One of the reasons I chose to read this book was because I knew a little bit about Winston Churchill from watching Hogan's heroes shows and I wanted to learn more about him. What most people don't know about Winston Churchill is that he wasn't the best behaved student in school he was actually one of the naughty boys. One of Winston Churchill's best qualities is that he never got embarrassed a really angry, he had a very good head for memorizing stuff once one apprise for memorizing 1200 lines o ...more

Thank you Goodreads for helping me find this book, and the biography series that it is part of. Winston Churchill was one of my first heroes, due in part to reading this book when I was eight or nine years old.

Omg! I can't believe I found this book! I read this when I was 8 years old and I can still remember reading about Churchill taking his geography test: "Draw a map of New Zealand". My mom had these books when she was a kid and she gave them to me to read.

This was a book for young people about Winston Churchill and his youth and his political struggles up to the days of WWII. Obviously short and edited for youth. But thourough understanding of how he developed to the person who managed England through a very rugged time.

I don't know if my kids retained much of it, but I loved reading it to them. I learned a lot about Winston Churchill from this "kids" book.
