Whereas Humphrey Bogart is always at the top of any list of the Entertainment Industry's most famous actors, very little is known about how he clawed his way to stardom from Broadway to Hollywood. This radical expansion of one of Darwin Porter's pioneering biographies begins with Bogart's origins as the child of wealthy (morphine-addicted) parents in New York City, then ex ...more

A vile book that is a great disappointment. Thus no stars. [ I am appending this to be 1 star as no stars do not figure in the tally. This book needd to be as lowly rated as possible! ]

Tabloid writing that takes liberties beyond anything needed and winds up telling little about most of Bogart's life beyond alleged Herculean sexual peccadilloes of any one and everyone in his life.

That's about it.

Don't waste your time if any, and I mean any,/u> random 50 pages seem to be all the same. It is

This is a fantastic work of fiction if that's what you read it as. If you read it as, basically, slash fiction written by an established author who has written some serious biographies and guides too, then it is incredibly entertaining. The idea of Humphrey Bogart not getting roles due to being "too feminine" for them is hilarious in itself, then you start getting into the fact that everyone in this book is gay or bisexual and constantly screwing (apart from Humphrey Bogart who views it all with ...more

In comparison to what I was expecting, it was terrible. Instead of talking about the career and opinions of this actor in regards to his films and his career, instead it goes into more detail about his sexual exploits and who he hooked up with. A terrible biography, especially for an actor that was rated #1 by the AFI.

Interesting stories. So if I am to believe this book, every single actor in Hollywood was gay and having sex with boys? Except Bogie, who was not gay but regularly kissed his male friend when younger, jerked off with him, and got a BJ from Truman Capote in the 50s??? He had many women, but sure sounds like some gay stuff to me.
