Perfect for fans (of all ages, not just children) of the subject, but does not transcend for universal appeal. My rating is my personal opinion, based on some of the pictures. Hyman is an amazing artist and one of my favorites, but even she can't make me 'enjoy' something I'v not a lot of interest in.

I will say, though, if it's at your library, you must get it. There are a couple of gems that make it worth the few minutes to find.
This book has that reckless artistic freedom from the 1970s that I love. As in Sesame Street from the 1970s versus the 1990s. The illustrations are amazing--these are the witches you imagine from childhood that scare you and fascinate you at the same time. The poems selected are excellent! A great book for early grade readers and, of course, for Halloween. (Possibly not appropriate for some politically correct classrooms).
Fun book! *cackles*
