Before reading Enticed I was a little bit nervous (okay A LOT nervous) as I had mixed feelings about Embraced the first book in the series. But I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this installment. There were some big improvements made that were desperately need.

Entice is secondary novel is a series that exceeded the first. Embrace was enjoyable but just not that memorable. However Entice was full of action, frustration, potential romance and just exciting. I honestly couldn't put the book down and was sometimes late for work because I lost track of time reading it at breakfast! My liking towards Violet Eden has solidified in Entice. Entice is secondary novel is a series that exceeded the first. Embrace was enjoyable but just not that memorable. However Entice was full of action, frustration, potential romance and just exciting. I honestly couldn't put the book down and was sometimes late for work because I lost track of time reading it at breakfast! My liking towards Violet Eden has solidified in Entice. I really liked how independent she is, something you don't usually see in paranormal YA novels. I was also glad that this time she learnt from her previous mistakes and didn't repeat them. She held her ground, she was focused and even if she was swayed a bit, she knew where she belonged in the end.

The end of Embrace was shocking, we find out that Pheonix has somehow embraced his evil side and is now out to get her. Boy am I glad Pheonix is out of the way. I hated how Violet was sidetracked by him and caused so much hurt to her true love, Linc. Even if he still didn't know it yet. However Entice doesn't focus on the romance, but it focuses on finding the scriptures, on finding out who has betrayed the Grigoris and also on Violet learning more about her powers and how big of a part she will have to play for the Grigoris.

The secondary characters in Entice were all so likable! Spence, the guy who I thought was going to create yet another love triangle, only ended up being her awesome kick-butt sidekick thank god. He had me cracking up so much when he teamed up with Violet. We also have Sal, Steph's love interest and then Zoe. I honestly think the introduction of these trio made the book lighter and a bit less dark for the readers. Griffin was as great as always and Magda was as annoying as hell. I loved how Stephanie, who is Vi's none paranormal best friend, is in on everything. Vi doesn't have to keep this huge secret from her and Steph is always 100% in on what Vi is doing and most of the time actually joins in on meetings and watches their practices. Thank god there is no negligent protagonist and a whiny best friend here!

Entice is a great, and better, follow up to Embrace and I now have high hopes for Emblaze. i know many readers have gotten bored of angel novels, but I believe if you stick to the end of Embrace and pick up Entice, you will fall in love with this series! (less)

Amazing!! This was even better than the first book - tying in so much world history to this fantasy genre without forcing religion on the readers just adds a whole new layer to the story and depth of emotions in the writing. Love the new characters, although the Violet/Lincoln situation is absolute heartbreaking torture! Please let's have some (positive) resolution come October's book three - can I really wait that long?!

There is something about these books that completely hooks me. I suppose the main reason is the love between Violet and Lincoln. They Cannot be together but how can you give up a love so strong. I love the way the author makes you love, hate, or sympathize with the characters she wants you to. I don't like Violet being so powerful yet so uneducated on what her true abilities are. I'd give it 2 1/2 stars. I've decided that Violet functions like a Goofus ( like in Goofus and Gallant from HiLights kids' mag?) for teens. She does and thinks stupid things, is hopelessly self-centered, lacks insight until she's hit over the head with it, poor impulse control, lack of planning or thought about how her actions impact the future, etc. I can see teens everywhere reading this book and saying, " Even I know that's stupid to do!" or whatever. OK as far as the book itself goes I liked Entice a lot the story and the newly introduced character were all well written and I love the fantasy world of the Grigori (I can't remember if that's how it was spelled so I apologize if i'm wrong.) In Embrace I loved Phoenix and the complexity of his character, I have always had a thing for the dark hero, they're more fun and more relate-able then the straight laced good guy hero which only exist in books. Lets be honest we all have a little mean in us. But I could tell from the beginning that Linc and Violet were going to be together because the author has a very clear love for Lincoln (And even though I know they're not real characters why did you have to play with Phoenix like that Ms. Shirvington? Having Violet give her virginity to him and making him think he had a chance with her was just mean) And then after everything in the first book where he was always there for Violet when she need him, healed her when Linc couldn't and took care of her when no one else was there to do it, why did you have to go and turn him into WHAT EVER THE FREAK HE BECAME IN THE SECOND BOOK!!!

Grrrr he was an ass and it made no sense to me why!! I just couldn't see the Phoenix from the first book reopening Violets stomach wound or trying to kill her and manipulating her the way he did in the second book even after she broke his heart. I know he did manipulate her in the first book a little but in the end you could see that he was genuinely hurt and that he cared about Vi, and this was such a drastic jump even after someone breaks your heart a part of you still cares about them. Also he was barely in the book and I missed him and Violets interactions. But all of this might just be my Phoenix love which is slowly dying

And then to top it all off I kept getting pissed at Linc because of his all over the place attitude about Violet, I mean seriously pick a side either fight for her or don't, don't lead her on and then throw up your guard. Even I was getting a little mental whiplash from the constant back and forth. And if Linc and Vi are soul mates then you would think that Linc would be there for her a bit more and be more understanding about what she's feeling and has felt considering her relationship with him and not keep throwing her past mistakes in her face and running to Magda with his problems and ignoring her. I get it he's hurt rightfully so, but they are half human and humans make mistake, use a little of your angel ness and forgive her I mean your competition is now trying to kill her so I would say that Linc no longer has anything to worry about in that department.

So with all this said in my honest advice I believe that Violet should just start over with guys, the ones she is currently involved with have just a little to much baggage. (less)

The writing, to me, seemed very good. I did find it to be too simple a few times. I don't think I would've noticed that if it hadn't bothered me in the first book. It wasn't too bad in this book. Besides that I really enjoyed the writing. It flowed, gave me an insight on the characters/ setting, and was an overall success.

After everything that happened, Violet's life is finally beginning to settle. As much as it can for a human who's part angel anyway. She is getting used to her angelic status and even meeting people her age in the same situation as her. They're having fun together all while saving the world. Their fun is interrupted when Phoenix shows up. He needs something and needs Violet and her friends help to get it. To add to the drama, Lincoln is in cahoots with Magda doing something secret. Something that may be endangering his life.

The story was fast-paced and filled to the brim with action. I was never bored. At all. The only problem with the plot was that there almost seemed to be too much going on. Moments that should've been important weren't a bi deal. The cliffhanger at the end of the story didn't shock me too much because there was a couple cliffhangers (big moments) throughout the story. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing. After all, it's hard for a story to have too much action.

Violet is a strong person. She went through a lot with her mom's death, dad's distant attitude, and betrayal of a major person in her life: Phoenix. But she became a stronger person because of it. She wasn't afraid to jump into battle or put her life at stake for others. Phoenix's presence (literally) wasn't very strong. He only showed up in the book a few brief times and appeared evil for most of it. He never really got to tell his side of the story. Hopefully he will in the next book. There was a lot more Lincoln in this book. You get to know him better despite his secret. I ended up realizing what a good person he was. I just wish he would stop being so stubborn about his relationship with Violet. Then there was Violet's best friend. Steph is a very likeable character because she was supportive of Violet but not annoying about it. Finally, there was the new Grigori in town: Zoe, Salvatore, and Spence. I really liked Spence. He became close with Violet and was a good friend. He was a bit of a troublemaker, but that only made the story better.

Besides the action there was also quite a bit of drama. With three new Grigori in town it was bound to happen. Added to that is the reappearance of an old (and evil) character. Lincoln and Violet are still trying to work through the risks of their relationship while dealing with secrets and the jealousy of other people. There was a ton of stuff happening. I loved it.

In conclusion I found Enticed to be a very enticing book (yes, I went there). The plot was just so amazing. I really want to see more of Violet and finds out what happens next. With any luck there will be more of Phoenix in the next book so I can find out what's going on there. Seriously people I need the next book. Anyway, I would recommend this book to fans of paranormal/ action-packed stories or angel stories. This book is begging to be read. (less)

I found Violet whinny and fatiguing. I just wanted her to get a backbone and say what she wanted and what she needed. If she would tell them what Phoenix was doing to her or how she was feeling about Lincoln, maybe a lot of her anxiety would go away. There's something to be said for being a straight shooter and I felt like Violet was that in the first book. When she was pissed she told Lincoln and/or Phoenix how she was feeling. She even asked Phoenix to help her with her emotions. She was straight about how she felt and what she wanted, no matter how wrong or right it was.

I felt like Lincoln was more of a teenager than a man. His emotional response to seeing Violet kiss Spence was dumb to me. Dropping his glass and running out. Then when he realizes she was manipulated by Phoenix, he can barely keep his hands off of her. And there was no real resolution to that either. I'm sure it will come later, but it's dragging for me. I need to know what their choices are and if they will be like Rudyard and Nyla were.

Why no one could figure out that Magda was the traitor in Violet's dreams is beyond me. It seems Violet paid very little attention to what her dreams were telling her. She didn't even go to Griffen or Linc to talk them out to get clarity. There were just a lot of missed opportunities to me. And why did they let Magda go? She knows too much about them and about their plans. Just dumb to me.

Also Jude's last minute arrival into the story was kinda weird to me as well. It was just strange to me. He was sort of dropped in in my opinion.

The action was also lacking compared to the first book in my opinion. I just liked the first book so much better. (less)

I read Jessica Shirvington's Embrace about a week ago and was so happy to have waited this long to read it because I had Entice sitting on my shelf just waiting for me to grab it and pick up where the action left off. And does it ever, the second instalment in The Violet Eden Chapters is chalk full of hot romance and intense action at a pitch perfect pace. Not only is this novel graced with perfect timing, but it also stands out for the unique angel lore that is beautifully interspersed in the pages.

We definitely got our fair share of action in the previous novel in the series but in this follow up we get to see Vi once she has embraced and is officially an active Grigori. I love Vi's determination and her independence, it really shines through in this novel (even though it gets her into trouble a few times as well.) While she does come across as pretty thick headed at times, she is easily relateable in her constant rollercoaster of emotions. Always there to stir up her emotions is her Grigori partner, Lincoln. Let me just say that Linc is as swoon-worthy as ever, if not even more-so in this one. I love him so much! His constant need to protect Vi but also his ability to step back when he needs to is spot on for a love interest. I love how he is always there for her but fully prepared to let her deal with things on her own if she asks, and she definitely has a lot to deal with as the plot unfolds.

The novel starts off with a bang and there is constantly a mission, filled with action, and new threads to the story being excellently weaved into the plot. We have the grigori and the exiles in a race to be the first to discover the ancient scriptures mentioned at the tail end of Embrace and the path to discovery is filled with forks in the road. Between Onyx feeding them tiny hints of information and a traitor in their midst the grigori have a lot of hurdles to jump over to get to the truth. Also, Violet's past is coming back to haunt her in the form of Phoenix who is back once again and it leading the exiles in their hunt.

I had worried that with the return of Phoenix we would have to suffer through the return of the love triangle, but that wasn't the case at all. The romance is definitely hot and heavy between Vi and Linc and while there is memories of her feelings for Phoenix, it is left at just that, memories. The unique take on angel lore really comes into play in the romance aspect of the novel as we meet Nyla and Rudyard who are grigori partners but are also together in a romantic way as well. But grigori partners can't be together in that way, right? Well a whole new world is opened up here and I loved watching it unfold.

This series is full of likeable characters and action to keep you flipping the pages. Upon finishing up Entice I realized that my love for angel books must be officially solidified. When action, fantastic characters and a unique take on the subject are all present there is a story that I am easily lost in. Those are elements that are strong and at the forefront of Shirvington's novels so I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good read.(less)

I have mixed feelings about this book. For the first book, I enjoyed the intriguing angelic world and liked Violet as a character, but I didn't really liked the way the romance played out.

In this book the adventure/action side of things was great, and I like the idea of the scriptures. Meeting the pair of soulmates, and the rollercoaster that sent them on was also interesting. And of course, the chemistry between Licoln and Violet was amazing.

In this highly anticipated sequel to Entice, Violet jumps head first into her Grigori training as she attempts to juggle her Angel abilities with her desperate need to be a normal teenager. Still struggling with her relationship with Linc (her friend, trainer and Grigori partner) her inner turmoil is only compounded by the reappearance of Phoenix. After reading Embrace (Book 1) I was instantly reeled in and I knew I had to get my hands on Entice! Entice lived up to my expectations and then more. Funny, Heart Wrenching at times, Action Packed. I absolutely love how Shirvington writes.

Since day one, I root for Lincoln. I like his characteristics--mellow, understanding, thoughtful, loving, and most of all protective to his loved ones ( a real Guardian Angel who protects humanity). O_o

I absolutely love this series. Both of the books have been absolutely brilliant. There's so much depth to them. So many weaved layers and secrets and yet everything fits together so perfectly in the grand scheme. Entice was everything I could have asked for in this dark and twisted angel story. Violet thought Phoenix leaving would help her world tip back on balance. But, nothing is ever in balance for Violet. Everyone seems to be hiding things, including Linc. Oh and not to mention new Grigori are coming to help plus the Exiles they start to come across all tend to be linked somehow. Violet isn't one to go down without a fight thought. She'll fight for the one she loves and her people... no matter the cost for her.

I just love all these characters so much. With our protagonist Violet, I just get her. Her twistedness, her emotions, her hurt, her love, her confusion, her amazing abilities. She's so easy to fall in love with as the voice of the story. Then there's her best friend Steph and her leader Griffin, who are two characters that do no wrong in my book. Also with the old characters Magda returns as well... and basically I want to set her on fire and then stomp on the ashes. Just saying. But other than that, with the old characters we love there are new ones too. Spence especially stole the show for me. I loved his slight cockiness, his charisma, his uncanny ability to laugh and ease tension. I'm hoping to see a lot more of him in the future.

Then there's Lincoln. Oh Lincoln. I am basically in love with you. He is sexy, and dresses good, so protective and athletic. Linc is just the perfect guy and his heart always tries to be in the right place. I want Violet and him to have their happy ending so badly. These two can never seem to catch a break, and they so deserve happiness.

The ending was all kinds of an emotional roller coaster. It's one of those endings where you hope and hope but then are like "nah it won't work out that way"... Then it does and it's like hallelujah finally! Yet the ending is more than just a villain. There's war, conflicts, heartbreak, betrayal, and unbelievable truths revealed. I love this series so hard and cannot WAIT to read the next book.(less)

I was not sure about this book due to my feelings regarding the first in the series, but I went ahead and picked it up. I was pleasantly surprised. The writing and story in the second Violet Eden series was much better than the first, with more depth of the characters.

Wow! This was dope - both awesome and intoxicating.
For a moment, it all seemed like non-fiction, like reading some angel-o-encyclopedia. OhMySweetGoodness! Every piece of information seemed so real, it never felt like reading a fiction paranormal novel. I'm still unable to form coherent sentences due to the elation after reading it.

I am honestly not a huge fan of angel books and that whole genre. But I am however a huge fan of this series by Jessica Shirvington. She did such an amazing job writting this series it was impossible not to become a fan! Like everyone else, I was dying for the next book. And as always, I was quite nervous that I wouldn't like it as much as the first book. For me the follow up is never as good. I blame it on the terrible two's!

This is a series that grabs you by the shirt collar and refuses to let you go, even after you have finished the last page. It's action packed and has you at the edge of your seat, but more importantly (in my opinion) is it pulls you in emotionally as you can feel Violets angst flow off the pages. It's exciting to read, but it's also emotionally draining.

Violet has had a lot thrown at her and at seventeen, I'm not sure if I could even deal with a fraction of what she has. She's still reeling from the events that forced her hand into becoming a Grigori. She's not regretting becoming Grigori, because she could never regret saving Lincoln, but it was the lost of faith and trust in someone she so freely gave herself to that she has a hard time with. Who could blame her. Phoenix, despite what happened, had appeared to truly love her, and to find he played with her emotions to tipped the outcome in his favor hurts her still. But she can't deny still being drawn to him, despite what he's done.

And then there's Lincoln. He does a fair job of messing with her head as well with his constant flip flopping on his stance with regards to their relationship. While he doesn't come out and say it, he holds Phoenix against her, even though he was the one that kept pushing her away saying they couldn't have a relationship. But while things looked like they might bet getting to a good place for both Violet and Lincoln, the events towards the end of Entice make me wonder if the walls that Lincoln loves to build when it comes to Violet are going to go up again.

Despite the emotional roller coaster Violet seems to be on endlessly, she does grow quite a bit in Entice. She's starting to develop leadership qualities that could only make this band of Grigori stronger as they begin to understand the potential evil Phoenix is willing to release. She may still seem naive in many things, she's also starting to see the bigger picture and once she fully understands her gifts, the one who can stop what's happening.

I love this series. Jessica Shirvington has taken the angel story and put her own unique twist on it, with characters who you will love to hate (Phoenix) while breaking your heart at almost every turn with others. Quite frankly, it is the best YA series I have read in 2012. I'm having severe separation anxiety knowing we won't get book 3 until next March (yes...I was already scouring sites trying to find the Australian version of the next 2 books because I can't wait). I absolutely adored the first book in this series so I was extremely excited to dive into Entice. Entice continues the story of Violet Eden, a girl who had recently found out that she is part angel (Grigori). Her destiny is to work along side her partner, Lincoln, to fight against fallen angels of light and dark.

Jessica Shirvington wrote another amazing book! Entice was better than Embrace so I'm hoping that means that her next books will just keep getting better and better.

Entice picks up where we left off in the previous book with Violet and Lincoln working side by side. We meet new friends and old enemies. Onyx, now human makes a big comeback, and with his new identity, still takes part in the Grigori-Exiles world in a new way. Suprisingly him and a new character Dapper, keep making me laugh.
