Lucy was a writer. She worked with words. She filled each of her books with a hundred thousand of them. But only two words cam to mind. Holy Crap! Not eloquent but fitting.

When I went to read this one I saw that my Kindle was at 100% so I had read it already. It did sound a bit familiar but hey, better to re-read a good book than to read a mediocre new book? Right.

She pulled out a pair of jeans and a woman’s marathon T-shirt from the time she’d signed up to run but had accicentally on purpose

I can't particularly think of much good to say about this book. I wouldn't say it was downright horribly bad...well, maybe not. It was a waste of $7, though.

The plot isn't exactly original - A serial killer meeting victims online. I've read a number of books with a similar theme. Which isn't a bad thing, necessarily, if the author can make their work stand-out from the rest, but for this book, there was nothing to this storyline to separate it from anything else out there. It was all pretty basi...more

4 Stars

Consistently Rachel Gibson. Another enjoyable read.

Happy Reading!
Six years after I first read this, my star rating is still a 3-star meh. In fact, I couldn't even be bothered to get halfway because this time round, it did sound like chick lit. This time I couldn't find anything to enjoy because there was nothing to attract me to either MC - the heroine was bland and so was the hero and six years after the book was released, the online dating plot device is so old that the only thing that could have saved the story was if the MCs were...more

HAHA! Sex, Lies, and Online Dating definitely put a smile on my face this Saturday! Just goes to show that honesty is the best policy!

Lucy is a murder mystery writer and she uses online dating programs to go on "dates" to do research for her books. Basically, she takes down mental notes on the people and then she "kills them off"... In her book of course! But she doesn't realize that some crazy woman is using her books as an instruction manual and committing real crimes!

Now Quinn is a cop who...more
I will always feel the loss of her, but that doesn’t mean I have to stand in one place and feel the pain of it every day. For the rest of my life.

I want to be with you. I like being with you. When I’m not with you, I’m thinking about you. No one else. Just you.

I wanted you more than I can ever remember wanting anything in my life.

Fairly standard fare. Mystery writer Lucy Rothschild is dating men found on the internet to come up with characters for her book character to kill. Detective Quinn McIntyre is dating women found online to find the one killing people. He thinks she did it. She suddenly thinks he's dreamy. Can they get over the lies? Can they catch the real killer? Can they keep their hands of each other? Well it is a romance novel, what do you think?

Light and fun overall. Likable characters and a few funny moment...more
An easy to read book about a love story I would like to happen in real life. Well, maybe I don't want to share the experience of the heroine Lucy but I like the idea of those love storys. And who wouldn't want a hot police officer at your service?

Rachel Gibson has a very detailed style of writing. She does not only give things a name but she point out the color and shape. I am aware that it isn't everybodys taste but I enjoyed it.
The crime plot is predictable and wouldn't get chosen for the next...more
Once again Ms. Gibson does not disappoint me.

Lucy is posing as a nurse and is online dating to research her next book “Dead.com”. She has gone out several times with guys who call themselves “luvstick” and “bigdaddy182” and she has about had enough. Her last date is with “hardluvnman”, but from the beginning this date is different, this one is HOT! Quinn is an undercover cop, and Lucy is a prime suspect in a murder investigation. All three victims were male who were on the online dating circ...more
I'm thinking that maybe Sex, Lies, and Online Dating should receive even less than 3 stars, but after reading two previous Gibson books that I absolutely adored (they were my first of hers and total hits: It Must Be Love and See Jane Score) I'm reluctant to give a worse rating.

The writing was good I guess, though Gibson sometimes cuts up her sentences very oddly and one feels like a period was put in one place when it should have been a few words earlier or later. On the plus side, Lucy's female...more

Lucy is a writer working on her new novel; she is doing online dating strictly for research purposes. She has meet all kinds of men, none of which she really wants to get to know better. Until she meets Quinn on a coffee date, she thinks he might me worth seeing again. Quinn is wants to see Lucy again too, only problem, he is doing online dating because someone is killing men. The same men that Lucy has been going on dates with, so he is the cop who goes undercover to find out who is killing the...more

This is the first book in Gibson series about 4 friends who are successful writers in different genres and while I enjoyed her funny lines, fast paced writing style and nice characters I couldn't overcome the fact that the plot was a bit of a letdown for me.

Lucy is a writer. She writes thrillers and is currently researching a new story about a killer who chooses his victims online so she sets up a few dates through an online dating site. Quinn is a police officer investigating a series of crimes...more
Lucy is a mystery writer whose latest book (unpublished) just happens to mirror the actions of a serial killer who currently has three kills under her belt. Detective Quinn McIntyre goes undercover to catch the killer, suspected of finding victims via online dating sites.

Lucy, for her research is also online, setting up dates. She and Quinn inevitably meet. For both it is attraction as first sight. For Lucy she wonders why this hunky guy is trolling online for dates. For Quinn, he is sure, much...more

Quinn McIntyre "hardluvnman" detective is investigating a serial killer that dates her victims from the internet; Suddenly Lucy fits the profile of the "Breathless" serial killer and becomes the prime suspect of the investigation...Quinn is a broken heart man that has decided that love is not made for him after having a broken hard from his ex-girlfriend Amanda a...more
I love this book! This was my first Rachel Gibson and it's my fav of hers. When looking for some comfort I decided to re-read this for about the billionth time and I can't believe I had forgotten just how funny it was! At the start it's got a kind film noir feel about it, which is really unusual and quite captivating.

I love when a couple meet through unusual circumstances and they don't come much more unusual than this. I love the characters, the supporting characters, the suspense, the humour,...more
The book had some potential. The title was intriguing, so - could be - the plot, but unfortunately, it totally failed both at suspence and at romance. The language was bland, the romance was sudden and without any reasons to it (sorry, I'm not really into love at first sight "just because", but some writers just manage to pull it off - this was not the case however), as for the suspense... There just wasn't much of it. Which is a real shame, because the idea - if not new - still was quite good.

At least 3.5, prob even 3.75 stars. Reread this lovely piece of fluff to get away from my brain for awhile. Gibson is one of my go to's, although this is not my favorite in the quartet. I did find myself enjoying this book more than I remembered and wondering why it wasn't in my reread rotation more often.
I found this book very entertaining and easy to read. A typical Rachel Gibson book. On top of the romance, there was a murder mystery which was a nice bonus.

She isn't exactly an auto-buy author but when I pick up one of her books now and again, I always enjoy spending time in her fictional world.
Author has weird fixation on detailing characters' sunglasses wearing habits.

Cute and very silly. Slightly predictable yet still fun to read.

Lucy is a writer doing research for her latest novel by doing some online dating. Quinn is a cop under cover trying to catch a serial killer who meets her victims via the internet. They meet for a date, both hiding who they really are both knowing the other is hiding something.=

This is my very first Rachel Gibson, and certainly not the last!
I love her writing style. So much.

I was kinda slow at first. Bringing this book wherever I go, but never read it. Maybe it had been three weeks in my bag without I ever touched it. But once I focused reading, I just couldn't put it down. I even read one-quarter of the book in the middle of a boring meeting ;D

I wanted a light, fun read after reading several "heavier" novels and I wasn't disappointed. Breathless is a female serial killer who leaves no clues behind. The only thing the police know is that all her victims are connected through online dating services. Lucy is a mystery fiction author and her newest book requires research for her newest plot which just happens to be about a female serial killer. For her research she decides to meet men from online dating services in order to flesh out her...more

Rachel was born in Boise, Idaho, USA. Her father worked for a telephone company, and her mother was a house wife. Idaho has the largest population of Basques outside of the Basque lands of Spain. She grew up with kids with last names like Uberuaga, Berriochoa, and Egisquiza, but years later she discovered the rest of the country didn't really know much about the Basque culture or history.
