You know, I find this whole thing especially disgusting.
A few weeks ago I went to an acting workshop. It ended up being useless anyway, but that's not the point. There were a whole bunch of people, most of them eccentrics like me; others were wannabes that read the scripts in monotone. Throughout the hours I was actually able to get a long with a few people: two girls and a boy. They shared a lot of the same tastes as me: MCR, Muse, heavy makeup, foreign languages. It was awesome.

When this first came out, I was young (youngER, anyway) and easily influenced. Okay, so it wasn't like I immediately jumped the vampire bandwagon and started sticking posters of a shirtless Taylor Lautner all over my bedroom walls, but I DID think that it was a great series.
Well, it's not a BAD series either. It's good the first time around; then you read it again and you realize how annoying all the characters are. The best thing I can say about it is that the action scenes (the very, very mini...more

the series were okay and were moving in a way. but to be honest i HATED bella swan. she is like the worst character ever made, both in movies and in books. she is given a lot of attention by author, more than she deserves, i mean like come on, a normal backward girl who is not assertive and not the "beautifullest" or outgoing is chased by allot of handsome hunks? seriously? if people would be asking alice out, or even rosalie, take at least jennifer who are far more mixing and awesome than this...more

This was the first chapter book I read. I was starting 6th grade. I finished the whole series in a week (yes, I skipped a few chapters and the majority of New Moon & Breaking Dawn). I don't know about anyone else, but I like my male characters to act... I don't know... manly? Not like some possessive, always depressed, stick-up-his-ass glittery fairy princess. He wasn't a man to me, I couldn't picture him as a man. No matter how hard I tried, I pictured some girl with red hair and obsessive...more
The entire Twilight Saga was a great series. My favorite was the first book because it is all about how they met and I just find it the most interesting.
I think the theme throughout all of the books was love and sacrafice. Of course in each book they have other small themes. In the first book one theme would be everlasting love, because Bella falls in love with Edward even though he is a vampire. And in the third book a theme could be Good vs Bad because the Cullens try to kill all the bad vamp...more

Twilight...what can I say.... I finally broke down and read the series (If I hadn't seen the terrible movies first I probably would have read them sooner. The movies are sooooo much worse) and I'll admit that I read it straight through and then promptly turned back to book 1 read the whole series again a second time. I also read all of the extras and the unfinished bit of her re-write of the first book from Edwards perspective, which is better than the original!

I absolutely loved this series. If you are looking for a novel that stimulates your thought process or makes you question the world in which we exist, this isn't the book for you! I don't think it was meant to be intellectually challenging or engender a sense of social awareness. It is some what predictable, follows established plot lines, and resolves itself nicely (although I still can't quite rectify the concept of Jacob imprinting on a child in my mind). I too had a moment where I wondered w...more
My brain has been a bit burnt out recently, so I felt like reading something a bit lighter, and I was curious about the Twilight Saga having heard a great deal about the sexual connotations of the vampire narratives and the link to preservation of virginity movements in the USA. The books were jolly good page turners. I initially thought that it was interesting how Bella was presented as just an ordinary teenage girl with nothing really special about her. The best bits of the books were linked t...more
Nothing beats the amazing franchise that is The Twilight Saga. Though we all have an image of what Edward and Bella look like if we were to read it now but it still doesn't take away from the glorious vampiric world that Stephenie Meyer created. However there are a select group out there who read this before the big film adaptations came along. Before the days of Pattinson and Stewart and Lautner. Before Team Edward and Team Jacob though that was around in its own way. The beauty of reading it b...more
I loved reading these books! I had meant to read them way before the movie buzz started but I never did. I finally read them all after the first movie came out. I read them so fast I can't even believe it. I know there are a lot of criticisms of Meyers Vamps, but I love the characters and the developments of each of them. I love Edward for his flaws and his attributes, and I appreciate that Meyers created a man for modern men to live up to. Men can bash him for being too perfect or being soft, b...more
Twilight totally changed my life. Please don't quote me because that sounded pretty stupid. But before Twilight, vampires had a cape and chased Scooby-Doo around, ya know? Or he was ghostly white saying "I VANT TO SUCK YOUR BLOOD!" So, to actually find out that vampires could be these awesome indestructible babes, was quite awesome. And look at the effect it had, there are like millions of more vampire stories being written because of this series. But after seeing to many interviews or Rob Patti...more

A SAGA THAT STARTED IT ALL!! For me, the first book was really the best. The meeting of Edward and Bella were probably the best highlights of the whole story itself. Those were the spine-chilling times where the hairs of my body would shiver and the tension becomes better and better. The books that followed were also great but for me, it didn't much move me. Though it did but it wasn't that great unlike the first book where I went crazy! The part where I disliked the most was when Bella was preg...more
...I'm just gonna go ahead and let Stephen King take this one:
“Harry Potter is about confronting fears, finding inner strength and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend.”
PREACH.
The one thing I will hand to Stephanie Meyer, however, is that somehow she is still aware of EXACTLY what a teenage girl wants to read. She is aware of the hero the teenage girl wants and the heroine the teenage girl wants to pretend she is. When I first re...more

I tore through this series in sixth grade, ignoring awful aspects, so I could squeal about how great it was. I reread afterwards and felt incredibly stupid. Her writing is not nearly at the level I appreciate most and I felt guilty for calling her amazing. I could rant about her needing to go back to school to learn how to use proper imagery, being contradicting, and favoring emotionally abusive relationships (Yes, I count being constantly told by the 'love of your life' that you're not wanted a...more

I've added the Twilight Saga Box Set on Goodreads for sorting and bookshelf purposes, since I've already reviewed and rated all 4 (5) books separately. Those reviews do however need to be updated and I am planing to do so, but I figured I'd write a new short review for the box set.

I was pleasantly surprised when I pick up this first book of the twilight saga. I fell in love with Stephanie Meyer's interpretation of vampires and the romance between two characters meant to be yet not meant to be. Intertwine with friendships, enemies, and magical creatures its whole world with each person playing an important part that I easily get lost in once I crack open the book. I love Bella's point of view and relate to her. I was even more amazed when she added Jacobs point of view in...more
I had a YA Literature professor who reffered to some books as "potato chip books". Meaning that, they taste really good, you cant put them away, and you always hunger for more. But once you have finished the "chip bag" so to speak, you didnt really get any nutrients out of it.

The twilight saga, is one series you can not live with out! Stephenie Meyer has action, suspense, drama, that always problematic love triangle, and of course vampires and werewolves.
I though Jessica was going to turn out to be a witch or something but, Mrs. Meyer kept with the traditional night creatures. myeh. Better written than the Shades of Grey (and ten x better than House of Night series) but generally appalling writing. I did think that the moral aspects were commendable. ...until I took note of Peddy Eddys' age...and then I found myself really looking forward to the END of the series.

These books are pop culture icons, bringing vampires into the teenage and young adult scene. I found that the hype of these books actually turned me away from the for a while, but after hearing so much about them I finally gave in and read them. I was taken aback by this authors grasp of writing. Her character had fantastic depth and emotion, they felt incredibly real and truly came off the page taking me with each of them for the ride through the series. I found myself picking favorites and rou...more
No soy el New York Times haciendo reseñas ni mencionando que es un betseller o no. Soy más fiel a lo que me gusta o no sin importarme si a alguien más le gusta. #1 - Twilight. Phoenix girl (Bella) moves to Forks in Washington state to live with her divorced dad. Falls in love with Edward who she discovers is a vampire.
I had a hard time with this book, it was easy to read, but I did not like the weak female lead (Bella) who had to be saved numerous times contrasted with the super-everything-vampire.To be fair, the idea of
turning the vampire myths on its head was great! So while not the best book in the series, I didn't dislike it enough to make me stop...more

better than the movies. the first book "Twilight." is my favorite out of all of them.
I would have never known Twilight existed until they came big other than that It was funny how I heard about them. I heard all my girl friends talk about a movie they wanted to see called Twilight and that it had a vampire in it... So, when me and my best friend went to go see a movie we picked twilight thinking it was a horror movie about vampires taking over the world until we found out about mid way through t...more

The most common criticisms I've heard about the Twilight series are Bella's unrealistic personality and vampires that sparkle. It is possible but not probable that anyone will get the chance to see me complain about a teenager not acting enough like a teenager. As for the sparkle, there is a more detailed explanation with logical-as logical as mythical creatures can be-reasoning behind it in the novella. This is the first time in a long time that I've found true love, good concurring evil withou...more
I read it a few years ago. At the time I thought the story was ok but I was sick of the "Edward is so perfect. Edward's skin shines it's perfect." I thought the Jacob part was much better than the rest of the book. But now, I've seen more "vampire stories" on tv or books or movies and I realize that the story is not even ok. Bella is not a good character, she plays with two men; her life totally depends on Edward's choices. It's really not a good image of women. I only watched the two first movi...more
5 STARS! i read all four books in one whole year and it didn't even take me the whole year to read. it was one of the only books that i couldn't put down. at first i didn't know what all the fuss was about but as soon as i read it i understood. Stephenie Meyer really makes you feel as if you can see what's happening. while reading i remember i always had such a clear image of all the characters and scenery. my all time favourite character was Jacob Black. he is amazing and so good looking.

Man, how to rate these books? First of all, I am a man, and I read each and every one of these cover to cover. So there has to be something to that. Interesting and compelling story, but my God the writing is horrible. To tell you how bad it is, I read the third one and was halfway through it before I even realised it was the third one and not the second one. Or was it the fourth and third I mixed up? I can't remember. These books were a guilty pleasure, but the guilt was REAL because they are a...more
I absolutely loved this series! I have now read it multiple times and still haven't got bored yet, so it's a good sign indicating just how much I enjoy reading these books. My favourite book in the collection has to be the third one, Eclipse, I got so into it that I actually cried at some point. Definitely a well written piece of fiction. However I would like to state that the movies do not do the books justice at all, they're terrible, so don't let that put off reading this!

I was born in Connecticut in 1973, during a brief blip in my family's otherwise western U.S. existence. We were settled in Phoenix by the time I was four, and I think of myself as a native. The unusual spelling of my name was a gift from my father, Stephen (+ ie = me). Though I have had my name spelled wrong on pretty much everything my entire life long, I must admit that it makes it easier to goo...more
