"I’m glad," she said softly. "I wouldn’t want you to be hurt."

I don’t want to say too much about this one as you are better off just reading it blind.

I loved it.

“A lie is an affront to the soul, as well as an insult to the intelligence of the person to whom one lies.”

A lot of my friends do not read Historicals. Their loss is all I can say.

Girls, there are sexy scenes in Historicals too….

“What are you looking at?" Jordan demanded finally, watching her.

"A dragon." When he looked bewildered

If I had to pick one author in the romance genre, who is my all time favorite, it would be Judith McNaught. I love her writing style. I love her characters. I love her dramatic, old school plots. She is the one who got me hooked on romance and as we all know, we can never forget our first love. Her books are extremely special to me.

This is my third...or maybe fourth time reading this and I still loved the heck out of it. Usually, I r

When I read Judith McNaught I feel like I’m transferred to some other dimension. So you have this huge 500 pages long book with pitiful title and a truly awful cover and yet I very much think about when it's the right time to start reading it, because her books consummate my time completely. I sincerely cannot think about anything else. It’s drastic and extreme and I tell myself that during my weekends when I have enough time to go for a walk or for a swim because the sea is still very warm or t ...more

descriptionI adored Jordan Townsend and Alexandra Lawrence. Something Wonderful was a perfect blend of angst and romance. It is truly a beautiful love story. I loved it!

4.6 Stars - Old quality in the very best romantic HR style. - A sparkling sweet and gripping emotional fairy tale

Something Wonderful is one of Judith McNaught's older, so beloved, grand historical romances. This one, her first #1 New York Times bestseller, is from 1988. ~ Loved and high raited by all my HR reading GR friends.
"Regarded as one of the most beloved writers of all time in popular fiction, Judith McNaught is the author of thirteen novels with more

AAAGGGGGHHH. I just never learn. Re-reading these books has been like re-reading "The Catcher in the Rye": they're just not the same after adolescence. Hero mistakes ugly duckling for a boy (with the requisite "he was annoyed with himself for his strange attraction to the young male. Had he become so jaded that he was turning to boys?" moment, because, as we all know, being a "rake" leads to pedophilia.) and has to marry her. He gets knocked on the head and disappears, everyone thinks he's dead, ...more

Fantastic book!. I even loved it more with my re-read!. The characters are to die for. And it's been way to long that l loved, admired the heroine for her way of thinking. How she's innocent, and potent at the same time. As for the writing, let's just say McNaught is remarkable with her words. Truly captivating.....

Thank you for the wonderful buddy read my dear Supreet.. I had blast. Muah!

Why oh why have I not read more historical romance novels. Being only my second HR Something Wonderful was just that, something wonderful.

This story had me captivated right from the beginning. I quickly found myself submerged into the world of the characters and experiencing something different.

I truly loved Jordan and Alexandra’s story. I guess you could say it was love at first sight for Alexandra. It may have been because she was naïve but I would like to believe it was because her heart wa

The memorable parts ~

"You lost the fish!"
"That was not a fish," Jordan retorted, looking up at her. "That was a whale with large teeth."
"Only because it got away," she retorted, laughing.
Her laughter was as infectious as her enthusiasm, and Jordan couldn't stop himself from grinning even though he tried to sound stern. "Kindly stop belittling my whale and let's open those baskets. I'm starved."

...Goaded by her insinuation that he possessed no imagination, Jordan narrowed his eyes and stared hard

Let me just start out by saying that no book has had a more appropriate title. And I must add that every single Judith McNaught book that I’ve read could have been titled the same.

I absolutely loved this! These two characters, Jordan Townsend and Alexandra Lawrence are the perfect blending of angst and love. And the old adage that opposites attract could not be represented in a better way.

I read almost all of Judith McNaught's novels but "Something Wonderful" is definitely my favorite. I've read this book for, like, 10 times and every time I read it, it always feels like it's my first time. I totally fell in love with the story and the characters.

There's this one scene when Alexandra got shot and Jordan thought she would die, the words Jordan uttered just give me pinches in my heart every time. I'm not a cry-baby but I was picturing this scene in my head, and I felt a lump in thr

Every once in a while, a 5-star book comes along that makes me want to go through all my other 5-star ratings and demote them, because they weren't as perfect, as beautiful, as heart-warming as this one. Something Wonderful is one such story, and I'm so glad I own a physical copy of it because I'm sure I'll be rereading it for many years to come.

Love Jordan and Alex, they definitely MFEO ^0^

Love Jordan, even though earlier in the story I found him so very exasperating.. A rake, scoundrel, womanizer, but oh, so very irresistible!! LOL But at the end he proves that he is a man who could truly appreciate his wife, and able to love her the way she deserves to be loved..

Love Alex, although at the beginning a bit naive and childish (well, actually she IS a child when she married her rake of a husband ^-^) in two years she proves that she cou

The second book I read from Judith Mcnaught. There's nothing I can say about this book. It's totally AMAZING. thanks to my friend for recommended Something Wonderful to me.

Alex is the most heroin I like. I'm so proud with her, depend on her naive, she can survive and not totally lost when she knew her husband's secret in London. By the way, she can manage it even though I can see her soul is suffering.

Jordan, likely other hero, not just being very handsome, he keeps his emotion deep in his dar

Isn't it funny how you feel for a romance novel when you first start reading romance and then three years later, when you read it again?

My Reactions:

First Time: sigh. He grovelled. Oh how he grovelled! So beautiful.

Three years Later: What on earth did I ever see in a sort of but not bipolar 'hero' who cannot make up his mind and thinks it is alright to sleep around and pull your wife's hair?

I absolutely love, love, LOVED this book. I don't know how many times I laughed out loud while reading it. While McNaught writes characters that all share similar traits, there was something about this heroine Alexandra that made her seem like a breath of fresh air.

This story is about Alexandra Lawrence who at the start of the book is a young and naive country girl who's been carrying the burden of her household for the past few years. One night on her way home from a neighbor's jousting/birthda

Okuduğum son iki kitabın hüsranından sonra, çektiğim kağıtta Judith'in adını gördüğümde yaşadığım keyfin kelimelerle tarifi olamaz hani... Acayip mutlu olmuştum.

Gelelim kitabımızın içeriğine :)

I've been in a na contemporary mood for over 3 years now, with the exception of the Outlander Saga. But sometimes, a girl needs a good old historical romance where the virgins ARE innocent. Until they' re not. I laughed, I cried bitterly and with catharsis and now I keep wondering why I don't trust the fine women of romance more. Don't get me wrong I love indie authors but it's like really good soul food. You can have all the Indian/Mexican/Asian mixed cousins but once in a while you simply need ...more

Some fifteen years or so ago I was this bored teenager who got tired of Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield's suburban drama and decided to peruse her aunt's historical romance collection for a change. That was when I picked up Almost Heaven, my first Judith McNaught book, and it was love at first sight read. To this day, that book remains a favourite, along with Something Wonderful. I re-read this on a whim when I woke up around three this morning and craved a light, fairytale-like read to lull me ...more

Judith McNaught is one author whose books I never failed to notice in any local bookstores on this side of the world. But I have never had the urge to select one to read as I had the impression that only 'old people' read her stuff.

That is, until I befriended Amanda on Goodreads. I noticed that she read a lot of McNaught's books and she recommended that I start with Something Wonderful. And she certainly picked a good one because I fell in love with the book immediately and thus became a fan of

*Warning* Do not pick up this book unless you have an entire day with no interruptions, to finish it.

Yes, it is that good. Yes, I totally ruined everything else I was supposed to be doing once I started reading this story. It is one that literally drives you nuts wondering what will happen next. The only way around it is to keep reading. Nothing else gets done well until it is finished!

The characters are believable, the angst is palatable, the romance aspect real, the story is gripping (although

Wow, every time I reread a McNaught historical (there are so few, sob!) I'm reminded of how well done they are...a heroine with powerful inner beauty, and both innocence and intelligence that shines, and a hero that transforms to recognize her true value and fall deeply in love. He may be hurtful, but love = no cheating once he is with heroine. Beautiful, complete, fulfilling romance.
