really developed a friendship before the nookie began. At first I did't like Ava, as she was plotting to get Chase to break his celebacy vow. But that changed and she seemed to respect it - for a while, anyway! I found the bullriding info interesting (and I watched an episode of Necessary Roughness in the middle of reading this that was about a bullrider so I...more
What can I say about this gem of a book?
From the first page to the last sentence, the book had me hooked. I fell completly in love with both Ava and Chase! I was so wrapped up in their story that I found it hard to tear myself away!

Oh my, well considering we started the series out at the rodeo it was rather comforting to head back there for Chase's story. Finally, he decides to have a try at maturity and he makes it work this time.
